When it comes to book covers I’m weak. They’re the first thing we see when looking at books and if I’m going to check out the blurb, and maybe add it to my TBR list, then there needs to be a gorgeous cover to catch my eye. This tag, where I get to talk about the prettiest book covers I have sitting on my shelves, could have been written for me.

Top Ten Books on My Spring 2019 TBR List

This week’s theme is actually Top Ten Things that Make me Pick up a Book, but I struggled to come up with more than four things – the blurb, cover, author and recommendations from friends – so I decided to go back to a topic I missed from a few weeks back. I don’t normally do well when it comes to setting TBR lists but this time I’ve tried featuring books I know I’ll read sometime in the next three months, but I guess when June ends we’ll see how I actually did.

Top Ten Characters I’d Like to Switch Places With

For me this list could very easily be top twenty, or even top one hundred, characters I’d like to switch places with. I read a lot of fantasy books, and sometimes there are worlds I just want to be able to fall into the way I do the stories I read; after all who hasn’t finished Harry Potter and immediately wished for their own letter from Hogwarts. Still I managed to keep my list to ten this week, and no I didn’t include Harry Potter/Hogwarts because I feel that’s kind of a given.

One of the best things about the start of a new year is all the amazing books that are due to be released, and there are plenty in 2019. Already a couple of my most anticipated reads have come out, The Wicked King and In an Absent Dream, but there are still so many still to be released in the first half of the year. It made coming up with just ten for this list impossible, so I included some honourable mentions too.

Every story needs a good villain, and they need to be as well written as the heroes they go toe-to-toe with. As much as I always root for the heroes of every book I read there are times when I can’t help but be more fascinated with the villain, so for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday themed free pick I decided to focus on those villains; characters I loved the most and who I’d love to learn more about.

The first time I saw this tag I got a little confused because I thought it was “Books to Read in Paris“. Not that I wouldn’t recommend any of these books for reading in Paris, but it would have been a very different tag if I hadn’t quickly realised it was pairs instead. When I first saw this topic I thought it would be an easy one. I’ve read so many amazing books there are bound to be hundreds I could mash together to create one epic story, but as I started going through my Goodreads ‘read’ list I realised it was harder than I first thought. After all when it comes to all-time favourite books and series of mine, like The Night Circus and the Shades of Magic trilogy, how can they possible get any better?!
