The Cramm Awards

I have to admit, before being nominated for this award I never really thought much on my motivations for blogging. It made some of these questions harder to answer than I would have thought they would be. I was tagged by Marie at Drizzle and Hurricane Books. Thanks so much for the tag Marie, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Three Things that Motivate me to Blog

  1. The Joy of It

When it comes down to it the main reason I blog, and am still blogging now, is because I love it.

There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that I can say I hate about blogging. Sometimes the time management can be a little bit of an issue, and there are days when I don’t feel like blogging at all, but for the most part this is something I love doing. There is nothing that motivates me more than the joy I find in posting reviews, taking part in tags, and of course interacting with the community.

  1. The Community

One of the things that keeps me going, even when things are tough, is the community.

The whole reason I started blogging was because I needed people to talk to about books, none of my friends were reading as fast as I was, and I’ve found that in spades through WordPress. Since I started blogging way back when I have met so many people; I’ve received plenty of book recommendations, had unforgettable conversations, and made some incredible friends as well.

  1. Spite

It’s a powerful motivator, and definitely one of mine.

Back when I hadn’t been blogging for long, and back when I hadn’t told anyone about my blog, I was talking to my parents and my dad mentioned that, like him, I don’t have it in me to stick with things. He didn’t mean it in a cruel way, just a general observation, but the second he said that I became determined. I was going to prove him wrong and I was going to stick with this blog, and I did.

Three People who Inspire me to Blog

Since I started blogging I have met some incredible people, and there are so many bloggers out there I consider my close friends too. After all we speak every day, and about more than just books as well. However as I can only choose three these are the three bloggers who definitely inspire me to keep going, because they’re honestly amazing people and I’ve loved speaking to them through WordPress so so much;

  1. May at Forever and Everly

Forever and Everly

I always look forwards to seeing May’s posts because they’re full of enthusiasm for what she’s talking about. I definitely credit May with inspiring me to start writing again. All of her posts on writing, full of tips and updates on her own WIPs, made me miss it myself and before I knew it I was writing something for the first time in years.

  1. Marie at Drizzle and Hurricane Books

Drizzle and Hurricane Books

Marie was one of the first bloggers on WordPress I started speaking to regularly. She is an incredible blogger who has gotten me hooked on so many books, as well the whole of the YA contemporary genre, and she’s the creator of the Souvenirs from Around the World feature which I have had so much fun taking part in.

  1. Sophie at Sophie’s Corner

Sophie's Corner

Recently I did a buddy read of Days of Blood and Starlight with Sophie, and I had so much fun talking with her about one of my favourite books. I love all her posts but I especially love how she’s started talking about her hobbies outside of reading because I need some inspiration to kick start me into attempting my hobbies outside of reading as well.

One Thing I Hope will Improve the World

  1.  People Never Giving Up and Never Giving In

The UK has had a fair few terrorist attacks, in fact I suppose you could say the same about any country. For a while it seemed like I couldn’t read the news without another one being reported, but what you also see in the wake of an attack is people coming together as a community.

No matter what they do people keep pulling together, supporting each other, and going on with their lives. I think it’s almost comforting to see that we’re not giving in to these people who want to cause confusion and fear and terror.

My Challenge Question:

  1. You come across a time machine however it can only go either into the future or into the past, not both, and your first trip sets it in that mode forever. Would you choose to travel into the future or travel into the past?

My Nominations:

  1. Kat at Life and Other Disasters
  2. Kate at Reading Through Infinity
  3. Larkin at Wonderfilled Reads
  4. Lashaan and Trang at Bookidote
  5. Malanie at Malanie Loves Fiction
  6. May at Forever and Everly
  7. Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews
  8. Shai at Cade Under Books
  9. Sophie at Sophie’s Corner
  10. The Orangutan Librarian

  1. Recently there was an attack in Toronto, which was terrifying for me to read about since it was so close to where my family lives (and where I lived a short while ago.) You are right that it is inspiring to see people coming together and supporting each other as a community when these things do happen.

On a happier note, thank you so much for mentioning me in this post ❤ It was fun doing the buddy read together, and I always enjoy chatting with you in general 🙂 The challenge question sounds interesting and I look forward to answering it when I do this tag!

