This was a difficult topic for me because it’s rare that I pick up epically long books. There’s just something really intimidating when you see a massive book sitting on your shelves and you know it’s going to be a mission getting through it. Still I managed to come up with ten, though I did cheat a little and feature one that I haven’t got around to yet but that I will be reading as soon as I can.

Ages ago (back in March 2017) I took part in another Top Ten Tuesday topic and spoke about some of the authors I’d been lucky enough to meet and some of the authors I still wanted to meet. Granted as I’ve discovered so many amazing books since then I have way more authors I want to meet, but if you don’t see someone on this list who you think would be an obvious choice for me it’s because I’ve already featured them.

One of the things that made this week’s topic such a hard one for me is that when I have a favourite author I tend to binge read everything they’ve released; Marissa Meyer, Samantha Shannon, V.E. Schwab, three of my favourite authors and there’s not one book they’ve released that I haven’t read yet. Still I managed to come up with ten, mainly because my TBR list is that long and that unmanageable.

When I first saw this topic I thought it would be an easy one. I’ve read so many amazing books there are bound to be hundreds I could mash together to create one epic story, but as I started going through my Goodreads ‘read’ list I realised it was harder than I first thought. After all when it comes to all-time favourite books and series of mine, like The Night Circus and the Shades of Magic trilogy, how can they possible get any better?!

There are so many hyped up books out there, and sometimes when it comes to hype I can be my own worst enemy. I build up certain releases in my head so much and while, nine times out of ten, they’re even more amazing than I think they will be, there are some books which unfortunately end up disappointing me. But this week’s theme isn’t about those disappointing books, it’s about the amazing ones.

Mid Year Freak Out Tag

The name of a tag has never felt more appropriate before, because it is the middle of the year and I’m freaking out. Where has the first half of 2018 gone? Does anyone know because I feel like not long ago I was writing my post wrapping up 2017. Before I know it I’ll be preparing my post to wrap up 2018. I was tagged by The Orangutan Librarian. I love to travel, and I read a lot of fantasy books with incredible world-building; but for every couple of worlds I’d give anything to see with my own eyes there’s always one I’d never want to find myself in. I’d kill to visit Le Cirque des Rêves one night, or explore Red London for a day, but I know I wouldn’t survive five minutes as a tribute in the Hunger Games.

Courts of Prythian Book Tag

I was tagged in the Court of Prythian Book Tag when A Court of War and Ruin was released, and it’s taken me so long to get around to it that in the meantime Sarah J. Maas has written and released A Court of Frost and Starlight. Given I will be posting my review of the latter tomorrow I figured now was the perfect time to take part in this tag.

There are a lot of books that have my favourite colour on the cover. The ones I picked for this week’s theme have just been selected from the books I own, there are plenty more out there I’ve yet to read or that have yet to be released, so I changed the topic to Top Ten Favourite Books in my Favourite Colour.
