Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books by my Favourite Authors that I Still Haven’t Read.
One of the things that made this week’s topic such a hard one for me is that when I have a favourite author I tend to binge read everything they’ve released; Marissa Meyer, Samantha Shannon, V.E. Schwab, three of my favourite authors and there’s not one book they’ve released that I haven’t read yet. Still I managed to come up with ten, mainly because my TBR list is that long and that unmanageable.
Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
I discovered Jay Kristoff though The Illuminae Files which he wrote with Amie Kaufman, and since then I’ve read and loved both his Nevernight series and LifeL1K3. The Lotus Wars is a series I haven’t heard much about, but give who it’s written by it’s definitely on my TBR list for one day.
Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi
Why haven’t I read this yet?! When I heard Tahereh Mafi was going back to her Shatter Me series and releasing a new books I was so excited because I wanted more from Juliette and Warner and Kenji. I’ve heard good things about Restore Me too so I’m really not sure what’s stopping me from picking it up myself.
The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
When it comes to The Assassin’s Blade (and Tower of Dawn which also could have made my list this week) I know exactly why I haven’t read it. As much as I love Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass series I’m not motivated at all to pick this book up. I will, and soon to, with Kingdom of Ash being released I have no excuse.
Once and For All by Sarah Dessen
I am woefully behind when it comes to Sarah Dessen’s releases (and she’s one of my all-time favourite YA contemporary authors so I need to get up to speed quick). I’m up to What Happened to Goodbye now though, so I only have four more books still to read before I’m up to date.
Ice Wolves by Amie Kaufman
As much as Amie Kaufman has yet to release a book I haven’t loved, what’s making me a little hesitant about Ice Wolves is that it’s middle grade (not my usual age range when it comes to books) and not sci-fi (which is what Amie Kaufman has largely written and what I’ve largely loved by her).
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Maggie Stiefvater’s books have always been a little hit or miss for me; I loved The Raven Cycle series but couldn’t get past the first Wolves of Mercy Falls book. Granted I’ve heard good things about The Scorpio Races so it’s still on my TBR list (unlike the rest of The Wolves of Mercy Falls series) but it’s not very high up.
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
The majority of people loved Eleanor & Park, but there are a few others out there who have more mixed opinions and it’s made me a little hesitant about starting this one. Granted I’ll get around to it eventually, and knowing some of the negatives I may end up enjoying Eleanor & Park more than I think I will, but at the moment it’s not a priority of mine.
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
I know I need to get through the second half of The Mortal Instruments series before I can start The Dark Artifices trilogy, but I’m just not motivated to pick these books up. I’ve heard mixed things about them so I have a feeling I’ll keep putting them off until I can’t anymore (until the month before Queen of Air and Darkness is released when I want to read Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows).
Cheating Death by April White
The Immortal Descendants is one of my all-time favourite series (and a real hidden gem, not enough people know about these books), and after the cliffhanger book four ended on I was counting down the days until the release of Cheating Death, but then I never picked it up when it was released. Why? Who knows because I don’t have a clue.
Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
My plan for Rick Riordan’s books is to read one of his series per year; this year it was The Kane Chronicles so next year it’s going to be the Magnus Chase trilogy. Then the year after that, when all the books have been released, it will be The Trials of Apollo.
So what do you think? Did you take part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, if so let me know what books by your favourite authors you haven’t got to yet? Would any of the books I featured make your list, or if you have read any of these books do you have recommendations as to which one I should start next.
Your strategy with Uncle Rick’s series sounds amazing, I’m always wondering how to read his series. I’m somewhat stuck with the last two books from Heroes of Olympus and I’ve found that series so much slower than PJATO and it’s frustrating me to no end because I want to read Apollo’s series and also Magnus. But I want to read them somewhat chronologically
I haven’t read anything by Jay Kristoff, but I want to change that because everybody loves his books and they really seem great. I’ll have to make them a priority.
Lovely post! ❤

Yeah I am slowly making my way through his books, but the way I’m doing it works well because I don’t have to cope with cliffhanger endings (not a fan of those at all). Oh hopefully you’ll make it through the Heroes of Olympus series, I’m sure once you do it will be worth it to be able to get around to Apollo’s and Magnus’s series.
He’s an amazing author, I’m sure you won’t regret picking up his books because from what I’ve read the hype for his books is very real.
Thanks so much. 🙂 ❤

I have so so many of Sarah Dessen’s books still to read but I always love them when I get to them. With that being said, I ADORED Once and For All

Yeah she’s definitely an author who you know where you’re at with. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one or two more of her books crossed off my TBR list before this year is over. 🙂

I loved reading the Assassin’s Blade when I was binge-reading the entire ToG series two years ago, but for some reason I haven’t felt inclined to pick up any of Sarah J. Maas’s newer books either! I think it’s a bit intimidating for me to get back into her fantasy series after a year being away for it, since it’s so complex. Hopefully we’ll both get in the mood to read her books soon, especially with Kingdom of Ash coming out soon! 😊 Great picks!

