Adaptations can either be hit or miss, but lately there seem to be a lot more hits than misses (or maybe I’ve just learnt to stop judging the films too harshly and accept there will be differences to the source material). I am seriously behind on the TV shows and films I need to watch, my to-watch list is almost as long as my to-read list, so for this week’s topic I’ve picked five adaptations I still need to watch and five books I’d love to see adapted one day (because let’s face it we all want to see our favourite books on the big screen).

I adapted the theme a little this week. Instead of talking about books that feature yummy foods, I’m going to talk about the books I’ve read that make me want to bake.

Baking is one of my favourite things to do. A year and a half ago it seemed like I was baking all the time; I’d make gingerbread men and sugar cookies, a variety of cupcakes and muffins, cheesecakes and birthday cakes. Granted baking has fallen in the wayside a little as blogging takes up most of my time, but when I read books that feature the most mouth-watering descriptions of food I really want to try my hand at baking them so I can taste the food I’m reading about for myself.

A little while ago there was a Mother’s Day themed free-for-all and I did Top Ten Mother/Child Relationships in YA Books, so I figured now it was time to feature the best father’s in YA books. The Diverse Books Tag

When I was first tagged in The Diverse Books Tag I was worried that I would have a hard time finding anything I’d read that answered the questions. Turns out there were more than a few books already on my read list. Don’t get me wrong there are still more I want to read, and I’m always looking out for more diverse books so if you have any recommendations please let me know.

Last year I didn’t really read many books that went out of my comfort zone. So to rectify that, and also to see if there’s another genre I would end up loving as much as I do fantasy, one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to branch out and read more books I wouldn’t normally pick up. For this week’s Top Ten I have highlighted five books I read recently that weren’t my typical genre and five books that are on my to-read list which, hopefully, I’ll be able to get around to soon.
