Top Ten Books I Enjoyed that Are Outside of My Comfort Zone

I’m not very adventurous when it comes to reading. I know what I like – YA fantasy, contemporary and sci-fi – and I’m not good at venturing outside of those genres. Still there have been a few books I’ve discovered, largely thanks to blogging and other bloggers, which I’ve loved so maybe it should be a bookish resolution to try new genres a little more. After all if I’ve enjoyed the ten books I’ve featured  in my list this week there are probably plenty more out there I’ll enjoy.

Top Ten Favourite Books from the Past Ten Years

I can barely remember what I had for dinner last week, so trying to remember what my favourite book was back in 2010, or even just back last year, was a challenge. And that’s saying nothing of the fact that I could only pick one per year. I managed to narrow it down in the end, but I had to make some tough choices but I did stick to just ten. I doubt many of the books on my list this week will be a surprise, because it wouldn’t be a list of my favourite books if I didn’t include some of these.

Top Ten Books that I Refuse to Let Anyone Borrow

When I was in high school me and my friends always used to share our books, but now not so much. Now I don’t lend my books, and not because there’s no one I can trust with them just because of my friends and family I’m the only big reader. No one asks to borrow my books anymore but even if that all changed tomorrow the ten I’ve listed this week are books I will never part with, no matter how much I may trust whoever would be asking for them.

Top Ten Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes

When it comes to my ‘favourite’ book quotes I have a lot. Some I love because they never fail to bring a smile to my face, others because they’re cute and romantic, and others because they’ve stayed with me no matter how many other books I’ve read since. The ten I picked for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic are all from that last category – quotes that have meant something to me from books I haven’t been able to forget.

Top Ten Rainy Day Reads

I’m finally back to the set topics for my Top Ten Tuesday posts. Being a mood reader I’ve never given too much thought as to what kind of books I’d pick up as ‘rainy day’ reads, but thinking about it for this post the first books that came to mind were fantasy stories (of course) with immersive worlds (so you can put the rainy weather outside out of your mind). A lot of the books that made my list this week probably won’t surprise many people, because in my opinion the best ‘rainy day’ book is one that’s almost comforting to re-read.

The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Four

I’m going back to the Sunshine Blogger Award in this post, because I still have some questions left to answer from more of the amazing bloggers who nominated me for this award. The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Two

I have some more nominations for the Sunshine Blogger Award sitting in my tags queue so it’s about time I got around to answering a few more of them. If you want to learn more about my general opinions on the worst books I’ve read, or the worst book-to-film adaptations I’ve seen, or get some recommendations for bookish blogs to check out then this is the post for you.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Standalone Books that Need a Sequel

Top Ten Standalone Books that Need a Sequel

It’s rare I read standalones because in the fantasy genre most books tend to be part of series. I guess authors need more than one book to fully develop the characters and the plot when they have to create a new world as well. However there are few standalones that I’ve finished and been desperate for more of, so this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic was a good excuse for me to flail a little more over the endings of books which I’m still not over.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Characters I’d Like to Switch Places With

Top Ten Characters I’d Like to Switch Places With

For me this list could very easily be top twenty, or even top one hundred, characters I’d like to switch places with. I read a lot of fantasy books, and sometimes there are worlds I just want to be able to fall into the way I do the stories I read; after all who hasn’t finished Harry Potter and immediately wished for their own letter from Hogwarts. Still I managed to keep my list to ten this week, and no I didn’t include Harry Potter/Hogwarts because I feel that’s kind of a given.

The Twenty Questions Book Tag

You may have noticed I disappeared for the last two weeks. Where was I? Good question. I’m not sure what happened but I just suffered from a major slump and everything – blogging, reading, life in general – felt like a struggle. Still I’m back now, and slowly catching up on the posts I’ve missed over the past couple of weeks.

And what better way is there to get back into blogging than posting a book tag? Because let’s face it who doesn’t have an opinion on whether hardcovers or paperbacks are better, or on love triangles in general? I do, and I’m certain some people already know the answers to these questions I’m that outspoken about them. I was tagged by May at Forever and Everly. Thanks for the tag May, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.
