Listicle Tag

I love books and I love making lists, so taking part in the Listicle tag is an excuse to combine two of my favourite things into one post. Also the prompt left adds a third favourite thing of mine to the mix. I was tagged by Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews. Thanks so much for the tag Meghan, I had a lot of fun with this one.

Top Five Places Books Have Made You Dream of Going

Listicle Tag

  1. Prague;

After reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor I knew I had to visit Prague myself one day. The way the city had been described within the pages of the book make it seem like a place where magic could be found around every corner, and I wanted to experience that magic for myself.

  1. Greece;

I’ve always loved Greek mythology, but for some reason I’ve never visited Greece. It’s on the same continent I am so I don’t have the long distance as an excuse for why I haven’t gone yet. After reading the Percy Jackson series my desire to visit Greece has grown, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to go soon.

  1. Paris;

When I read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins I’d already been to Paris twice. However as I was reading the story, travelling with Étienne and Anna as they saw the sights and did all the tourist-y things you can in the city, I found myself desperate to go back again.

  1. Puerto Rico;

While A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry wasn’t a glowing, five-star read for me one of the things about the book that did stand out was the setting. Puerto Rico was so richly described it was almost like I was there myself. Hopefully one day I’ll get a chance to actually be there myself.

  1. India;

Before reading The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi India wasn’t a place I considered going. However while reading I was so enchanted with the world-building that it shot up my list of places I want to visit. Like with Prague India was so richly described it seemed to me a place where magic is real.

So those are my top five travel destinations that have been inspired by books. Prague and Paris are the only two cities I’ve been to so far, but hopefully the other three aren’t too far out of the realm of possibility.

For the people I’m tagging the listicle prompt is;

Top Five Book Characters You’d Replace So You Could Live their Adventures.

My tags:

Have you been to any of the cities or countries that made my list for this prompt; did you fall in love with Prague like I did, or have you made it to Greece while I haven’t? What is your number one book for inspiring wanderlust? Let me know, and if there’s anyone out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged.

    1. Thanks so much, and that’s all right. Like I said I love tags and I love lists so anything that combines the two is a good thing in my mind! 🙂
      Prague is amazing, I hope you make it one day I’m sure you’ll love it too, and again thanks! 🙂 ❤️

      1. Ah, same, that’s why I created it haha! I really hope I do, lots of European cities appeal to me, Paris most of all, although I’ve actually been there, one of the few places I’ve visited 🙂 ❤

  2. Oh what a fun tag, I love it! I’m so glad to see Prague on your list, that city is on my bucket list and I can’t wait to visit someday, it sounds like such a beautiful city ❤ ❤ And Greece, yes – I only went once when I was just a small child haha, so I really want to go back haha 🙂

    1. Thanks Marie, and oh I’d say Prague is a must. 🙂 ❤️ I think even though you weren’t a massive massive fan of Daughter of Smoke and Bone it’s still a beautiful city to explore. Going to Greece as a child is still something (more than I’ve done at least) but yeah I imagine it will be better going again now you’re older and can appreciate it more! 🙂

  3. Prague is such a cool city! I am glad that’s one that interests you 😀 But I also totally get your other choices. Whenever I think of Greece, I just think Mamma Mia now hahaha that makes me want to get on a ferry and go to some Greek island.

    1. Prague is amazing, honestly talking about it so much in this post and these comments has made me want to go back right this second! 🙂
      Oh I forgot Mamma Mia was set there. When I think of Greece the first (and only) thing that comes to mind is Greek mythology (big driver for my goal to make it there myself one day!) but hey if Mamma Mia is your driver then get on that ferry right away! 😀

      1. Everyone wanted to go off to Greece after watching Mamma Mia 2 and I was just sitting there “you do know they filmed it in Croatia, right?”. I felt like I was unintentionally crushing people’s souls hahaha
        I wish getting on a ferry was an option haha

  4. Hello Beth ❤
    Loved reading about these books and travel destinations in this post. I would love to go to any of these places! I visited France briefly before but I would love to go again to get to know the country better. Anna and the French Kiss is my TBR and I should read it soon! Daughter of Smoke and Bone makes me want to visit Prague as well 🙂 If you can only pick one place to visit (or revisit) from these 5, which would you choose?

