Discussion Time: How Do You Manage Your Expectations for Hyped Books?

We all know what hyped up books are, and likely we’ve all be taken in by the hype at one point or another. But then, what happens when a highly anticipated books is released? Things will go one of two ways; either the book will exceed the hype and exceed everyone’s expectations, or it will fall short and end up disappointing plenty of people.

While everyone has different reading tastes I think hype is universal, and it’s very easy to be taken in by the anticipation and excitement. If a book has enough hype, enough glowing reviews and mentions across social media, then most of the bookish community, regardless of their reading preferences, will be somewhat taken un by the hype.

The Valentine’s Day Book Tag

So even though Valentine’s Day is over now I thought there was still just enough time for me to post this tag. It’s jumped a little ahead in my queue simply because if I tried to get through all the others first I’d end up getting around to this one June/July time, better a few days late than a few months right?

I’ll admit I’m not a massive fan of Valentine’s Day, for me it was pretty much just another Tuesday, but I hope everyone else had a wonderful day with your respective partners and if you’re single like me then I hope you had a brilliant day in general. I was tagged by Heather at The Sassy Book Geek. Thanks so much for the tag Heather, I had a lot of fun with this one and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much.

The Zombie Book Tag

The way 2016 ended does anyone feel the end of the world is really too far off? After some of the things that happened last year the apocalypse wouldn’t really surprise me that much.

Good news for me though if it’s a zombie apocalypse one of my friends literally has a step by step plan to ensure our survival. Bad news for everyone though is that it’s a zombie apocalypse, what isn’t bad news in that situation? I was tagged by Jill at Rant and Rave About Books, who also created the below image. Thanks so much for the tag Jill, I had a lot of fun with this one. Everyone should definitely check out Jill’s original post and her blog as well while you’re there.

Netflix and Books Tag

There are so many TV programs I love, and even more that are on my to-watch list, however I don’t actually have Netflix myself. Still I figured you don’t need to have Netflix to take part in this tag! I was tagged by Reg at She Latitude. Thanks so much for the tag Reg, I had a lot of fun answering these questions and I hope you enjoyed reading them as much. Everyone should definitely check out Reg’s original post and her blog as well while you’re there. Reg is such an amazing person, and she writes some brilliant reviews, among other posts.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books that Made Me Want to Travel the World

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Things Books Have Made Me Want to Do or Learn About After Reading Them.

I decided to do my own take on this week’s theme and instead I picked; Top Ten Books that Made Me Want to Travel the World.

If you don’t know by now then, other than reading, travel is one of the main loves of my life. I want to see the world and I don’t think I’m ever going to be content in one place. The past few Top Ten Tuesday themes have been filled with travel and books. First there was top ten travel facts about me, then my top ten books that were set outside the US, and now top ten books that made me want to travel. There were more than a few, and this list is a mixture of books that have inspired holidays I’ve been on and books that have made me want to hop on a plane and fly far away.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Really Love and Feel I Need to Re-Read Soon

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Really Love and Feel I Need to Re-Read Soon.

I read a lot of books each year, and while there are some books I always re-read at least once a year there are others which I haven’t picked up in ages. Looking through my bookshelves and my Goodreads read list I discovered a lot of series which I loved the first time I read them but which I haven’t picked up since. These are probably my top ten favourite series that I haven’t read in over a year which are now high on my re-reads list.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Characters I’d Give Theme Songs To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a music themed free pick this week so I chose ten favourite characters and picked a soundtrack for them; Top Ten Characters I’d Give Theme Songs To.

When I first saw this week’s pick I instantly had the perfect song for Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows, but after that it was a struggle coming up with another nine characters. However I love music; I have a lot of songs on my iPod so I put my iTunes on shuffle and browsed my Goodreads read list until I had another nine characters and the perfect songs for them.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a Valentine’s Day themed free pick this week so I chose; Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year.

I have a lot of OTP’s and it was a real challenge to narrow it down to just ten. Looking through my ‘Read’ list on Goodreads I saw so many amazing books, all full of amazing characters and amazing relationships; it was nearly impossible to choose. Some of my picks for this week are couples from standalone books or finished series so I know how their stories end, but there are a few from series where the last book is still to be released and I am desperate to find out how it ends, hoping for a happily ever after.
