Top Ten Books I Enjoyed that Are Outside of My Comfort Zone

I’m not very adventurous when it comes to reading. I know what I like – YA fantasy, contemporary and sci-fi – and I’m not good at venturing outside of those genres. Still there have been a few books I’ve discovered, largely thanks to blogging and other bloggers, which I’ve loved so maybe it should be a bookish resolution to try new genres a little more. After all if I’ve enjoyed the ten books I’ve featured  in my list this week there are probably plenty more out there I’ll enjoy.

Top Ten Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes

When it comes to my ‘favourite’ book quotes I have a lot. Some I love because they never fail to bring a smile to my face, others because they’re cute and romantic, and others because they’ve stayed with me no matter how many other books I’ve read since. The ten I picked for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic are all from that last category – quotes that have meant something to me from books I haven’t been able to forget.

The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Four

I’m going back to the Sunshine Blogger Award in this post, because I still have some questions left to answer from more of the amazing bloggers who nominated me for this award. Previously I’ve answered questions on books and questions on my blog and myself, but now in this post I’m going back for more questions on books.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was tagged by Zoie at Whisked Away by Words and Dezzy at The Thoughtful Voice. Thank you both so much for your nominations, I had a lot of fun answering the questions you set and I hope you enjoy reading my answers.

The ‘How I Choose My Books’ Tag

Nine times out of ten I pick up books because the cover has caught my eye, and the blurb sounds like something I’d love. Occasionally though there’s a recommendation I can’t ignore or hype I can’t resist. I was tagged by Dani at Perspective of a Writer, and Anatomy of a Book Thief. Thanks both so much for the tag, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

The Lady Janies Tag

I posted my review for My Plain Jane yesterday, so in my opinion there’s no better time to take part in The Lady Janies Tag than today. I was tagged by Nia at Shades of Paper. Thanks for the tag Nia, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Books to Read in Pairs

The first time I saw this tag I got a little confused because I thought it was “Books to Read in Paris“. Not that I wouldn’t recommend any of these books for reading in Paris, but it would have been a very different tag if I hadn’t quickly realised it was pairs instead. I was tagged by Nicole at Sorry I’m Booked. Thanks so much for the tag Nicole, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Discussion Time: Why I Love Book to Film/TV Adaptations (Even the Terrible Ones)

There are a lot of expectations when it comes to book to film or TV adaptations. We spend so long imagining the story, the characters, and the world in our minds that sometimes it can be a disappointment when we see it on the big screen and it’s not all we’d hoped it would be. There are exceptions, The Book Thief and Stardust are two of mine, but I feel like there are far more disappointments out there.

I’ll be one of many talking about movie adaptations I’ve hated, or about new book editions with the film poster as the cover which I can’t stand, but there are positive for every book to film/TV adaptation even the terrible ones (here’s looking at you, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief).

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Plan to Re-Read this Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Decided to DNF too Quickly.

I mentioned this in a previous Top Ten Tuesday post I took part in; I rarely DNF books, and I certainly haven’t DNF-ed enough of them to come up with ten for this week’s theme. Instead for this week I decided to go in the opposite direction, and instead of talking about the books I hated enough to DNF I’m talking about the books I loved enough to re-read.

Unforgettable Bookish Memories Tag

Despite the fact that this is the Unforgettable Bookish Memories Tag I found some of these questions hard to answer than others, and by some I mean the first two. My memory is terrible, and the first book ever read to me was read to me a long long time ago. I was tagged by The Orangutan Librarian. Thanks for the tag, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

The New Disney Princess Tag

Funnily enough my favourite Disney films don’t even have princess in them (The Fox and the Hound and Alice in Wonderland in case anyone was curious). When it comes to my favourite Disney princess through it’s a hard choice between Belle and Rapunzel. I was tagged by Eva at Brilliantly Bookish, and Sophie at Blame Chocolate. Thanks both so much for the tag, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.
