The Unique Blogger Award

I’ve been nominated for The Unique Blogger Award before, but different questions means you get another one of these posts from me. There are only three questions but I feel like my answers represent me as a person quite well, so after reading this there should be nothing more you need to know about me.

The Unique Blogger Award

I was tagged by Grey at Use Your Words. Thank you so much for the nomination Grey, I enjoyed answering the questions you set so I hope you enjoy reading my answers.

Grey’s Questions

  1. What is your favourite reading beverage?

In my opinion when I’m reading there’s nothing better than a cup of tea to go alongside my favourite book. I can’t have caffeine so I switched to green tea a few years back and now I’m pretty much addicted. My favourites are the fruity flavours; Twinnings apple and pear or Tetley tropical fruits.

  1. Which mythical animal would you like as a pet?

Definitely a dragon. I’d want one that can fly, travelling to work via dragon would be so much better than my current commute by train, one that can breathe fire, I’m always cold no matter how warm it is outside, and one that hoards gold, so I’d never need to worry about money again.

  1. Who is your favourite villain?

I’m not sure if you can class him as a villain but Holland from the Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. His development was incredible, I went from hating him in the first book to loving him by the third when we saw more of everything he had faced in White London.

V.E. Schwab writes incredible villains; I love Victor and Eli from Vicious as much as I love Holland.

And my questions are;

  1. What’s the worst thing you’ve done to a book (accidentally ripped one of the pages while reading, spilt a drink all over it, etc.)?
  2. If you could travel back in time and re-live one moment of your life which moment would you choose and why?
  3. If you could take the place of one bookish character who would you choose, and would you follow the plot of their story or not?

As for everyone else reading this post let me know what your favourite reading beverage is.

Do you stick with caffeine-free drinks like I do or do you survive off of coffee? Who do you think is the best author when it comes to writing villains, is there someone out there better than V.E. Schwab?

  1. I love your answers, and those ending questions made me laugh. “What is the worst thing you’ve ever done to a book?” Oh man… I let one moulder on my roof for five years. I also accidentally set one on fire when I was drunk. Ah, college… XD;;

      1. A fair question! It was a thick, hardcover book by of essays by Christopher Hitchens. Easily my sturdiest volume, therefore my go-to choice for keeping my window open XD. One day — I forget how — it fell onto the porch roof outside my second story bedroom window. I could have risked wandering out there to retrieve it, but the roof was old and incredibly soggy. I didn’t dare XD

      2. Ahh, that makes more sense, and thinking about it it’s something I can easily see myself doing too. Maybe for a book I loved I’d have been willing to risk the old soggy roof but it would have to be a pretty amazing book for me to risk it! I think you made the right choice. 🙂

  2. I’m totally with you on Victor and Holland, I love my morally grey disasters 🥰 I still have to read the rest of the Darker Shade of Magic books though 😃 I also love drinking tea (though I love coffee too), my favorite is probably peppermint 🍵

  3. I love your answers Beth! I also love green tea, or matcha. I usually drink a decaf tea or Chai lattes when I’m reading because I can’t have caffeine either. I do drink decaf coffee still because I love the taste!

I love your answer for fave villain, Schwab does write the best villains!

  4. Love your answers—especially the dragon one! It really covers all of your bases 😂. Also, I’ve always loved the ~ aesthetic ~ of drinking tea while reading, but I can’t have caffeine either. Maybe I’ll give green tea a shot!
Thanks for the tag, Beth 😁!

  5. Hey Beth!!!
I love tea as well and I can’t live a day without sipping some kind of tea haha. Recently I’ve been loving Asian tea, such as genmaicha and laoshan tea 🙂
Commuting to work on a dragon sounds like a lot of fun!! I would totally do that too!
Holland, Victor, and Eli are some of my favourite villains/anti-heroes too. VE Schwab is great at writing morally grey characters!
    Great post ❤

    1. Yeah I can’t live without it, I can’t have caffeine so I need green tea to function properly. Plus the flavours are really yummy, that one sounds really nice. 🙂
If you’re going to go for a mythological pet go for the biggest and best right?
Definitely, I’m rereading Shades of Magic at the moment and still really loving it.
      Thanks. 🙂 ❤

      1. That’s great that you’re liking ADSOM the second time around. I’m also unfortunately not having much time to read these days but hopefully this will change soon!

  6. Coffee or red wine would be.my choices…depending on what I’m reading. Coffee if its its something I have to concentrate on. Not read any V.E Schwab, but a few writers of villains come to mind. Thomas Harris character Hannibal Lecter…Stephen King’s many scary guys in the shadows such as the killer clown in the book IT. But ages ago i read a book by T. Jefferson Parker called Where Serpents Lie and i cant remember the name of the bad guy in it but he made Hannibal Lecter look almost angelic.

    1. For me it’s green tea no matter what I’m reading, but I suppose the caffeine in coffee could help you concentrate on what you’re reading right? Oh I haven’t read Hannibal Lecter, I saw Silence of the Lambs when I was ten and was kind of scared by the whole thing, and I’m not a fan of scary movies so Stephen King has never been an author I’ve reached for but I’ve heard good things about his writing.

  7. Great answers, Beth! I’m all about the caffeine; that’s what I’m running on right now, haha! A great joy for me is waking up on the weekend, grabbing a cup of coffee or tea with a book 😀
A dragon sounds like a fun pet! 🙂

      1. Last week, I waited to have a coffee because if I have too much in one day I get the shakes. My co-worker wanted to grab a latte at the end of the day, and so I went without my morning one and oh myyy my body went into shock, like what are you doing to me. I felt like crap… so I need caffeine. Which sucks.
        Haha! I agree! 🙂
