Types of Memes Book Tag

I will admit I’m not a massive fan of memes. I rarely use them but I did have a lot of fun searching through all the different memes on Pinterest to pick which ones I was going to use in this tag, so maybe I should use them more. I was tagged by Sophie at Blame Chocolate and Azia at The Uncharted Word. Thank you both so much for the tag, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

“Grumpy Cat”
A book you have negative feelings about

The Truth and Lies of Ella Black by Emily Barr

Honestly both of Emily Barr’s books could answer this question. The concepts sound amazing, and the way she describes the settings is incredible, but that’s where the positives end. With The Truth and Lies of Ella Black I hated the main character and hated the insta-love between Ella and Christian.

A book you spoiled for yourself

The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan

Granted I haven’t read this book yet, but I’ve already been spoiled for it because I know about the major character death. I didn’t mean to spoil myself but honestly given how popular Rick Riordan’s books are I’m surprised I didn’t come across spoilers for his series before this.

“I Don’t Always”
A book you don’t always like, but when you’re reading it you do

I’m not sure how to answer this one because I don’t read books I don’t always like (I’m a mood reader so I don’t think I can read books I don’t like) but I do struggle to get into magical realism books when I first pick them up, just because of the overall style of the genre.

“60’s Spiderman”
A good classic or retro book that’ll never get old

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

This is a very cliché answer but honestly it’s the only book I could have possibly picked; I don’t read classics, and Harry Potter is a series I’ve literally grown up with. I could re-read this book and this series every year for the rest of my life and I know I’ll ever stop loving it.

A book that’s very relatable

Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde

Between the incredible representation, especially of Taylor’s anxiety issues, and the fact that Queens of Geek is set in the middle of a convention and is full of fan-loving characters I feel like this is a book that’s relatable to everyone in one way or another. It’s such a fun read, and a favourite of mine too.

A book that you’ve seen almost everywhere

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Don’t get me wrong I love this book, and I think it’s incredible that I’m seeing it everywhere. Everyone seems to have read and loved this book, and with the film being released  it’s being highlighted everywhere which is great because The Hate U Give has such an important message.

A predictable book

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Reading Ash Princess I felt like I could have been reading Red Queen, or reading any generic fantasy book with a royal fighting to take back her throne and a love triangle between the prince and the childhood best friend. There was nothing new about this book to keep me invested.

A book you binge read

Oh there are plenty of books I binge read, considering how fast I read I could use pretty much all of the books I’ve picked up recently to answer this question. The short answer is that any book that’s an anticipated release of mine is a book I’ll end up binge reading.

A book that taught you something new

Circe by Madeline Miller

Greek mythology is a huge love of mine, and when it comes to Greek mythology Madeline Miller is probably the best author there is. Circe was an amazing read, and it taught me so much about Greek mythology just spanning the many centuries Circe was exiled on Aiaia.

“Pet Memes”
A book that’s just really adorable

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

This book is always the first one I reach for when I’m in the middle of a reading slump, just because it’s got that feel-good feel to it that never fails to make me feel better. The characters are really cute, the romance is OTP and ship-worthy, and the plot itself is more light and humorous than not.
