The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Three

Another day and another round of answers to the Sunshine Blogger Award questions set for me by the wonderful bloggers who nominated me. The last round of questions I answered in my Sunshine Blogger Award Part Two post delved into my opinions on books, but in this post and with this round of questions I get to talk more about my blog and myself.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books that Surprised Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books that Surprised Me.

In my opinion there’s nothing better than when a book surprises me in a good way. A lot of the books I’ve picked up on a whim have ended up being incredible reads I’m grateful I discovered. However it seems like for every amazing book out there there has been one that ended up really disappointing me, so for this week’s topic I split my list in two and featured five books that surprised me in a good way and five that surprised me in a bad way.

Discussion Time: How Do You Manage Your Expectations for Hyped Books?

We all know what hyped up books are, and likely we’ve all be taken in by the hype at one point or another. But then, what happens when a highly anticipated books is released? Things will go one of two ways; either the book will exceed the hype and exceed everyone’s expectations, or it will fall short and end up disappointing plenty of people.

While everyone has different reading tastes I think hype is universal, and it’s very easy to be taken in by the anticipation and excitement. If a book has enough hype, enough glowing reviews and mentions across social media, then most of the bookish community, regardless of their reading preferences, will be somewhat taken un by the hype.

Books that Made Me Want to Travel

Tomorrow I am going to be launching a new feature on my blog.

It’s very exciting; both because I haven’t ever done anything like this before and because it’s something I can’t wait to share with you all, but more on my new feature at the bottom of this post. Today is more of an introduction to kick things off. You may be able to guess a little about what my new feature will be around based on the title of this post.

After reading, travelling is one of my main loves. I want to see the whole world and I won’t let anything stand in my way. I’ve already been to some amazing countries, with even more on my must-travel-to list, and a lot of my travel destinations have been inspired by books. Reading inspires me to do a lot and when I read about all these places books have been set, so far away from my own home, I can’t help but want to see them for myself.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Loved Less/More Than I Thought I Would

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Loved Less/More Than I Thought I Would.

A lot of the time I read books I have been recommended by other bloggers, so I tend to love them as much as I expect or a little bit more. A lot of the time when I say I enjoy books more than I thought I already knew I was going to love them I just ended up enjoying them that little bit more. The books I picked for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme are books I was genuinely surprised by; five in a good way and five in a bad way.

2016 End of Year Survey

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s hoping you all have an amazing 2017. To celebrate the new year and look back at my reading journey throughout 2016 I decided to take part in the End of Year Survey created and hosted by Jamie at The Perpetual Page-Turner.

2016-end-of-year-survey

Last year I saw a couple of bloggers on WordPress taking part in this. It looked like such a fun way to look back over the year but as I’d already posted an end of year review for 2015 I didn’t see the point in doing another one. Still I remember the survey and now we’ve reached the end of 2016 I’ve taken the opportunity to take part in it myself.

The Harry Potter Book Tag

I love Harry Potter, honestly though is there anyone out there who doesn’t, so when I first saw this tag I was desperate to take part in it. Luckily I was soon tagged by, not only Jess at The Mud and Stars Book Blog, but by Heather at The Sassy Book Geek as well. Thank you both for giving me the opportunity to take part in this tag, everyone else should definitely check out their original posts and while you’re there their blogs as well.

The Pastry Book Tag

Another food tag, yummy! The only thing that would make completing this tag any more fun would be having a tray of pastries by my side to eat while I think of my answers. Sadly I’m going to have to make do imagining all the delicious treats described.

I was tagged by Allie at Multifandomed Book Blogger and Jenna at Fictional Neverland. Thank you both so much for the tag; everyone else should definitely check out Allie’s and Jenna’s original posts and while you’re there check out their blogs as well.
