Top Ten Tuesday: Frequently Used Title Structures for Young Adult Fantasy Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Frequently Used Title Structures for Young Adult Fantasy Books.

This was always something part of me noticed, but that until this Top Ten Tuesday topic I never paid too much attention to. Now I have and it’s become something I can’t get my mind to un-notice.

When it comes to young adult book titles, especially in the fantasy genre, there’s a common structure that seems to be everywhere; ‘[Something] of [Something] and [Something]’. The titles below aren’t even all the ones I was able to find, they’re just all the ones I managed to find before my brain started melting down.

The New Disney Princess Tag

Funnily enough my favourite Disney films don’t even have princess in them (The Fox and the Hound and Alice in Wonderland in case anyone was curious). When it comes to my favourite Disney princess through it’s a hard choice between Belle and Rapunzel. I was tagged by Eva at Brilliantly Bookish, and Sophie at Blame Chocolate. Thanks both so much for the tag, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Top Ten Tuesday: Book-to-Screen Adaptations

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is a freebie, so I picked Book-to-Screen Adaptations.

When it comes to my favourite books I always love hearing there’s an adaptation in development as much as I dread it, because how can a two-hour-long film or eight-episode-series live up to my favourite books. This week I’ve decided to feature my top four book-to-screen adaptations, my worst three, and my most anticipated three, because I’ve never quite learnt how to manage my sky high expectations.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read.

I’ve done a lot of re-reading so far this year, and although the ten books I’ve featured this week are books I don’t see myself picking up again anytime soon that’s not to say I won’t ever re-read them one day in the future. I’m a mood reader so I can never tell what I’m going to fancy reading from one day to the next, but these are all books I know I won’t be re-reading anytime soon that I can say for sure.

Top Ten Tuesday: Five Characters Who Deserved Better and Five Characters Who Got What they Deserved

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Characters I Liked that Were in Books I Disliked.

So it turns out I don’t have enough characters I liked in books I disliked to make a top ten list, in fact I don’t think I have enough books I disliked full stop. So instead for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post I’m featuring five characters who deserved better than they got – writing this post has made me realise I’m not quite over what happened to some of them – and five characters who got exactly what they deserved.

*Please be warned this post will include spoilers for a lot, if not all, of the books I picked this week.*

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Top Ten Books that take Place in Another Country

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Top Ten Books that take Place in Another Country.

Books that take place in other countries are a major source for my own wanderlust. There have been so many that have made me want to hop on a plane the same day and travel to the city the author has set their story in. In fact if it was possible to travel to fantasy locations – think Red London or The Night Circus I’d never come home again.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List.

I’ve never really been good at sticking to TBR lists. All you need to do is look at some of the monthly ones I’ve set in the past to see how bad I am at sticking to them. The ten books on my list this week are books I want to read (but as a mood reader that could change at any given time) and that I hope to get around to soon, but whether I do or not is anyone’s guess.
