Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books that Make Me Want to Bake

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Yummy Foods Mentioned in Books.

I adapted the theme a little this week. Instead of talking about books that feature yummy foods, I’m going to talk about the books I’ve read that make me want to bake.

Baking is one of my favourite things to do. A year and a half ago it seemed like I was baking all the time; I’d make gingerbread men and sugar cookies, a variety of cupcakes and muffins, cheesecakes and birthday cakes. Granted baking has fallen in the wayside a little as blogging takes up most of my time, but when I read books that feature the most mouth-watering descriptions of food I really want to try my hand at baking them so I can taste the food I’m reading about for myself.

Rainbow Book Tag

Pretty book covers are always going to be a weakness of mine, which I feel most people are well aware of now. The phase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ has never really applied to me and I’ve only discovered a few favourite books of mine after seeing how pretty the cover was. I was tagged by Jacquie at Rattle the Stars. Thanks so much for the tag Jacquie, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Rainbow Book Tag

Rules:

  • It must be the dominant colour of the cover not the spine!
  • If you do not own a book of a certain colour, just choose one that has the colour on it somewhere.
  • It has to be a book you own and/or has to be the exact edition you read (e.g. there are two different covers for Me Before You, you would choose the one you read).
  • Tag some people to do it! Whether they be Bloggers, Bookstagrammers or BookTubers.

The Goodreads Book Tag

Now I finally have a Goodreads account for my blog I can take part in this tag without feeling like a fraud. Also, now I finally have a Goodreads account for my blog, I’m not sure why it took me so long to get around to creating one. I was tagged by Kirstie at Upside-Down Books. Thanks so much for the tag Kirstie, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Father/Child Relationships in YA Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is a Father’s Day related freebie, so I picked Top Ten Father/Child Relationships in YA Books.

A little while ago there was a Mother’s Day themed free-for-all and I did Top Ten Mother/Child Relationships in YA Books, so I figured now it was time to feature the best father’s in YA books. Again not all of the father/child relationships I featured this week are happy, loving and perfect, but they were all amazingly written.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Five Cover Changes I Loved and Top Five Cover Changes I Didn’t Like

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is a cover theme freebie, so I picked Top Five Cover Changes I Loved and Top Five Cover Changes I Didn’t Like.

Everyone has an opinion on cover changes, and no matter whether you love the new design or prefer the old one everyone (likely) agrees that there is nothing more annoying than when a series changes covers halfway through. For this week’s free cover themed pick I thought it was the perfect time to talk about some of the best and worst (in my opinion) cover changes, all halfway through a series.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Loved Set in School

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is a Back to School freebie, so I picked Top Ten Books I Loved Set in School.

Most of the ones that made it onto my list this week are YA contemporary books, just because most of them are set in high school. However there are a few fantasy books that, while they’re not technically set in a standard high school, they are set in some form of school, and as they’re favourites of mine of course they were going to make it on my list for this week.

You also may notice that, in spite of my topic pick for this week, I haven’t included Harry Potter. Mainly because it’s such a standard answer, and I wanted to include other books that I love. By now everyone should know how much I love Harry Potter.
