The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Three

Another day and another round of answers to the Sunshine Blogger Award questions set for me by the wonderful bloggers who nominated me. The last round of questions I answered in my Sunshine Blogger Award Part Two post delved into my opinions on books, but in this post and with this round of questions I get to talk more about my blog and myself.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was tagged by Emily at The Little Book Affair and Eliza at Invokedreverie. Thank you both so much for your nominations, I had a lot of fun answering the questions you set and I hope you enjoy reading my answers.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Wintery Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Wintery Reads.

I’m not sure if I can say why I picked the books I did this week, why I’d class them as ‘Wintery Reads’ over any other book. Personally though when it starts getting darker earlier and colder every day all I want is to curl up with a book that’s more magical than deadly; so be prepared to see plenty of magical realism, fairytale retellings, and childhood nostalgia on my list this week.

You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag

When the Pingback for this tag first appeared in my notifications I thought it was a strange and possibly passive aggressive insult, then I realised it was a tag and had to laugh at how ridiculous I was being. I was tagged by Anny at The Mystique Reader. Thanks so much for the tag Anny, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together.

When I first saw this topic I thought it would be an easy one. I’ve read so many amazing books there are bound to be hundreds I could mash together to create one epic story, but as I started going through my Goodreads ‘read’ list I realised it was harder than I first thought. After all when it comes to all-time favourite books and series of mine, like The Night Circus and the Shades of Magic trilogy, how can they possible get any better?!

When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study…as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don’t loot everything first. Mia and Jules’ different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.

In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race’s secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race…

Discussion Time: How Much Do the Covers Influence Our Opinions on Books?

Really quickly before I go into this discussion my comments appear to be being marked as spam by WordPress. If you could check and break me out of spam jail if you see any of my comments there I’d be very grateful.

Everyone’s heard the phrase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ before, but let’s face it in some shape or form we all do. Maybe it’s not as obvious as seeing a book with a bad cover and thinking ‘oh, this is going to be a terrible story’ but I do think, for me especially and maybe you as well, covers influence our opinions on what books we do and don’t pick up.

The covers are always the first things we see. You’re browsing on Amazon, or wandering around Waterstones and you don’t have time to look at every single blurb of every single book so you use the covers to help decide what books you may want to know more about, what books you will read the blurb of.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018.

When it comes down to it there are so many books I can’t wait for, and plenty of them I couldn’t feature because they don’t have titles or covers or blurbs yet; The Muse of Nightmares, the second Warcross book, the third Nevernight book. It’s looking like 2018 is going to be a great year for book releases, the only issue I’ll have is finding the time to read them all.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Thankful For

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I’m Thankful For.

When it comes down to it there are plenty of books I’m thankful for, in fact you could say I’m thankful for every book out there because I love reading, but the ones below are the ones that have the most fond memories attached to them. Some of them are likely cliché picks for this topic, and most of them are books I haven’t stopped talking about since I started blogging, but I feel that’s almost expected.
