100 Truths Tag

Is there any better way of getting to know someone than have them answer 100 questions on everything about themselves, their life, and their beliefs? I don’t think so, so that’s what you have from me today. I was tagged by Kate at Reading Through Infinity. Thanks for the tag Kate, I had a lot of fun answering the questions for this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

100 Truths Tag

1) What’s your name?

Bethany.

2) Any nicknames or aliases?

Most people call me Beth, and some people at work call me Bethan but I think this is more a case of them getting my name wrong. My sister calls me Bee and she’s the only one who does that.

3) Your gender?

Female.

4) Your star sign?

Gemini.

5) How old are you?

27.

6) Your relationship status?

Single.

7) Any children?

None, and honestly I don’t see children in my future either.

8) Any pets?

Yes, we have a few fish in the pond in our garden, and a retired greyhound named Tommy (who is, in my opinion, the most gorgeous dog in the world).

Tommy 2

9) Any tattoos or piercings?

I have three piercings in my ears and one in my belly button.

10 What do you like about yourself?

I like that I’m a fast-learner, it never takes me long to pick things up which has been a big help in my job, and I like that I’m a generally easy-going person. One thing I love, and this is something that developed thanks to blogging, is how confident I’ve become.

11) What do you dislike about yourself?

How anxious, worried and stressed I get when things go wrong. Normally it’s something small that’s happened but I build it up in my mind and convince myself that the worst case scenario is going to come true. It never turns out that bad but I can’t turn that part of my mind off.

12) Righty or lefty?

Righty.

Lasts

13) The last thing you drank:

Pepsi Max Cherry. It’s my favourite fizzy drink and I’m addicted.

14) The last thing you ate:

Cadbury Crunchie bar. If I had to choose, and who can choose, I’d say it’s my favourite chocolate bar.

15) Your last phone call:

Southend hospital. I’ve been referred to them and am now trying to book an appointment.

16) Your last text message:

To my sister talking about the exchange rate on UAE Dirham currency. It was for her birthday present.

17) Your last email:

It would have been something work related, I rarely send personal emails.

18) The last song you listened to:

Love Yourself by Justin Bieber. I’m currently watching 4Music and they’re playing a Justin Bieber/Ariana Grande Face Off.

Love Yourself by Justin Bieber

19) The last book you read:

I just finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman (at the time of writing this). I loved it but then again it’s by Neil Gaiman so there was no doubt in my mind I would love it.

Norse Mythology

20) The last time you cried:

I don’t cry often so I had to think back for this one. It was at the beginning of May while I was walking Tommy after I was verbally attacked by a stranger on the street. I had a panic attack/crying fit that pretty much lasted until I got home again.

21) The last blog you read:

It was Marie’s review for In Search of Us by Ava Dellaira, another book I will be adding to my TBR list thanks to her post.

In Search of Us

22) The last person you spoke to:

My family. Sorry, I know this isn’t a person but we’re all in the same house at the moment so it was a conversation between me, my mum, my dad and my sister.

23) The last place you visited:

Oxford, England.

Oxford (1)

24) Your last holiday abroad:

Romania, me and my friend were on a tour so we travelled to quite a few different cities.

Romania (1)

Your Beliefs and Opinions

49) Do you believe in aliens?

Yes. Given how big the universe is and how little of it we’ve explored it would be pretty arrogant to assume we’re the only life there is. I don’t even believe we’ve discovered everything on our own planet yet.

50) Do you believe in miracles?

Kind of. I don’t believe in the big miracles like how some people claim they can heal cancer with only the power of their mind but I believe in small miracles; something someone can do or say that will unknowingly turn someone else’s day around for the better.

51) Do you believe in the power of positive thinking?

Not really. This may be because I’m a pessimist though, and I’ve never really seen much evidence of positive thinking working because more often than not I struggle to think positively.

52) Do you believe in love at first sight?

No. I believe you can have a connection with someone you’ve never met before, when your eyes meet for the first time, but you can’t call that love. That comes after time when you know someone beyond what your eyes alone can tell you.

