Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Recommendations for …

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Recommendations for …

Rather than do recommendations for a specific genre or group of people, like the prompt suggested and like I have in the past, I’m doing recommendations based on books. It’s a ‘if you liked this book check out these books’ Top Ten Tuesday post.

Top Ten Tuesday has been on hiatus for a month and a half, and while some people were still taking part in the weekly feature during that time I was not one of them, so it’s nice to have some prompts again to post my top ten on a Tuesday.

Discussion Time: The Pros and Cons of Retellings

This is a topic that has been floating around in my mind ever since I posted a Top Ten Tuesday topic a little while ago on fairytales I’d love to see retold more. I am a massive fan of fairytale retellings, and most retellings actually; all a book needs to do is hint at the fact that it’s a retelling and it’s an automatic add to my to-read list.

However that doesn’t mean I think all retellings are amazing, and that all I read are given five star ratings and should be read by everyone. Retellings, be they fairytale or not, aren’t for everyone, and there have even been a fair few fairytale retellings I haven’t enjoyed at all.

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List.

There are so many books currently on my TBR list and all of them are books I’d like to get around to soon-ish, especially when you consider how long some of them have been on there. I’m normally not good at sticking to TBR lists given how I’m a mood reader, but this week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme I featured the books I definitely want to get around to ASAP, only time will tell whether I do or not.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to for the First Half of 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to for the First Half of 2017.

There are so many amazing books being released next year. Some of my favourite series, favourite duologies, are coming to an end and I can’t wait to see how things tie up for my favourite characters. Not to mention there are some beyond amazing debut novels being released which I have been so excited for since they were announced. This list could have gone on forever, I had more than ten books I could have picked but I kept it to the best of the best.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books with an … Setting

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books with an … Setting.

Out of this World.

I love reading sci-fi books, not as much as fantasy admittedly but it’s still up there. However I did only recently discover and fall in love with the genre myself so there aren’t many sci-fi books that I’ve really loved; I’ve got a lot more on my to-read list which sound amazing and that I can’t wait to get started on. And that’s what my list is this week; a few books which are perfect for taking that first step into the world of YA sci-fi, and a few which I haven’t read but that I’ve heard nothing but great things about.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a Valentine’s Day themed free pick this week so I chose; Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year.

I have a lot of OTP’s and it was a real challenge to narrow it down to just ten. Looking through my ‘Read’ list on Goodreads I saw so many amazing books, all full of amazing characters and amazing relationships; it was nearly impossible to choose. Some of my picks for this week are couples from standalone books or finished series so I know how their stories end, but there are a few from series where the last book is still to be released and I am desperate to find out how it ends, hoping for a happily ever after.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday was definitely the hardest for me. I have read so many amazing books that I have truly loved this year that picking only ten was a real challenge. Some of my favourite series have ended on a real high note, Winter from the Lunar Chronicles, I have started new series which I cannot wait to continue, The Mine Order from the Bone Season series, and I have read some stand-alone novels which exceeded my highest expectations, Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On. Eventually I managed to narrow down my list but it was a close call on some of them.

A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness for their planet, and protect them from destruction. Some say Flynn’s a madman, others whisper about conspiracies. Nobody knows the truth. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were rescued from a terrible shipwreck—now, they live a public life in front of the cameras, and a secret life away from the world’s gaze.

Now, in the centre of the universe on the planet of Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players, who will bring the fight against LaRoux Industries to a head. Gideon Marchant is an eighteen-year-old computer hacker—a whiz kid and an urban warrior. He’ll climb, abseil and worm his way past the best security measures to pull off onsite hacks that others don’t dare touch.

Sofia Quinn has a killer smile, and by the time you’re done noticing it, she’s got you offering up your wallet, your car, and anything else she desires. She holds LaRoux Industries responsible for the mysterious death of her father and is out for revenge at any cost.

When a LaRoux Industries security breach interrupts Gideon and Sofia’s separate attempts to infiltrate their headquarters, they’re forced to work together to escape. Each of them has their own reason for wanting to take down LaRoux Industries, and neither trusts the other. But working together might be the best chance they have to expose the secrets LRI is so desperate to hide.
