When it comes to book covers I’m weak. They’re the first thing we see when looking at books and if I’m going to check out the blurb, and maybe add it to my TBR list, then there needs to be a gorgeous cover to catch my eye. This tag, where I get to talk about the prettiest book covers I have sitting on my shelves, could have been written for me.
I was tagged by Alyssa Grace at Serendipitous Reads. Thanks so much for the tag Alyssa, I loved taking part in this one almost as much as I love gorgeous book covers.
Rules:
- Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!
- Mention Tiana at The Book Raven as the creator of this book tag!
- Use the original tag image in your post. (However, feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)
- Tag at least 1 fellow blogger for this tag.
- List the rules
No Ideas but in Things:
A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it
Wayward Children by Seanan McGuire
I couldn’t choose just one. The covers for the Wayward Children series all have a very fantasy-esque magical feel to them, but the dreary landscape on the cover of Down Among the Sticks and Bone is in my mind the Moors Jack and Jill travel to, and the cotton candy colours of Beneath the Sugar Sky represents Rini’s and Sumi’s stories really well.
Sugary Sweet:
A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
The second I saw the dogs I was sold. I love animals so any book that includes animals (or better yet has a cute and fluffy animal on the cover) is an automatic must-read for me.
The Simple Aesthetic:
A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design
Sadie by Courtney Summers
The cover doesn’t give anything away as to what Sadie is about, and if it weren’t for the red hoodie I feel like this book would fade into the background, lost among all the brighter covers on the shelves, but for me the simplicity is what makes it so eye-catching.
Cover Envy:
A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet
Finale by Stephanie Garber
Granted it’s only a few more days before Finale is released and my copy is dispatched, but I still can’t wait until I have it. The covers for the whole trilogy are gorgeous, but what makes this book stand out from all of my many anticipated releases are the secret covers under the dust jackets.
Travelling Abroad:
A book cover featuring a country outside of your own
Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
Iran is a big part of Darius story, alongside his fractional Persian heritage, and the setting was so richly described in the story itself it’s nice to see it represented in the cover art too.
The Colour Wheel:
A cover that showcases one of your favourite colours
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
My favourite colours is blue and there no better blue book I own than Strange the Dreamer. Like Finale though it isn’t just the cover that made this one stand out for me, it’s the blue sprayed edges and the illustrations on the title page that add to the overall gorgeousness of this book.
Switching Gears:
A cover change you absolutely adore
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
I’m copying Alyssa’s answer for this one. I did like the original cover for Vicious, but when the collector’s editions were released I fell in love. I felt the new design better represented Victor’s character, the cover replicating the blackout poetry he used to create, and it fit with the other collector’s editions of V.E. Schwab’s books.
And the Winner is…
Which book cover mentioned above is your favourite?
Tag, you’re it;

If anyone else wants to take part in the Dreamy Books Covers Tag then go for it, I’d love to see your answers so consider yourselves tagged as well.
But if not let me know in the comments what cover showcases your favourite colour. Is it just the cover art that makes it stand out or are there other aspects that add to the overall design? What was the last book you read with a cover that perfectly captured the story itself?
Hey Beth!! I love the covers that you chose here. I have to agree that the collector’s edition of Vicious is much more reflective of the story and of Victor’s character. That’s awesome that you have a signed copy of Strange the Dreamer!! 🙂 Great post!! ❤

Yeah the only issue with this tag was limiting the amount of gorgeous book covers I could feature! 🙂 As soon as I saw that edition of Vicious I knew I had to have it, and yeah that copy of Strange the Dreamer is one of the best books I own on my opinion. 🙂
Thanks so much. ❤️

The Strange the Dreamer covers, Sadie and Finale are absolutely gorgeous! I 100% agree with you, and I actually pre-ordered the UK copy of Finale just because the naked cover is just incredible💕.

Oh, my copy of Finale actually arrived today and it’s well worth it. It’s a gorgeous book so I’m hoping the story inside is just as good! 🙂

Thanks so much for tagging me! I love drooling over book covers… stroking book covers… talking about book covers… so this tag is pretty perfect for me! :’D

That’s all right. 🙂 Ha, yeah that’s pretty much me too. I just can’t resist the lure of a gorgeous book, which is probably why I end up buying so many! 😀

Awesome answers! I agree that the cover for Sadie is so simple and yet so eyecatching. I love the cover for wayward children and darius the great as well. And the cover for strange the dreamer is one of my favourites!

Thanks so much. ❤️ Yeah for Sadie the cover doesn’t influence your opinion of the story does it? You’d pick it up because of the blurb rather than because it has a gorgeous cover. Strange the Dreamer is definitely one of the more beautiful books on my shelves that’s for sure! 🙂

Lovely answers for this tag, Beth! I love the covers of the Wayward Children series so much, they look gorgeous. Darius sounds so good and the cover looks great, too, I really, really need to read this book soon 😀

Thanks so much. 🙂 Yeah when it comes to pretty covers there are few that are more gorgeous than the Wayward Children series, I picked up the first book because of the cover.
The book itself is just as amazing as the cover is. I know I’ve said this before but I can’t wait for you to read Darius the Great Marie, I’m sure it’s going to be a book you’ll love. 🙂

Oh it’s so gorgeous. ❤ I don't think I could pick just one prettiest cover but Strange the Dreamer is definitely up there, and I'm still not sure whether I prefer the US or the UK edition more! 😀

Thanks so much Meghan, and yeah the covers are just so gorgeous. I’m not gonna lie a large part of why I picked the series up in the first place was the covers! 😀

And to the inside is just as beautiful as the outside! 😍

Of course! 😀 This wouldn’t be a favourite series of mine if the story was terrible.
