Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Beginnings and Endings of Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a Top Ten Tuesday Rewind this week, I could pick any topic that had already been done before, so I chose a Top Ten Favourite Beginnings and Endings of Books.

Is it more important for a book to have an amazing beginning or an amazing end? Some people would say beginning – it’s what draws you into the story and those first few pages decide whether you continue with the book or move it aside for another time – and some would say ending – after all do you really want to read 300 odd pages only to be disappointed by the end? Obviously though you want a book to have an amazing beginning and end.

For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday Rewind topic I picked my top five favourite beginnings and my five favourite ends. Although I’d say all ten books on my list are amazing all the way through, not just the beginning and not just the end.

The Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

I was only tagged in the Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag recently, by Lauren at Wonderless Reviews and Jill at Rant and Rave About Books, but despite all the other tags I have in my queue I had to bump this one to the front. It makes sense to do a mid year tag in July, it wouldn’t make sense to do it in September/October after I’ve gotten through all the tags before it in my queue. It was hard to pick only one book for some of these, so I picked two runners up as well.

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Thanks Lauren and Jill for tagging me in this one. I’ve seen loads of people taking part in this tag and I am so excited to get my change to showcase my favourites for the first half of this year.

This tag was created by Chami at ReadLikeWildFire and Ely at Ely Jayne. It’s where we look back at (and freak out over) the books we’ve read during the past six months.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Book BFF’s

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a free pick this week so I chose a Top Ten Tuesday topic from a long while ago; Top Ten Book BFF’s.

The first group of friends I remember reading and falling in love with was Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. I followed their adventures through the seven years they attended Hogwarts and fought off Lord Voldemort and his followers. Ever since then I’ve loved reading any kind of close friendship between two characters, so for this week’s free pick I decided to feature some of my favourite BFF’s from recent books I’ve read.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite 2016 Releases So Far

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Favourite 2016 Releases So Far.

I’ve actually read a lot more books released in 2016 than I originally thought. When I first saw this topic on The Broke and the Bookish blog I thought I’d struggle to find ten; but soon I had ten, fifteen, twenty books released this year that I’d read and loved. There are already more than a few competitors for my top read of 2016 and if the books that are due to be released in the second half of the year are even half as good as I think they will be then there will be a lot more favourites come the end of this year.

Totally Should’ve Book Tag

I’m a little (a lot) ashamed by how long it’s taking me to get through my tags at the moment. I am steadily working through them I just think in the future I’m going to have to post more each month to make a dent in my queue.

I was tagged in the Totally Should’ve Book Tag by Husfa at The Clockwork Millennial, you should all definitely check out her original post, and while you’re there her blog as well because it is amazing. Thanks so much for the tag as well Husfa, I’d seen this around a lot before I was tagged (not so much after for some reason) so I was really excited to be able to take part and post my own answers.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten of My Most Recent Five Star Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten of My Most Recent Five Star Reads.

I’ve already read so many amazing books this year, I even have two that are contending for my top read of 2016. Most of them are completely new series and/or authors whom I only discovered this year since starting my blog. I’ve added a lot of books to my to-read list since joining WordPress and some of my favourite series I only picked up because of the reviews I saw on various blogs I follow.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR Pile

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR Pile.

I have plenty of books on my TBR pile. Some of them are new releases coming out in the Spring months, some of them are books that have been on my to-read list for ages, some are recently released books I’ve heard great things about, and some I’ve only just discovered, new additions to my TBR pile. The one thing they all have in common; I am hoping to finish them all before Spring is over.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Characters I’d Give Theme Songs To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a music themed free pick this week so I chose ten favourite characters and picked a soundtrack for them; Top Ten Characters I’d Give Theme Songs To.

When I first saw this week’s pick I instantly had the perfect song for Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows, but after that it was a struggle coming up with another nine characters. However I love music; I have a lot of songs on my iPod so I put my iTunes on shuffle and browsed my Goodreads read list until I had another nine characters and the perfect songs for them.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a Valentine’s Day themed free pick this week so I chose; Top Ten Favourite YA Couples from Books I’ve Read in the Past Year.

I have a lot of OTP’s and it was a real challenge to narrow it down to just ten. Looking through my ‘Read’ list on Goodreads I saw so many amazing books, all full of amazing characters and amazing relationships; it was nearly impossible to choose. Some of my picks for this week are couples from standalone books or finished series so I know how their stories end, but there are a few from series where the last book is still to be released and I am desperate to find out how it ends, hoping for a happily ever after.