    1. Thanks so much Sophie! I love travel so any excuse to talk about it is one I’ll gladly take! 🙂
      France is well worth another visit. I’ve been to Paris twice but still feel like I need to go again (maybe one day!) Daughter of Smoke and Bone seems to have made everyone want to visit Prague. 🙂
      Ohh, if I could only choose one it would have to be Greece. As much as I love the places I’ve already visited and want to make it to the places I wish I could visit Greece is top of my list!

  5. It’s so cool how the books we read can inspire us to visit places in the real world, even if the book is a fictional one 😊 I haven’t been to any of the places you’ve mentioned, but I have read Daughter of Smoke and Bone — and yes, Laini Taylor definitely has a way of making Prague seem like a magical place! 😄 I have a copy of The Star-Touched Queen at home, so hopefully I’ll be able to get around to reading it when I return home from my travels 📚 Great post, Beth!

    1. Oh definitely, and actually even when books are fictional I’m still inspired to visit. I just suffer slightly because I know I’ll never be able to. 🙂
      I feel like Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of those books that’s made everyone want to visit Prague. Definitely magical and Prague itself was just as magical as I’d hoped it would be when I finally made it there. Oh I hope you love The Star-Touched Queen in that case, I feel like Roshani Chokshi has the same magical way of world building Laini Taylor does!
      Thanks so much. 🙂

  6. I’ve been to Prague, Greece and Paris out of the five! There are beautiful, magical places in all three and I love their differences, going from Central to Southern to Western Europe. I hope you get to visit them sometime!

    1. Oh I’m kind of jealous you’ve made it to Greece. Was it amazing over there? I get what you mean, there’s a big difference between Prague and Paris but they’re both incredibly beautiful cities (after the way Laini Taylor wrote about Prague I expected nothing less than magic when I was there!) 😀
      Thanks so much. 🙂

      1. I only went to Crete and a couple nearby islands but when the weather’s good, it’s fabulous! The food is great and cheap as well, definitely easier on your wallet than going to say Paris.

  7. Greece and Paris sound completely dreamy *heart eyes* I wish I was there now! Anna and the French Kiss has been on my TBR for the longest time and I feel like its one of those books I just have to read. Such a great tag thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. Same here! Especially Greece because I’ve never been there and I really really need to go one day. 😀 Anna and the French Kiss is a great book for inspiring wanderlust. When you pick it up be prepared to want to book a ticket to Paris when you’ve finished reading.

  8. ahhh thank you so much for the tag!! This is actually so fabulous, plus I adore listicles of all kinds (and wow the prompt you thought of is so creative? I could never in one million years have the imagination to come up with these)

    I haven’t been to Europe at all and that needs to change soon! Traveling is always a delight for me—so far, I’ve visited Korea + random places around the US, but going to Prague or Paris is high up there on my bucket list.The world-building in DoSAB was so richly described, I swear Laini Taylor has the writing talent of an angel 💖Also, reading all those Percy Jackson books during my childhood REALLY made me want to pack up and go to Camp Half-Blood (technically it’s a fictional place, but I always dreamt of going there XD)

    1. That’s all right. 🙂 I’m the same, any excuse to write any kind of list (probably why I love taking part in the TTT meme!). Oh thanks so much, I’ll definitely be looking forwards to seeing which characters/books you pick. If you’re anything like me you have a list of hundreds! 🙂
      I hope you make it to Europe soon then, honestly there’s so much over here to see and I’m sure you’ll love it! Personally I’d love to visit Korea one day.
      Prague is incredible, Laini Taylor has a gift when it comes to world building for sure, and oh I’d settle for going to Camp Half-Blood if I can’t make it to Greece one day. 🙂

      1. Lists are the best to write when I’m too lazy to use full, coherent sentences! :’) It’s so refreshing to just leave random sentences hanging in bullet-points, HAHA

        It would be amazing if you could visit Korea!! There’s so many great things to do (and the food is INCREDIBLE imo, 99% of the reason I love to go there 😉)

      2. I just like having things organised. I will write a list for every aspect of my life if I could (I’ll admit I can be a little OCD at times).
        To be honest amazing food is normally enough of a reason to get me anywhere! 😀 ❤️