    1. Oh god that sounds terrifying. Whenever I hear about attacks in London I always get worried because it’s where my sister works and so many of my friends work too, but you know they don’t get us down for long at the same time. 🙂
That’s all right, yes it was and I always love seeing comments and replies from you in my notifications. I love our chats and that’s great. I can’t wait to see your answer for my question in that case. 🙂 ❤️

      1. Yes it is hard when these things happen so close to where we or our loved ones live. But human resilience is a wonderful thing 🙂
Aww thank you again ❤ This tag looks really fun so I am looking forward to doing it 🙂

  2. AAAHHH BETH!!! Thank you so much for the tag and for your sweet sweet words, it means the world to me 😭💞. I definitely think that the community keeps me blogging — it’s absolutely fantastic, so so kind, and incredibly supportive. And yes, the joy of it keeps me blogging too (obviously)! Sometimes I get super stressed out that I forgot why I blog in the first place, and then I’m able to enjoy it more. 💖

And yesss, the fact that we never give in in the face of violence, fear, etc. is truly amazing! We’re capable of changing so much (if people will listen) and I’m so happy that we have been blessed with the ability to stand up for ourselves — or at least in certain countries.

    Great post, Beth! 💓

    1. That’s all right. 🙂 ❤️ I really do love your blog and you really really have inspired me in so many ways as well. ❤️ There’s nothing quite like the book blogging community is there, but oh sometimes I get super stressed about it all too, we’re only human after all. 🙂
Here’s hoping then one day we will listen and have that change we need. Maybe one day right?
      Thanks so much! 🙂 ❤️

  3. Thank you for tagging me Beth! 🙂 I like how one of your reasons to continue blogging is spite, haha I feel like if someone said that to me, I’d be the same way. You don’t think I can do it, well let me just prove you wrong! I’m also glad you’re here because you enjoy it as well! 😀
I like your bettering the world answer. It’s amazing what can happen when we all pull together, especially in times of tragedy. The beginning of this month there was a horrible bus crash in Saskatchewan and it killed quite a few young boys who are hockey players. Being in Canada and hockey is our sport it was amazing to see everyone n the whole country come together to help out and show their support.

    1. That’s all right. 🙂 And yeah if I have an opportunity to prove someone wrong I will take it. Even if they’re not aware I’m proving them wrong I still know and it still counts. At the end of the day though the main reason I’m still here is because I love it so much.
Oh yeah, in a way it kind of re-affirms your faith in humanity because after something like that you see what people are willing to do for completely strangers who have suffered so badly. God that’s horrible about the bus crash, but great your whole country showed your support. 🙂

      1. That’s good to hear you love it. It shows in your posts that you love it! 🙂 ❤️
It really does! Yes, we as a country are just starting to recover… but then we just had that van attack so our city is still in shock.

    1. Thanks so much! 🙂 Yeah the main reason I’m still blogging is simply because of the enjoyment and the support from the community too. Ha, I tend to be very contrary when I want to be, if I have a chance to prove someone wrong I will take it! 😀
      That’s all right. 🙂 ❤️

  4. What a wonderful post, Beth, and I loved reading your little answers here ❤ I agree that the community is one of the best things about blogging, and I am so happy you stuck with this hobby for so long now, I hope you won't give it up for a while, because you're doing amazing and are loving it and it shows with every single one of your posts ❤

    1. Thanks so much Marie. 🙂 ❤️ Yeah it really is, I’m so thankful I started blogging and had a chance to become part of the community and meet all the wonderful people I have one WordPress. I’m definitely happy and definitely won’t be giving up on blogging anytime soon either, that’s for sure.
Thanks so so much Marie, that honestly means so much to me coming from you. 🙂 ❤️

  5. Hahaha! The bit about your dad and you blogging out of spite made me chuckle 😀 Also my answer to your questions is boring – I wouldn’t use the time travel machine. Sorry, I know I’m a buzzkill, but I just don’t wanna know what’s in the future and I’d be too scared I’d accidentally ruin something in the past and change the whole future.

    1. Yeah if people ever want me to do something they should just tell me I can’t do it. I’ve actually signed up for a 60 mike bike ride from London to Southend in July because someone told me I couldn’t do it. 🙂 Not boring because there are so many ways to screw up time aren’t there, I mean there are so many movies where that’s the whole plot right? 🙂

  6. Thanks so much for the nomination/tag for this one 🙂 I’ve seen it around a couple times by now but never really took a closer look. It has some really interesting and lovely components with the questions it asks. Also, you challenge question is a real thinker! Looking forward to doing this 🙂

    1. That’s all right, and if you’ve seen it around you’re ahead of me because I’ve seen it once when I was tagged and that’s about it. 🙂 But yeah I love the parts that make up this tag, and in that case I’ll look forwards to seeing your answer for the challenge question I set! 🙂
