You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag

When the Pingback for this tag first appeared in my notifications I thought it was a strange and possibly passive aggressive insult, then I realised it was a tag and had to laugh at how ridiculous I was being. I was tagged by Anny at The Mystique Reader. Thanks so much for the tag Anny, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

You only have one more spot on your spelling bee team, who would you choose to complete your team?

Kaz from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, or Rhy from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I’m going to say Kaz. While I think that Rhy would be the better speller of the two, Kaz would be the one I want on my team because he’d be willing to do anything to win; be it cheating, stealing, or just lying through his teeth.

Both these characters want to kill you, which character would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

Julian from Caraval by Stephanie Garber, or Saul from A Million Junes by Emily Henry

Definitely Julian because he’s a tricky character and seems to keep a lot of secrets that could make him dangerous down the line.

You are on the Bachelor or Bachelorette and these are the last two people, who are you giving your final rose to?

Arcus from Frostblood by Elly Blake, or Sarai from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Probably Sarai, and mainly because I’d be too scare that if I didn’t give her the rose she’d come after me in my nightmares with her moths.

You have been chosen for the Hunger Games, which of these characters are most likely to volunteer to take your place?

Aelin from Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas, or Helene from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I can’t see either of them volunteering out of the goodness of their hearts, but I can see Aelin volunteering simply because she wants to test her skills out in the Games and prove she’s the very best.

You are stranded on an island, which character would you sacrifice to cannibalism?

Metias from Legend by Marie Lu, or Roza from Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

Metias because he’s already dead in the books, so that takes the sacrificing part out of the equation.

You are the next DC or Marvel superhero, which of these characters would you want as your sidekick?

Newt from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling, or Simon from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Oh this is a hard one, but I think I’m going to have to say Newt. He has magic, a suitcase full of adorable and potentially dangerous creatures, and unlike Simon he’s in control of his magic.

You’re a manager of an avocado admiring company, which character would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Doc Jackson from Gilded Cage by Vic James, or AIDAN from Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

This is another hard one, but I’m probably going to have to go with Doc Jackson. He lies for most of Gilded Cage, which wouldn’t be ideal for his communication skills, and AIDAN is an AI system so it could literally be programmed to have great communication skills.

You’ve just finished a book in which your favourite character dies, which character would most likely comfort you?

Eliot from Invictus by Ryan Graudin, or Noemi from Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray

Both of them have too much going on in their own lives to offer much comfort but I’d say Eliot. After everything she’s seen and done she’d probably know exactly what to say to make me feel better, and in a way get over it.

It is high school, which of these characters would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Cinder from Cress by Marissa Meyer, or Scorpius from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

Cinder, definitely Cinder. She’s dating a Emperor after all, and the whole point of The Cursed Child was that Albus and Scorpius were the outcasts, the spares.

It’s your birthday, which character would have the nerve to forget?

Jest from Heartless by Marisa Meyer, or Blue from The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

For some reason I’m going to say Jest. He’s the kind of character who wouldn’t see birthdays as being important but would likely do something to celebrate a random day in the calendar instead.

You’ve just found an upcoming Booktube star, which character would it most likely be?

Raffe from Angelfall by Susan Ee, or Mustang from Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I can’t imagine either of these characters starting a Booktube, like at all. I’m going to say Mustang but it would have to be books she’d likely read, so books on strategy, war games, subterfuge and battle. That kind of thing.

Sleepover time! Unfortunately, you can only invite one person, who would it be?

Sebastian from City of Glass by Cassandra Clare, or Nick from The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

There’s no way in hell I’d trust Sebastian anywhere near me or my house while I’m sleeping so it would definitely be Nick.

Bam! you’re pregnant, who is the father (or mother…)?

Gideon from Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, or Nico from The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Seeing as Nico’s gay that leaves Gideon for this one.

You’ve just written a super important text, who would read it and not reply?

The Darkling from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, or Mariko from Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh

The Darkling because I can see him ignoring texts, or even reading it and disregarding it, because it doesn’t fit in with his plans or with his ideas.

You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast, your mum has suddenly been replaced, who has she been replaced by?

Cassian from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, or Nesbitt from Half Lost by Sally Green

Probably Nesbitt. I can’t see Cassian being maternal and while I can’t see Nesbitt either he works for Van so he is used to looking out for someone at least.

My tags:

Which character would you want to be your superhero sidekick? If you were having a sleepover and could only invite one character who would it be, and alternatively which character would never get an invitation? Let me know, andΒ if there’s anyone out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged.

    1. That’s all right, and I’m glad you enjoyed reading my answers.
I think everyone must be in the same boat then. I guess when you get a notification pop up you don’t tend to read more than the title at first glance right? πŸ˜€

  1. hahaha I love how you thought this tag was a passive aggressive insult- LOL! hahaha Kaz is definitely the person to have on your team πŸ˜‰ hahaha fair point about Sarai. Oh yeah Aelin would definitely volunteer just to show off πŸ˜‰ haha yeah the Darkling would ignore texts for sure.

  2. Hahaha, Aelin would truly just volunteer to show off and as practice for herself! And Cass as a mom would be great to see but yeah, the better and more practical choice is definitely Nesbitt.

  3. I love this tag! I’ve come across it a couple of times and have got it scheduled to do, I just haven’t made my character list yet! Newt v Simon was a very hard choice – being in control of magic is a good way of swinging it though. This was such fun, loved it.

    1. I haven’t seen it around much but you’ll have to let me know when you post yours. I had such a lot of fun with this one and I’d love to see other characters people picked for each question. πŸ™‚
It was the only way I could narrow it down, because in an ideal world I would have picked both of them! πŸ˜€
      Thanks so much. πŸ™‚ ❀️

    1. Ha, yeah and when I just saw the notification pop up randomly on my phone the title of this tag was a little more misleading. πŸ™‚
Oh yeah Lyssandra would be a great side kick. I love her in the ToG books plus you’re right better a secondary character than a protagonist. πŸ˜€