53) Can money make you happy?

I think having money certainly helps, because a lot of the things you need to be comfortable in life require money. Still there’s more needed than money, and being happy should come from inside before it comes from outside, so I guess my answer for this one is 50% yes and 50% no.

54) Would you describe yourself as a feminist?

Yes, I think equality between men and women is something we need and it’s so important. You hear about all the things happening nowadays that men never have to think of or fear, but you know that for women having that fear is part of their everyday life now, and we need to do something to change it.

55) Are you pro-life or pro-choice?

Definitely, 100% pro-choice. I don’t think the life of a foetus should mean more than the life of a full-grown woman, which in some places isn’t the case.

56) Do you have strong political beliefs?

Not really. I support Labor and I voted for them in the last general election, but I wouldn’t call my political beliefs strong. I tend to let politics and the like pass me by more often than not, which I know I shouldn’t do because it’s my future and my countries future being decided right now.

57) Do you have strong religious beliefs?

No, I don’t really believe in God but I don’t believe there isn’t a God either. Like politics I tend to let religion pass me by.

58 What do you think the most important thing you can give a child is?

Love and support. Giving them the space to grow and make their own mistakes, but also giving them somewhere/someone safe and loving to come back to when they need that.

Right Now

59) Are you eating anything right now?

Nope, just finished eating my lunch actually.

60) Are you drinking anything right now?

Orange squash. I have a headache I can’t shake so I need something more refreshing than Pepsi.

61) What are you listening to right now?

Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande feat. The Weeknd. 4Music is still on and they’re still playing a Justin Bieber/Ariana Grande Face Off.

Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande

62) What are you thinking about right now?

My headache.

63) What are you waiting for right now?

Nothing really, I don’t have any plans or anything happening for the rest of the day.

64) What are you most excited about right now?

My upcoming holiday to Dubai and Mauritius. It’s really not long to go now.

65) What’s your pet peeve right now?

Other drivers who don’t seem to realise that they don’t have the right of way, and who drive out of their intersection into a roundabout and force me to slam on the breaks to avoid a crash even though I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY.

66) What’s your favourite thing right now?

My laptop. I dunno at any given time my laptop is always going to be the answer to questions like these because it’s got my whole life on there, and my whole blog as well.

67) If you weren’t answering these questions, what would you be doing right now?

Probably reading, or mindlessly scrolling through Pinterest or Tumblr. 4Music would still be on in the background though.

Firsts

68) Your first best friend:

Her name was Sophie, and I think the main reason we were friends is because she was born a day after me and our mum’s got talking in the hospital after delivering us. Looking back she wasn’t a nice person, and pretty much tore my confidence to shreds when we were in primary school.

(Did anyone else notice the questions jumped from 68 to 74? What happened to questions 69 to 73 because I couldn’t find them?)

74) Your first job:

I worked in Primark, a cheap and fast-fashion retail chain, when I was sixteen on Saturday. I stayed there until I was twenty-one, going back to earn some extra money when I was home from university for the summer. It was hell, and pretty much put me off working in retail for life.

75) Your first childhood memory:

It was raining and I was sitting in the front of the buggy with my baby sister in the back. That’s pretty much it, I can just remember staring through the cover on the pram protecting us from the rain waiting to cross the road at the traffic lights.

Which Would You Choose

76) Love or money?

Love.

77) Twitter or Facebook?

Facebook.

78) Hook up or relationship?

Relationship.

79) Dogs or cats?

Dogs.

80) Coffee or tea?

Tea.

81) Beer or wine?

I don’t drink but if I had to choose I guess wine.

82) Sweet or savoury?

Sweet.

83) Introvert or extrovert?

Introvert.

84) Vampires or werewolves?

Werewolves.

85) Seaside or countryside?

Seaside.

86) Summer or winter?

Winter, mainly because I love Christmas and curling up with a good book when it’s cold and dark outside.

87) Books or movies?

Books.

