I am a massive fan of Disney movies. If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you’ll know how much I love fairytale retellings, well I love Disney movies just as much. I have seen almost every one and I am really loving all the live action reboots that are being released, who’s really excited for Beauty and the Beast next?
The Jungle Book was the latest Disney classic to get a live action reboot and, from what I understand, is the reason this tag was created in the first place. I was tagged by Gracie at GracieFM. Thank you so much for the tag Gracie; everyone else should definitely check out her original post and while you’re there her blog as well.
The Bare Necessities:
A book that makes you forget about your worries and your strife
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
There are so many things I love about this book; the story, the magic, the characters and their relationships. No matter how many times I read Carry On this book never fails to make me smile, laugh, or fall in love with Simon, Baz, Penny and Agatha all over again.
I Wanna Be Like You:
A character that you want to be like
Kenji Kishimoto
Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi
I’ve said before that I’d love to have someone like Kenji as my friend in real life, but I also think he’s a great character to be more like as well. He’s a friend to pretty much everyone he meets and while at first glance he jokes around a lot and doesn’t seem to take much seriously underneath he tough, dedicated, and loyal to his friends. He supports them when they need it but also kicks them into action when they’re wallowing in self-misery.
That’s What Friends Are For:
Fictional friends that you wish were part of your own friend group
Agnieszka and Kasia
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
One of my favourite parts of Uprooted was the friendship between Agnieszka and Kasia. The two are dedicated to one another; when Kasia is taken into the Woods Agnieszka is willing to risk her life to get her out, and although Kasia is corrupted by her time there Agnieszka spends months trying to find a cure. In turn, no matter where Agnieszka goes and what threats she faces, Kasia is always ready and willing to fight by her side.
My Own Home:
A book that no matter what, always feels like home
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Yes this is a really cliché answer, and probably one I’ve given for plenty of other tag questions like this, but it’s always going to be a series which feels like home. I have so many fond memories associated with this series; my parents giving me the fourth book and then me reading it all the way home from holiday, queuing up at midnight with my friends for the release of the seventh book. There is never going to be anything that will stop me from loving these books.
Trust In Me:
A character you would trust with your life
Miel
When the Moon Was Ours by Anna Marie McLemore
Throughout the whole of this book, even when faced with the wrath of the Bonner sisters, Miel stays loyal to Sam and goes ahead with Ivy’s plans if it means keeping his secret safe. She’s incredibly loyal to the people she loves and will go to any lengths to keep them safe, even if it means keeping them far away from her.

Can’t wait to start doing some tags! I’m going to start with the Goodreads one…it seems the easiest to get into, y’know?

There are some amazing ones out there, and I love tags because they’re always so well thought out you know?
Yeah I’ve seen the Goodreads one, I think I have it on my list of tags I still need to complete, but I can’t wait to see your answers for that one Stephanie! 😀

Oh, I know…I’m excited to do it. I only wait now because whenever I get a chance to post, it’s usually a review! Or an update…but I have a hard time justifying the time it takes for a tag when I have so much to do.
For example, today I have to take a quiz on Blackboard (school site), work more on my room (my mom insists I spend at least a couple hours a day on it…let’s just say I have a lot of stuff but nowhere to put it), read the rest of this ARC (due tomorrow), find a way to renew or keep particular library books (since some are due today, some tomorrow), and start a book by Tenille Berezay because her blog tour has started! What a day!
I really am excited for after graduation…yes, I’ll either be going back to school in Winter or going to work, but I’ll at least have some time for Christmas break! Yay for Christmas! 😊

Well I do love reading all your reviews but I’ll be looking forwards to seeing you tag as well. And yeah I know that feeling but sometimes it’s kind of nice to take a small step back from the reviews and past the odd tag here and there.
Jesus that is a lot to do, how did you manage to get it all done? But I kind of know the feeling, work is so stressful at the moment and there is so much going on that sometimes I just want to come home crawl into bed and sleep the evening away. Bring on Christmas right? I think we could both definitely do with a break!

I had missed this post! Thank you for tagging me, it sounds like a fun one!
I will never ever never finish Carry On. Maybe things would have been different if I had been warned about the Harry Potter parallels, but I’m not sure, the writing was -meh for me. Glad it makes you feel good thought! 🙂 Harry Potter will always be our home. It’s silly but I’m always amazed at the number of people who consider it home, it’s pure magic! I keep seeing Shatter Me on blog post, I have no idea what it’s about, I should go and check you!

