Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books You’d Mash Together.

When I first saw this topic I thought it would be an easy one. I’ve read so many amazing books there are bound to be hundreds I could mash together to create one epic story, but as I started going through my Goodreads ‘read’ list I realised it was harder than I first thought. After all when it comes to all-time favourite books and series of mine, like The Night Circus and the Shades of Magic trilogy, how can they possible get any better?!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and LifeL1K3 by Jay Kristoff

All I can see in my head is the epic heists Kaz and the dregs pulled off set in the world of LifeL1K3; a post-apocalyptic version of the USA with robots, AI’s, and Lifelikes. Imagine what insane plans Kaz could pull together with that kind of technology at his disposal.

Warcross by Marie Lu and They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

Instead and Rufus and Mateo getting their Death Cast call and meeting through the Last Friend app they meet through the Warcross game of the day of the championships. From there they find themselves in the middle of the security problems and Emi’s hunt for Zero.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a beautiful story, and Illuminae is told in such a unique and gorgeous format, so I’d want to combine the two. Tell the story of Daughter of Smoke and Bone the same way the story of Illuminae was told.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer and Lost Boy by Christina Henry

Peter Pan set in space. I feel like even based on the original tale Peter would make a good Lunar. Whether he would be on Cinder’s side or Levena’s I don’t know, but with his army of Lost Boys (all Lunar shells) he’d make a powerful ally or formidable enemy.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James and Invictus by Ryan Graudin

While Rory is travelling through space she discovers a wormhole that allows her to travel through time. All alone still she tries to navigate the new times she discovers but quickly finds she’s being pursued by up still chased by J closing the distance between them in the ship behind her.

The Fandom by Anna Day and Geekerella by Ashley Poston

I liked the concept of The Fandom but wasn’t convinced by the book itself. So I’d take the concept and mix it with the fandom and characters from Geekerella. Ella and Darien know their favourite show so well they’d have no issue stepping into the main characters roles.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby and The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

I’m not sure I have one specific story in mind for this pairing. I think just the way they’re both written would make for one epic and beautiful story. Maybe add Finn and Penny into The Raven Boy’s story, or put Blue, Gansey, Adam, Ronan and Noah into the village of Bone Gap.

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski and A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I want to see A Court of Thorns and Roses with more action. When Feyre goes with Tamlin to the Spring Court she goes as a double agent, working for her village who are planning to rebel against the fae over the wall, but her plans change when she starts falling in love with Rhys.

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner and Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

Again Passenger set in space. Instead of Etta being taken into the past and aboard the ship Nicholas is working on she’s taken into space aboard the Icarus, but the space vessel crashes before it can reach its destination and both Nicholas and Etta have to find their way back again.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi and Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Instead of Maya entering Amar’s kingdom and roaming his castle for half the book she finds herself in Caraval. Later, after being manipulated and betraying Amar, she learns that in order to save her husband and his kingdom she needs to take part in Caraval and win the wish that is its prize.