88) Horror or comedy

Comedy.

A Few Random Questions to Finish Up On

89) Do you wish you could change your past?

I would change what I did once I finished university. I wish I’d spent the time finding a job I enjoyed doing rather than settling on something to earn some money, staying there too long, and ending up being signed off for health reasons.

90) What’s your dream job?

I’d love to work in journalism, or do something writing-related, but honestly I’m happy working where I am at the moment and that’s what means the most to me.

91) What’s your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate, it’s always going to be chocolate.

92) What are you afraid of?

Heights, and falling from a great height. I’m also slightly claustrophobic.

93) What was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?

I think either a teacher or an actor. Either way two job professions that I don’t think go well with me being an introvert.

94) If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Teleportation. I love to travel so the ability to go anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye would be incredible. Also I have a three hour commute to and from work so being able to cut that out would be amazing.

95) If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

It would be how much money I spend on travelling into work. I don’t mind the length of my journey as much, I get such a lot of reading done, but the amount of money I’m spending on travel is insane.

96) Would you want immortality?

Yes, I’d love to see how the world progresses in the future. I feel there’s still a lot of exciting things to come and I’d want to be a part of them.

97) If you could interview anyone alive or dead who would you choose?

V.E. Schwab (stealing Kate’s answer for this one). She’s such an incredible author, and she writes such amazing books I’d love to interview her.

V.E. Schwab 1

98) Would you say you are happy?

Yes.

99) What one piece of advice would you give to yourself at age eighteen?

Do something that makes you happy. You don’t have to decide your entire future right now, you have the time to make sure you’re making the right choice.

100) Where would you like to be in five years’ time?

I don’t know whether I still see myself working for the same company as I am now, but I’d like to be working in the same field because I do enjoy my job. I’d love to be living in London and to just be happy and healthy overall.

So what pets do you have, is there anyone out there who also has a retired greyhound? Do you believe in miracles, the power of positive thinking, or true love? What’s your guilty pleasure and do you prefer sweet or savoury? Let me know, and if there’s anyone out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged.

  1. Oh, Beth, I’m so sorry about that person verbally attacking you on the street! That’s absolutely horrible, but I’m so glad that you’re okay and not [physically] hurt. And aahhh, that advice about doing what makes you happy and not worrying about your entire future at the moment is such good advice, especially for me as someone who’s starting to panic a little about the future 😅 And OH MY GOD your dog is so cute!!! I wish I could have one but I’m allergic 😭

This is such a great tag! I’ll probably end up stealing it haha (and try to find those missing questions…? 😂)

    1. Thanks May, yeah it shook me up a lot but at the same time I’m thankful it wasn’t worse. I guess going forwards I know what to do if something like that happens again so I guess I can say it was a (scary) learning experience. 🙂
I think one of the things I’ve learnt over the past few years is that for me being happy is the main thing, and it’s what I make sure I focus on above everything else.
He is adorable, but oh that sucks. I love pets so much that I’d probably have one even if I was allergic, I’d just suffer in silence or something. 🙂
Yeah feel free, I’d love to see your answers and I’ll wish you luck finding the questions. I went back about five blogs tagged and couldn’t find them but maybe you’ll have better luck. 🙂 ❤

  2. I loved reading this post so much, Beth! ❤ I didn't know you used to work at Primark, wow that must have been SO hard, honestly I have so much respect for people working there,… even as a client there, it feels like hell sometimes, I can't imagine how people working there manage to handle it. I'm glad you're not working there anymore now, though – AND that you're enjoying your actual job, that's the dream! ❤
Also, I'm so looking forward to hear about your upcoming trips, SO exciting! 😀

    1. That’s all right, and yeah Primark was my first ever job, so kind of threw myself in the deep end there. 🙂 It was all right at times but like I think I must have said before I have plenty of horror stories from my time there and I wouldn’t go back again (as a worker I mean, I still shop there from time to time) 😀
It really is, and I think after some past experiences the most important thing to me is that I enjoy my job.
Thanks! I’ll be posting about them when I get home again that’s for sure. 🙂 ❤

