Brotherhood of the World Bloggers Award

Another day another award post, and if you’ve ever been curious about the blogger behind the blog then this is (one of) the post(s) for you. I was tagged by The Orangutan Librarian. Thanks for the tag, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Brotherhood of the World Bloggers Award

Briefly explain your blogging style (Your favourite blogging spot/tools – As in, on the couch using your Smartphone or something).

My favourite blogging spot, and the place where nearly all my blogging is done, is my chair in my room. It’s in front of my bookshelves and my TV so I have a music video channel (usually 4Music) playing in the background, a cup of tea nearby, and my laptop on my lap.

The Rising Author Tag (3)

Every so often though, if I’ve finished a book I’m reading and I’m not in the mood to pick up something else immediately after, I will use my iPhone to comment/blog hop on my commute home.

How do you manage your blogging time including blog reading time?

Not very well is the short answer. On weekdays when I come home in the evenings after work I focus on commenting and blog hopping before anything else.

I only write new posts on the weekends when I have more time in the day to spend on WordPress. Currently I have over 30 posts saved in my Drafts folder, which has been a lifesaver because after a full-on day at work and then a couple of hours of blog hopping I’d never have the energy to write and publish a new post as well.

Who is your most read author?

Rick Riordan

So far I’ve read thirteen of his books, and if he keeps releasing them that number will get higher and higher. At the moment those thirteen books don’t take into account his Magnus Chase or Trials of Apollo series’ which I haven’t started yet.

Rick Riordan

How did you come up with your blog name?

There’s no special meaning behind my name, like I know there can be for other bloggers. I wanted to include something book/reading related because of what I was going to be posting about (books) so I spent an hour or two playing around with different words until I found a combination that was available and that I felt fit.

Reading Every Night was perfect because it’s pretty much what I do.

What keeps you blogging?

Two things. First is the community and the amazing friends I’ve made, interacting with everyone on WordPress is what makes the long hours blogging takes worthwhile, and second is simply because I love it. Blogging is a hobby and the only reason I see myself stopping is if it ever becomes more of a chore than anything else, but fingers crossed that won’t happen anytime soon.

I’m not going to tag anyone in the Brotherhood of the World Bloggers Award, but if you want to take part then consider yourself tagged.

What’s everyone else’s blogging style; do you have the TV on in the background while replying to comments, or do you need complete silence to focus on blog hopping? How did you come up with your blog name? Who is your most read author? Let me know.

  1. I love this post, Beth ❤️
OMG! Your Winnie the Pooh mug is SO cute 😭😍 I love it! Definitely have to agree about the community, it’s the one reason I keep coming back to blogging after taking a break.

Also I love your blogs name. I think it really fits with you and your blog ❤️

  2. Hello Beth. I loved knowing more about you. I write sitting on my couch during the day. I can’t hear music or watch TV when I write as I find them too distracting. But when I blog hop I usually have them running on. I wish I could write a lot more and save them in my drafts, sigh I am still running behind each day’s post.

    1. Hi, and thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Yeah for me not having something playing in the background would be too distracting. Having blog posts saved has really saved me, but don’t worry I’m massively behind on my reviews at the moment so I know where you’re coming from despite the drafts I have saved. 🙂

  3. I love this tag, Beth! I really need to get some kind of chair or beanbag in my room to write on, but I just end up sitting/lying down on my bed, which is not good for my already bad posture haha. And I wish I had 30 post drafts ready to publish!! I think I have like 14 except all but most are abandoned drafts I’m too lazy to delete 😅 And Rick Riordan is probably my most read author as well, especially if you count all the times I’ve reread his books! I have no complaints, he can take all my love and support ❤

    1. Thanks so much May. 🙂 Ha, yeah I sometimes used to write while sitting in bed and a lot of times it just made me so dozy I’d fall asleep while writing. 😀 I’ve got to admit having so many drafts definitely comes in handy. Oh, I haven’t re-read any of his books, to be honest I didn’t think of taking re-reads into account.

  4. THAT HUFFLEPUFF PILLOW ❤ I love Hogwarts houses, I’m always either sorted into Hufflepuff or Slytherin, it’s never consistently one of the other???? I feel like I’d lowkey be a Slytherin who just wants to make soft friendships

+ I relate so much to managing blogging time, I’m v bad at blog hopping skdf . i need to complete the “favorite bloggers” page on my blog, and then just go there daily and make sure I’m caught up w everyone’s posts, so I get to read everything. I’m just so disorganized at this point gosh XD

Also, Rick Riordan is so amazing, I’m about to start book 2 of Percy Jackson and my sister just finished it and apparently Percy makes a cute cyclops friend? Which I’m TREMENDOUSLY happy about c: c:

+++++++I love your blog name, it’s so relatable and comforting, bc it’s literally what I do as welllll. My blog name shows just how lazy and unoriginal I truly am lolol. I remember sitting there for hours and I couldn’t think of anything, so I panicked and used the first I could think of

