Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read for the First Time in 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read for the First Time in 2016.

I’ve said time and time before that I’m shocked how quickly this year has gone, but looking back some of the books I read seemed like something I picked up last year at least. How was it only March that I started reading Sarah J Maas’s work, and was it seriously June that I started Wolf by Wolf? I was honestly surprised by some of the books I read this year because it feels like I’ve loved them, and the authors who wrote them, forever.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books To Read If Your Book Club Likes …

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books To Read If Your Book Club Likes …

Male Protagonists in YA Fiction.

A few weeks back I was tagged in the This or That Tag, and one of the questions was if I preferred reading about male or female protagonists. I answered female, not because I don’t enjoy reading about male protagonists but just because there are so many more YA books out there featuring female protagonists. So while thinking of possibilities for this week’s themed free for all topic I decided to feature some of my favourite male protagonists, a list which can hopefully be expanded on as more books are released.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten All Time Favourite Books in the … Genre

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten All Time Favourite Books in the … Genre.

YA Contemporary.

When I saw this week’s theme it took me a while to actually come up with a genre to which I could feature my favourite books. I’d already used my favourite genres for previous Top Ten Tuesday themes – fairytale retellings, mythology, fantasy, sci-fi and I had no new ideas. Then I came up with YA contemporary. It’s a genre I’m slowly exploring more of and I have read some amazing books that have not only become all-time favourites of mine but that I will be going back and re-reading at some point.

The Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

I was only tagged in the Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag recently, by Lauren at Wonderless Reviews and Jill at Rant and Rave About Books, but despite all the other tags I have in my queue I had to bump this one to the front. It makes sense to do a mid year tag in July, it wouldn’t make sense to do it in September/October after I’ve gotten through all the tags before it in my queue. It was hard to pick only one book for some of these, so I picked two runners up as well.

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Thanks Lauren and Jill for tagging me in this one. I’ve seen loads of people taking part in this tag and I am so excited to get my change to showcase my favourites for the first half of this year.

This tag was created by Chami at ReadLikeWildFire and Ely at Ely Jayne. It’s where we look back at (and freak out over) the books we’ve read during the past six months.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Book BFF’s

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a free pick this week so I chose a Top Ten Tuesday topic from a long while ago; Top Ten Book BFF’s.

The first group of friends I remember reading and falling in love with was Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. I followed their adventures through the seven years they attended Hogwarts and fought off Lord Voldemort and his followers. Ever since then I’ve loved reading any kind of close friendship between two characters, so for this week’s free pick I decided to feature some of my favourite BFF’s from recent books I’ve read.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Picked Up On A Whim

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Picked Up On A Whim.

I tend to not pick up books on a whim much. I get recommendations from my friends and from Goodreads, read new books by authors I already love, and when I do find a new books I always wait and anticipate and hype up its release. I did think this week’s topic was going to be a real challenge but when I started looking through the books I’d read recently I was surprised when there were more than a few which I started reading (or brought) on a whim.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books that Made Me Smile and Cry

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books That Made Me Smile and Cry.

I read a lot of books and most I love, but there are few which have made me want to smile so much I physically can’t hold it in. I find myself sat reading with a massive smile on my face because the story or the characters or the relationships just make me so happy I can’t help but smile. Then there are others which have moved me to tears; the story or the situation or even the writing itself is so emotional I can’t help but cry at the saddest parts. So for this week’s theme I didn’t pick books that made me laugh, instead I picked five that I couldn’t help smiling through, and five that moved me to tears.