  3. Hello Beth!
Loved reading this post and learning more about you. I am also 27 (time flies, doesn’t it!?) Adulting stresses me out sometimes, but I also love that we are older and wiser and can see things with a different perspective 🙂
Tommy looks SOOO adorable and comfortable all snuggled up on that couch! My Charles also loves to sleep all day. We always have to persuade him to get up for a walk haha. “Charles! Come on buddy! You can do it!”
I’m with you in that I don’t believe in pure miracles, but I do believe in happy coincidences. I believe in positive thinking, because when I think positively, it influences my words, body language, and actions, which I believe can have a subtle positive impact somewhere down the line. However I do think that a healthy dose of realism is very important!
I believe in true love, though I don’t believe in love at first sight.
Great post Beth ❤ These questions are very interesting. I think I'll have to give this tag a try 🙂

    1. Thanks Sophie. Yeah time really does fly by, I don’t feel 27 (soon to be 28) at all. I do feel like adulting stresses me out more than gives me perspective though. 🙂
Oh he really is cosy up there. He’s not supposed to get on the sofas though so it’s a challenge getting him off there once he’s settled. Aww, I’m sure once you get Charles out he loves his walks right?
Yes happy coincidences is a good way to describe it, they’re not big miracles but they can sometimes feel like it. Ha, yeah I think I’m largely a realist which is why my answers for some of those questions were more on the pessimistic side of things.
Thanks so much Sophie, and yes please do. I’d love to see your answers. 🙂 ❤️

      1. Haha yeah adulting is tough, isn’t it? There are so many responsibilities, like work and cooking and chores. Sometimes I feel like there is no time for fun stuff!
Awww Tommy sounds like such a sweetheart. I always wished Charles would cuddle with me on the sofa or the bed but he just doesn’t go there! We tried using treats and everything! He only lies down on his dog bed and the floor LOL.
Charles is a bit of a scaredy-cat so he actually doesn’t like walking! (Is that unusual even for a greyhound??) Our walks are usually 100m long, occasionally 500m and 1km on a super duper miraculous day 🙂
I think a small dose of realism is a good thing, though we shouldn’t underestimate ourselves. Sometimes I shy away from trying something because I don’t think I can do it, though other times I am surprised by what I’ve achieved. I think we are more capable than we give ourselves credit for 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Oh god it is, it seems like every day there’s some other kind of adult responsibility to take into account.
He really is, and oh I suppose if Charles is more comfortable in his bed can you really blame him. 🙂 I’m more comfortable in my bed than on the sofa. Oh Tommy loves walks, but he can be a scardey cat too, maybe it’s a greyhound thing?
Yeah that’s a good point, but I know the feeling because I do the same thing, maybe it’s fear of failure or the unknown taking that leap. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Haha yes I think greyhounds in general tends to be timid dogs. Charles jumps at the smallest things (like a bug!) and if he really doesn’t want to walk a certain direction, he’ll plant his feet down and stop walking.
That’s great that Tommy loves walking though. I guess it depends from hound to hound (or maybe Charles is just a special case hahaha…)

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Oh my god Tommy does that when walking as well. If you start going in a direction he doesn’t like he plants himself, looks down at the ground and no amount of cajoling will get him to carry on in that direction.
        Definitely a greyhound thing! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

  4. Wow, those were A LOT of questions!! I had a friend in grade school who owned two greyhounds. They are beautiful creatures. I think that positive thinking can change a lot, but not everything. And true love? I don’t know .. haven’t encountered it yet, but then I also don’t believe that love necessarily has to be romantic at all times. I mean, a mother’s love can be true and powerful, right? Just as an example haha but I am getting off course. Great tag and sooo much to unpack. You go for really getting through all 100 questions.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yep, and it took a long time to answer them all (longer than I though actually which was kind of a surprise). Oh greyhounds are adorable (but I admit I may be a little biased on that front).
That is a good example. I feel like when it comes to love people always think of romantic love first and the other kinds fall in the wayside. I love my whole family and all my friends and for me that’s true love. 🙂 ❤ Kind of a nice way to think about it and all.
Thanks so much Kat. 🙂 ❤

