The Greek Gods Book Tag

It’s no secret that I love Greek mythology, ever since I was a child I’ve been fascinated by the stories, so I feel like this tag could have literally been written for me. I was tagged by Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews. Thanks so much for the tag Meghan, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together.

When I first saw this topic I thought it would be an easy one. I’ve read so many amazing books there are bound to be hundreds I could mash together to create one epic story, but as I started going through my Goodreads ‘read’ list I realised it was harder than I first thought. After all when it comes to all-time favourite books and series of mine, like The Night Circus and the Shades of Magic trilogy, how can they possible get any better?!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Short Stories

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Favourite Short Stories.

I don’t read a lot of short stories so when I first saw this week’s topic I thought I’d struggle to come up with a couple, let alone ten, books that I could feature. Then I looked through my Goodreads ‘read’ list and realised there were a lot of books that fit the theme; anthology collections, novellas from my favourite series, and even a book or two I managed to read in only a couple of hours.

Mid Year Freak Out Tag

The name of a tag has never felt more appropriate before, because it is the middle of the year and I’m freaking out. Where has the first half of 2018 gone? Does anyone know because I feel like not long ago I was writing my post wrapping up 2017. Before I know it I’ll be preparing my post to wrap up 2018. I was tagged by The Orangutan Librarian. Thanks for the tag, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Discussion Time: Do You Ever Feel Nervous about Posting a Negative Review?

When it comes down to it we can’t all love the same books, and even the most hyped up releases, the incredible stories people seem to see nothing but positive reviews for, will have a few negative reviews here and there. We all like different things, we all take the books we read in different ways, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Personally I don’t mind reading negative reviews for books I’ve enjoyed. Even if I’ve really loved a certain book or series it doesn’t mean I expect everyone to, and just the fact that someone else hasn’t enjoyed my favourite book doesn’t mean I then enjoy it any less (OK, there are a few exceptions but I’ll go into them a little later). Does that mean though I don’t worry about expressing my opinion when I’ve not enjoyed a book everyone seems to love? No, it doesn’t.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Kick-Ass Names for Kick-Ass Characters

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Kick-Ass Names for Kick-Ass Characters.

My favourite genre is fantasy, and as well as the names sometimes being hard to pronounce (I know there are a few I’m still pronouncing incorrectly) they’re also pretty kick-ass. Granted names don’t really have much to do with saving the world but an epic name just stands out more, and fantasy is full of epic names.

The Winter Solstice. In a week. I was still new enough to being High Lady that I had no idea what my formal role was to be. If we’d have a High Priestess do some odious ceremony, as lanthe had done the year before—A year. Gods, nearly a year since Rhys had called in his bargain, desperate to get me away from the poison of the Spring Court to save me from my despair. Had he been only a minute later, the Mother knew what would have happened. Where I’d now be. Snow swirled and eddied in the garden, catching in the brown fibres of the burlap covering the shrubs My mate who had worked so hard and so selflessly, all without hope that I would ever be with him We had both fought for that love, bled for it. Rhys had died for it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Books in my Favourite Colour

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books with my Favourite Colour on the Cover.

There are a lot of books that have my favourite colour on the cover. The ones I picked for this week’s theme have just been selected from the books I own, there are plenty more out there I’ve yet to read or that have yet to be released, so I changed the topic to Top Ten Favourite Books in my Favourite Colour.

Top Ten Tuesday: Frequently Used Title Structures for Young Adult Fantasy Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Frequently Used Title Structures for Young Adult Fantasy Books.

This was always something part of me noticed, but that until this Top Ten Tuesday topic I never paid too much attention to. Now I have and it’s become something I can’t get my mind to un-notice.

When it comes to young adult book titles, especially in the fantasy genre, there’s a common structure that seems to be everywhere; ‘[Something] of [Something] and [Something]’. The titles below aren’t even all the ones I was able to find, they’re just all the ones I managed to find before my brain started melting down.