I think maybe before the release of Kingdom of Ash I’ll re-read all her books and that may motivate me to finally pick up Tower of Dawn and The Assassin’s Blade, but I get what you mean because her books aren’t short and light stories are they? Fingers crossed, either way as the last book in the series Kingdom of Ash is going to be epic and well worth reading. 🙂
Thanks so much. 🙂 ❤️

I hope you enjoy The Assassin’s Blade and Magnus Chase, I loved both of them! The Scorpio Races was good, but I prefer The Raven Cycle.

Thanks so much, and I’m glad to hear someone say they loved The Assassin’s Blade, may actually convince me to get around to it sooner rather than later! 😀
Yeah I doubt anything can beat The Raven Cycle series for me, but The Scorpio Races sounds good so I’ll have to give it a go someday. 🙂

It’s definitely worth it, there are a lot of stories in there that you will probably need to understand Tower of Dawn and the last book. The Scorpio Races is still really good, just not quite as good as The Raven Cycle.

Yeah my plan is to re-read the whole of the Throne of Glass series on the run up to the release of Kingdom of Ash. That will of course include The Assassin’s Blade and Tower of Dawn. 🙂

Thanks so much Trang. 🙂 I’ve been meaning to get around to Restore Me ever since it was released, but I’m just bad with TBR lists so I keep postponing it. 🙂 Here’s hoping we both get around to it soon! 😀 ❤️

Lovely list, Beth! I can’t wait for you to read Restore Me, I really hope you’ll be able to soon, it was a wonderful addition to the series and… that ending, well, you have to read it so we can talk about it together haha 😀
I haven’t read everything by Sarah Dessen, but Once and For All is one of these books I have read and enjoyed a whole lot, I hope you’ll feel the same way about it 😀

Thanks so much Marie. 🙂 Yeah I want to say Restore Me is high on my list because I loved the first three books and I can’t wait to read more (plus more Kenji!) but I have a bad track record with TBR lists it seems. 🙂
Oh that’s good to hear. She’s one of my favourite YA contemporary authors so I’m sure I won’t be let down by Once and For All.
Thanks Marie. 🙂 ❤️

Magnus Chase is amazing, it’s my favorite Series by Rick Riordan 😍 I hope you end up enjoying it + The Trials of Apollo Series later on 🙂

I’ll have to wait for all the books in The Trials of Apollo series to have been released before I can pick it up, but I’m sure I’ll love it and the Magnus Chase series as well. I’ve yet to read a book by Rick Riordan I haven’t loved! 🙂

I love Eleanor & Park! I haven’t read Magnus Chase and Restore Me either, hopefully I could get to them next year 🙂

One day I’ll get around to it I’m sure. 🙂 Yeah I generally hear nothing but amazing things about Rick Riordan’s books, and I’ve also seen some great reviews for Restore Me too. Fingers crossed we’ll both be able to get around to them soon! 😀

Hopefully it won’t be long before I’m caught up too. Then again I’ve been trying for a couple of years now. I love her writing so I’m not sure what’s taking me so long. 🙂

Ohh, you’ll have to let me know if it’s good as an audiobook. I keep meaning to try one but can never decide on which one to try. 🙂

All of Amie Kaufman’s audiobooks are wonderful, and Jonathan McClain who narrates it also was a narrator for Illuminae and These Broken Stars.

Oh I’ll have to check it out then. I’ve loved all her books so far and seeing as I have one left on my TBR list I may as well give it a go as an audiobook. Thanks. 🙂

I can’t remember what other books Amie Kaufman wrote, but I recognize the name. I know I read something by her.

She’s mainly written sci-fi books, which I love. 🙂 I think at the moment she’d be most known for the Illuminae Files which she wrote with Jay Kristoff, but she also wrote the Starbound series with Meagan Spooner.

I’ve not read The Assassins Blade yet either. I’ve had it on my shelf for years but I don’t think I’m ever going to get around to it and I’ve got no idea why. I still need to read Tower of Dawn too, I’m so behind haha!

Yeah for some reason as much as I’ve loved all of SJM’s books so far I can’t seem to motivate myself to read either The Assassin’s Blade or Tower of Dawn. One day hopefully we’ll both get to them. 🙂
