The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Four

I’m going back to the Sunshine Blogger Award in this post, because I still have some questions left to answer from more of the amazing bloggers who nominated me for this award. Previously I’ve answered questions on books and questions on my blog and myself, but now in this post I’m going back for more questions on books.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was tagged by Zoie at Whisked Away by Words and Dezzy at The Thoughtful Voice. Thank you both so much for your nominations, I had a lot of fun answering the questions you set and I hope you enjoy reading my answers.

Author: Kasie West

Series: N/A

Publisher: Point

Release Date: May 29th 2018

Rating:

Four Stars

Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favourite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.

But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend…until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.

Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.

The Great British Bake Off Book Tag

Next week is the final of The Great British Bake Off. I only started watching this show last year but now I’m hooked, and of course it seemed like the perfect time to take part in this tag (although if I was really organised I would have posted it back when the first episode aired. Oh well). I was tagged by The Orangutan Librarian. Thanks for the tag, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump.

I’m lucky enough that I don’t tend to slump when it comes to reading. I think because I’m a mood reader I always pick up what book I want to read, and if that means I don’t pick up a book then that’s what I do. However in the past I have had some pretty epic slumps, and when it happens I reach for one of two kinds of books; light-hearted and humorous stories with a shippable romance, and YA contemporaries.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books to Read by the Pool

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books to Read by the Pool.

This is my last post before I take a two and a half week break from blogging because I am travelling to Dubai and Mauritius on holiday. I think this is the perfect post to break on because, as well as being ‘Top Ten Books to Read by the Pool’, this is actually my summer holiday TBR list. All these books are sitting on my Kindle waiting for me to read them by the pool in Dubai or on the beach in Mauritius.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR List.

I’ve never really been good at sticking to TBR lists. All you need to do is look at some of the monthly ones I’ve set in the past to see how bad I am at sticking to them. The ten books on my list this week are books I want to read (but as a mood reader that could change at any given time) and that I hope to get around to soon, but whether I do or not is anyone’s guess.

Discussion Time: How Much Do the Covers Influence Our Opinions on Books?

Really quickly before I go into this discussion my comments appear to be being marked as spam by WordPress. If you could check and break me out of spam jail if you see any of my comments there I’d be very grateful.

Everyone’s heard the phrase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ before, but let’s face it in some shape or form we all do. Maybe it’s not as obvious as seeing a book with a bad cover and thinking ‘oh, this is going to be a terrible story’ but I do think, for me especially and maybe you as well, covers influence our opinions on what books we do and don’t pick up.

The covers are always the first things we see. You’re browsing on Amazon, or wandering around Waterstones and you don’t have time to look at every single blurb of every single book so you use the covers to help decide what books you may want to know more about, what books you will read the blurb of.