That’s all right, and yeah it was a fun tag to take part in so I hope you enjoy it as well!
Ahh see I knew about the Harry Potter parallels going in so I guess that helped me to take this book on its own merits and not really compare to two stories (if that makes sense)
It is a magical series though, and I have so many fond memories that are connected to the books and reading them that honestly there’s never ever going to be another answer to that question for me.
Definitely check it out. It’s a great series and hopefully you’ll really enjoy it! I always feel that if I see a book a lot on WordPress the world is sending me a sign and I need to go out and buy it right away! 😀

Haha, you’re right about the world sending books your way with plenty of WordPress apparitions! That’s how I added Red Rising to my TBR, I would never have added it otherwise!

It’s how I’ve read a lot of series, and some of them have become all-time favourites so I’m glad I discovered them through WordPress when it comes down to it! 😀

Harry Potter is definitely the ONE series that feels like home to me. Rereading the books over and over again, watching the movies and doing anything Harry Potter related brings me soooo much joy.
I have heard amazing things about Kenji and everyone seems to adore him! As I have only read Shatter Me (and he basically just appeared) I can’t really say much about him. I’m really looking forward to reading Unravel Me though and seeing why everyone loves him so much.
Great post! 😀

That’s all right, I’m looking forwards to seeing your answers for this one Anna! 🙂
I re-watched all the movies recently and now I just need to re-read the books again. This is definitely a series I’m always going to love no matter how old I am and how many times I’ve read the books. I’m guessing it’s the same for most people though.
Yes everyone loves Kenji, and when you carry on with the series I’m sure you will as well. He is just an amazing character and he definitely comes into his own in Unravel Me and Ignite Me.
Thanks so much Anna! 😀

Thanks for the tag, Beth 😀 The only one of these I’ve read is Harry Potter (which will probably be my answer for that question too!), but I’m dying to read the rest especially When The Moon Was Ours!!
Also, super random question, but if you don’t mind me asking – what’s the font you used on the banner? It caught my eye immediately, haha.

That’s all right Lauren. ❤
Harry Potter is a classic though isn't it? And definitely a fitting answer for that question for anyone I think as well. Oh When the Moon Was Ours is an amazing book, and one I think you'll really love as well. At the moment it is my top magical realism read of this year! 😀
No that's all right. I used an app called Word Swag on my iPad to create the banner for this tag. I think the font I used was called Brisk Brush but there are loads of amazing ones on there.

Oooh, that makes me even more excited to read it! And thank you so much. I also hadn’t heard of that app, so I’ll have to check it out 😀

I’ll definitely keep an eye out for your review in that case. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it.
And yeah it’s a great app for creating banners like these, I use it for everything now! 😀

This is such a cute tag! I’m a huge Disney fan as well and can’t wait for the Beauty and the Beast live-action movie. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites! Along with Lion King and The Aristocats. I completely agree with you on Kenji. If there is any character I would want to be like it’s him. He’ll always be my favorite in that series. And Harry Potter will definitely always feel like home for me too. Great post, Beth! 😊

Oh definitely, and I really loved the live-action remake of The Jungle Books as well. Have you seen that one?
Beauty and the Beast, I can already tell, is going to be a favourite of mine. It’s already one of my favourite Disney animated movies, and me and my sister have plans to see the live-action remake when it’s released at the cinema.
Oh I love The Lion King too, but I think Alice in Wonderland is my favourite! ❤
Yes I LOVED Kenji, I was much more interested in him at times than I was Juliette, Adam and Warner. 🙂
Harry Potter is one of the only books which I loved as a child and that I still love today, it's got a special place in my heart! ❤
Thanks Melissa. 😀

I actually haven’t. I want to though. 😊
Same! I’m planning on taking my mom and little sisters. And I’m so glad that Emma Watson is playing Belle. She’s going to be fantastic.
I love Alice and Wonderland too. I officially want to have a Disney movie marathon.
Me too. And if Tahereh ever writes more for that series I really hope we get to learn more about Kenji. I’d even love it if there was a novella or even more in his POV. 😃
Same! I have such fond memories of it and pretending to be a wizard with my little sister. Harry Potter will always be one of the best.
You’re welcome. Beth! 💕

It’s really good. I think if you’ve enjoyed the other live-action remakes you’ll enjoy The Jungle Book one as well. 🙂
Oh definitely, I’m not sure who else has been cast at the moment but Emma Watson makes a great Belle!
Same here, I have a few on DVD, all my favourites at least. 🙂
Oh that would be amazing, and you never know. We said we wanted more from Ransom Riggs and we’re getting it so maybe one day we’ll get more from Shatter Me! Ahh my sister was never that much into HP so we could never do that! It must have been fun when you were kids. 😀

I’m not sure either. I remember seeing something about who else was cast but I can’t remember names now.
True. I still love the fact how we literally talked about how we wanted more Miss Peregrine novels one day and then not even a few weeks later he announces that he’s releasing more books. 😂
I really do hope we got more for Shatter Me one day. Although I remember her saying that if she did some characters would definitely die. That aspect scares me. *puts favorites in protective box* 🙈
It was so much fun. I think it was more of a younger sister wants to be like older sister thing. I definitely took advantage of that fact lol.

