More Than This was the second book by Patrick Ness I decided to pick up, and to this day it remains my second favourite of all his releases as well, after the Chaos Walking trilogy. Originally this book wasn’t all that high on my to-read list, certainly not above The Knife of Never Letting Go or A Monster Calls which both seemed to have more buzz surrounding them and which both had more intriguing blurbs. However when one of my fellow WordPress bloggers kept mentioning this book to me, saying it was her favourite and a book she loved, I knew I had to pick it up.

There’s no way to fully describe More Than This without spoiling parts of the plot, so all I’ll say is that this book is one you have to read to understand why it’s so amazing. Don’t do what I did and judge it by its blurb.

“At first it’s okay, you know, not perfect, but okay, and you get used to it. Then it gets a little worse, and you get used to that, too. Then one day, you wake up and you don’t have the first freakin’ clue how it got that bad.”