    1. Nothing wrong with being two houses! I feel like one of the sorting quizzes I took told me the order of the houses I was in (so what percentage Hufflepuff I was and what percentage Ravenclaw I was, etc.) but I forgot what the second result was (first was Hufflepuff of course)! 😀
I always make sure I check the Reader tab on WordPress, so even if I don’t manage to get as much blog hopping done in a certain week as I want to I know I’ve caught up with my favourite bloggers who I follow.
Yeah there’s a cyclops in the second book, I love him, and thanks so much Malanie. 🙂 To be honest Reading Every Night was just the first combination of words that was actually free on WordPress, so really I just did the same as you, sat there for hours until I found something that fitted. 🙂

  5. I really liked these questions, because I’ve never thought about someone else’s blogging process and I’m now really curious. I like listening to music when I’m writing, but I find that watching a movie or show in the mean time distracts me too much; or I have to pause it, because the words of the movie start coming off in my writing. I think this is what writers mean when they say they need instrumental when they’re writing. It doesn’t happen to me when it’s music though, probably because my mind goes off the words, and I just focus on the melody. And having a lot of posts in your drafts, I totally relate to that! And it has already proved to be a life-saver; when I’m not in the mood to come up with something new, I just publish something I’d already written when I was much more inspired, and it’s super convenient.
    Thanks for sharing, Beth!

    1. Yeah blogging is very much a solo hobby, in that we all have our own way of writing and commenting and blog hopping, so I always find it interesting to kind of peek into someone else’s mind and see how they do things. Normally when I’m writing or blogging I just get so into it that I tune out most of the song or TV show too, but that’s why I always put something on which I’ve seen a million times before and which acts as nothing more than background. Like Friends, I know the plot if every single episode so it doesn’t matter if I miss the middle fifteen minutes because I’m so absorbed in blogging because I can pay attention again and know where I am in the story.
Exactly, I think I need to have a minimum or a weeks worth of posts saved (which for me is four or five) just in case I ever feel a little slump-y. It has been a real life-saver for me at times.
That’s all right, I’m glad you enjoyed this post. 🙂 ❤

  6. This is such a fun tag, Beth, I loved your answers and I love how similar our blogging routine is, too 🙂 I also tend to focus on comments and blog hopping during the week and on writing blog posts on the weekend, too. I admire that you have SO many blog posts saved though, that’s amazing and I can imagine how much of a life saver it is,too, haha 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Marie. 🙂 ❤️ Yeah I guess we’ve all probably found something similar that works for us haven’t we? The weekdays work is normally so hectic all I have the energy for is blog hopping. Oh it’s definitely been a lifesaver having so many blog posts saved. That way if I don’t feel like writing any one weekend I don’t have to worry, and same thing if I’m ever in a reading slump. 🙂

  7. Hello Beth!!
Love reading your answers here and learning more about you and your blogging habits! I can definitely relate to some of your habits here. I also write blog posts on my couch with a cup of tea. I love earl grey though recently I’m gotten into a Chinese oolong tea (a gift from my dad haha).
I also read during my commute and I write blog posts during the weekend (Sundays specifically.) Although when the weekends are busy sometimes I defer my blog-post writing until the weekdays, but it does feel less organized haha. That’s awesome that you have 30 blog posts drafted already! Seems like a good idea to keep some stashed away for rainy days 🙂
This seems like a fun tag to do so I might nominate myself here haha 🙂 Great post Beth ❤ Hope your week is going well and have a wonderful weekend ❤

    1. Thanks so much Sophie. 🙂 ❤️ Oh you need tea when you’re blogging sometimes, especially in the winter when it’s so cold. For me it’s always green tea, it’s the only tea I drink but I’m addicted! Ohh, Chinese oolong sounds good too. Would you recommend trying it?
Work is just so hectic recently the only time I have free to write posts is the weekend, but having the drafts means I don’t need to worry as much if one weekend is busy and I don’t get a chance to write anything. It’s definitely helped.
Definitely, I’d love to see your answers for this one Sophie, and it was a lot of fun to take part too. Thanks, I hope your weekend is going well too. 🙂 ❤️

      1. Yes I have to have tea at all times during the winter haha. Usually at work I am drinking 4 or 5 cups a day!
I would definitely recommend oolong tea! From my understanding it is somewhere in between black tea and green tea. I find that it is a lighter and more refreshing taste than black tea so in that aspect it might taste more like green tea 🙂
Sounds like it’s a really busy time for you! Do take some time to relax, unwind and rest.
That’s great that you have a good stash of blog post drafts on hand. It might be a good idea for me to haha 🙂

      2. Same, I can’t go through six or seven cups during the weekdays when I’m working. Ohh, well I love black tea and love green tea so it sounds like I need to check out oolong soon.
I’d recommend it, I can’t say how much of a lifesaver it’s ended up being for me at times. 😀