  5. I loved reading this Beth! Glad to hear you liked Norse Mythology, I’m hoping to pick that up at some point over the coming months. Also I’m super happy you stole me answer for 97 – V would be THE BEST person to interview. If we could do one together that would be amazing, but you’d probably have to ask most of the questions, as I’d by lying on the floor, crying with happiness that we’d got to meet her. 😉 I also love your dog! He’s SO CUTE. I’m so sorry that someone verbally abused you on the street, that’s horrendous. Was there any way you could report them? On a lighter note, I like how we both chose immortality – clearly we’ve got so much to get done and so many books to read that we need longer on the planet. (Perhaps we’re also both aiming for world domination too?) Great post Beth!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much Kate. Yeah Norse Mythology was a great read, I’m sure you’ll love it as well. Oh when it comes to authors V.E. Schwab is always going to be the top of my list no matter the question, but she would be such an incredible person to interview right? Ha, that’s all right, I could probably come up with enough question for her for ten people to ask! 😀
He really is, cutest dog in the world in my opinion. Definitely not the nicest experience in the world. My parents did say we could report him but I don’t remember too much about him, I just wanted to run away, and I kind of pushed it to the back of my mind. I know to avoid people like that now and I hope I never run into him again is all I can say.
Ha, world domination should definitely be on my cards. Why not right? 😀
      Thanks so much. 🙂 ❤

  6. I love reading your answers Beth! I don’t have a pet, but I’d love to, someday in the future. I don’t believe in love at the first sight, but I believe in aliens and miracles. And I’m all about savoury food, I can’t stand sweet things! Teleportation is my go-to power choice too, it’d be nice to avoid traffic, airport queue, and being late for school/job 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much. Oh I’d highly recommend getting a pet, no matter what one you end up with they’re sure to be so love-able and cuddly! 😀
Aliens and miracles seem more feasible for me than love at first sight, and savoury food is pretty amazing as well. 😀
God if only we lived in a world where teleportation existed right?! 🙂 ❤

    1. I’m not sure but it was honestly terrifying (I had my earphones in and by the time I realised what was happening I’d missed the beginning of whatever he was screaming at me).
Thanks Lashaan, hopefully I’ll never have to encounter him again around where I live. 🙂

      Liked by 1 person

  7. I enjoyed reading this, it was great getting to know you better, Beth! 🙂 I would love to be able to teleport; you know I never thought about using it to go on vacations and such, only for getting me to work and back haha!
I do’t know how you chose any of those answers in the ‘which would you chose’ section, I’m like both for all 😛
For some reason I wanted to be a teacher too… I don’t know why, I don’t ever want to deal with any of that. I used to pretend my brother was my student… he was like 2/3 years old at the time and would just eat the name tag I created for him 😛

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks Meghan, I’m really glad to hear that. I mean when I think of teleportation the main thing I think about is how much time I’d save traveling to and from work but travel is my second love after reading so that’s never far from my thoughts either.
Some of those which would you choose questions I didn’t even need to think about, and oh that’s a great story. I guess maybe you have your brother eating his name tag to thank for turning you off teaching right? 😀

      Liked by 1 person

      1. You’re welcome! I love traveling too that’s why I thought it was funny that I’d never thought about teleporting to a destination. I think part of the reason for me though is because getting in a car or plane is all part of the experience about going away.
        Wow, that’s awesome!
Haha, probably. He never listened to me anyways so I don’t think I can handle multiple 😛

        Liked by 1 person

      2. It would save on travel costs, and you wouldn’t suffer jet lag either. Win win situation but I know what you mean, I love flying because the airport experience is part of the overall travel experience.
Ha, yeah as a teacher you’d need to handle a lot of kids potentially not listening to you. 🙂
