Listicle Tag

I love books and I love making lists, so taking part in the Listicle tag is an excuse to combine two of my favourite things into one post. Also the prompt left adds a third favourite thing of mine to the mix. I was tagged by Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews. Thanks so much for the tag Meghan, I had a lot of fun with this one.

Top Five Places Books Have Made You Dream of Going

1. Prague;

After reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor I knew I had to visit Prague myself one day. The way the city had been described within the pages of the book make it seem like a place where magic could be found around every corner, and I wanted to experience that magic for myself.

2. Greece;

I’ve always loved Greek mythology, but for some reason I’ve never visited Greece. It’s on the same continent I am so I don’t have the long distance as an excuse for why I haven’t gone yet. After reading the Percy Jackson series my desire to visit Greece has grown, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to go soon.

3. Paris;

When I read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins I’d already been to Paris twice. However as I was reading the story, travelling with Étienne and Anna as they saw the sights and did all the tourist-y things you can in the city, I found myself desperate to go back again.

4. Puerto Rico;

While A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry wasn’t a glowing, five-star read for me one of the things about the book that did stand out was the setting. Puerto Rico was so richly described it was almost like I was there myself. Hopefully one day I’ll get a chance to actually be there myself.

5. India;

Before reading The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi India wasn’t a place I considered going. However while reading I was so enchanted with the world-building that it shot up my list of places I want to visit. Like with Prague India was so richly described it seemed to me a place where magic is real.

So those are my top five travel destinations that have been inspired by books. Prague and Paris are the only two cities I’ve been to so far, but hopefully the other three aren’t too far out of the realm of possibility.
