Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Fall 2018 TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on my Fall 2018 TBR List.

I already have a TBR list that grows longer with every passing second thanks to WordPress, but with all the amazing books being released (some of which are my most anticipated release for this year overall) I wonder if I’ll ever get to the end of it. Still as much as being a mood reader means I pick up what books I want to when I want to there are some reads I know I’ll be starting as soon as I can get a copy of the book in my hands.

The Raging Ones by Krista Ritchie and Becca Ritchie

When I saw a review for this book on Lilly’s blog I know that I needed to get around to this one ASAP. Me and Lilly have similar taste in books and not only did she make The Raging Ones sound incredible in her review but she loved it so I know I will too.

The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden

The Bear and the Nightingale was a top read of mine, and based on the reviews I’ve seen I know I’ll love The Girl in the Tower just as much. The reason I haven’t picked it up yet? I’m not sure, but this will be a book I get around to sooner rather than later.

This is one of my most anticipated releases of the year (but after the way Warcross ended how could it be anything but?!) I am so excited for Wildcard’s release and I know this will be a book I start the very second it’s in my hands.

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Of all the books I featured on my list this week Muse of Nightmares is my most anticipated book, not just within this top ten or within the second half of the year but for the whole of 2018. Then again considering how much I love Laini Taylor is that much of a surprise for anyone?

Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

I’ve seen some incredible reviews for this book (and the fact that the blurb describes it as perfect for fans of Jandy Nelson is a major selling point for me) so I can’t wait to start this one. For me there’s something about Words in Deep Blue that makes it a perfect autumn read.

A beautiful love story for fans of Jandy Nelson and Nicola Yoon: two teens find their way back to each other in a bookstore full of secrets and crushes, grief and hope—and letters hidden between the pages.

Years ago, Rachel had a crush on Henry Jones. The day before she moved away, she tucked a love letter into his favourite book in his family’s bookshop. She waited. But Henry never came.

Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore

When it comes to magical realism there is no better author I’ve read than Anna-Marie McLemore, her books are as beautifully written as the covers on the outside are. Blanca & Roja is another of my most anticipated releases of 2018 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

The biggest lie of all is the story you think you already know.

The del Cisne girls have never just been sisters; they’re also rivals, Blanca as obedient and graceful as Roja is vicious and manipulative. They know that, because of a generations-old spell, their family is bound to a bevy of swans deep in the woods. The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

The hype for The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue kind of passed me by (until I read it for myself and fell in love) but the hype for this one certainly hasn’t. Based on everything I’ve heard from people who have read The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy I know I’m going to love it.

Felicity Montague is through with pretending she prefers society parties to books about bone setting—or that she’s not smarter than most people she knows, or that she cares about anything more than her dream of becoming a doctor.

A year after an accidentally whirlwind tour of Europe, which she spent evading highwaymen and pirates with her brother Monty, Felicity has returned to England with two goals in mind—avoid the marriage proposal of Callum Doyle, a lovestruck suitor from Edinburgh; and enrol in medical school. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

As Queen of Air and Darkness is being released in December I can finally get around to Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows. Granted I do have to read the second half of The Mortal Instruments series first, but I’m more excited about finally getting to start The Dark Artifices trilogy.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

In my mind there’s nothing that screams autumn as much as the Harry Potter series does. I need to re-read this series and I feel like October and November are going to be the perfect months to pick these books up again.

Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy—until he is rescued by an owl, taken to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learns to play Quidditch and does battle in a deadly duel. The reason…Harry Potter is a wizard!