It’s probably somewhere, but I guess as Emma Watson is Belle she’s the big name behind the story.
Maybe, in that case, if we talk enough about how much we want a sequel to the Shatter Me series we’ll get one! And if that works then all we’ll have to do is talk about all the books we want to see sequels for and it will happen. You never know this could be some kind of strange superpower. 😀
Ohh, I hadn’t heard that but now it terrifies me as well. As long as it isn’t Kenji or Warner or Juliette though, those are my favourites and I just really want them to have a happy ending.
Ahh, me and my sister argued too much as children to ever really go through that phase! 😀

We should so do it! I mean it worked for Miss Peregrine’s 😂. That would definitely be an awesome superpower to have. 😊
That’s exactly what I was thinking! As long as it isn’t Kenji, Warner, or Juliette. I’d be more terrified that it would be Kenji as it seems like the comedic side character that is everyone’s favorite more often than not gets killed off. I really want them to have a happy ending too. And I want more for Kenji. His background wasn’t explored too much and I feel like he has so much potential as a character.

The power of positive thinking right? Can you imagine how many books we’d be able to get sequels for if we did have that power? Our favourite series would never have to end!
I guess so but at the same time there are plenty of other series where the comic relief lives at the end, and where it’s the main character who ends up dying. Really it could be anyone but yeah hopefully none of those three. I’d love to learn more about Kenji as well, I feel there’s still a lot we don’t know about him that could be explored! 😀

Exactly! And we could get so many sequels. I feel like I would accidentally over user a power like that. There are just too many series I wouldn’t mind companion series for. 😂
True. Although I’ve only ever read one book where the main character has died and in that one the comic relief also died. 😢
It could be. I feel like she wouldn’t be opposed to killing anyone off. It is a dystopia with a crazy government gunning for them so. But yeah hopefully it isn’t those three.
There definitely is! Plus as cliche as it sounds I want him to have a happy ending.

Well, yeah, but there are a few series that I’m really happy with the way they ended so I don’t know if I’d want sequels for them. I’m happy with where things were left off with the characters and I almost feel any more books would just kind of ruin the story a little you know?
Oh, I feel like I’ve read a couple where the main character has died and the comic relief hasn’t. Then again in most books I read someone seems to die so I know better not to get too fully attached to all the characters.
It would be kind of unrealistic for everyone to survive but yeah, anyone but those three. I wouldn’t mind if she killed off Adam being honest.

True. There are a lot of series like that for me as well. And then there are those ones where the way things ended seemed perfect but they’re getting companion series anyway.
Yeah. There’s always someone who ends up dying in every series I read.
I wouldn’t mind that either. I feel like he burned so many bridges between the second and third book. 🙈

Yep, and don’t get me wrong sometimes I do wonder what happens after the happy ending but at the same time reading a 300 page plus novel about the characters perfect lives after everything that went down would be a little dull!
Sometimes I wish the authors would stop killing people, it doesn’t feel like a massive shock or twist anymore just because it always happens!
God yes, he would need a really well written redemption arc for me to forgive him I think!

Totally agree with you on Harry Potter. I still haven’t finished Carry On. I wasn’t sure what to make of it the first time I opened it. Shatter Me is on my 2017 TBR. I need to finish a few series before I start another one. 🙂

When I saw that question I just knew Harry Potter would have to be my pick. It is one of the only series I read as a child that I still love just as much today! ❤
Well I hope you manage to finish Carry On one day and I hope you enjoy it too Jill.
That's a good idea! I tend to binge read series so normally my only issue is waiting for the next book to be released. But I hope you enjoy Shatter Me as well, that's a series that definitely gets better with each book. 😀

I’m currently reading Carry On, and while I’m not hooked yet, I’m glad to hear that it made you smile! I hope I enjoy it as much as you did in the end. And the friendship between Kasia and Agnieszka was so solid – even through hardships you just know they’re not going to leave each other behind. ❤

It definitely made me smile, and given how many times I’ve re-read it and how it makes me smile every time I pick it up and start the story again it definitely earns the title of my ultimate feel-good book! 😀
Exactly, even at the end with the two in completely different countries you can still see how close they are. It was just so brilliantly written and beyond what I thought would happen between the two of them given I assumed Agnieszka would never see Kasia again after she was taken by the Dragon.
