Book Personality Challenge

Before I was tagged in the Book Personality Challenge I had no idea it existed, but I do love personality quizzes and this one looked like a lot of fun so I was very excited to get around to it. I was tagged by Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews. Thanks so much for the tag Meghan, I had a lot of fun with this one.

What is your MBTI personality type?

Advocate Personality (INFJ, -A/-T)

Myer-Briggs (1)

The Advocate personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As members of the Diplomat Role group, Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.

Myer-Briggs - My Results

What is your personality like?

Advocates tend to see helping others as their purpose in life, but while people with this personality type can be found engaging rescue efforts and doing charity work, their real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all.

While I wouldn’t say it’s my purpose in life I am always willing to help people, whether that be while at work with system issues, or at home talking through problems with my friends. My job actually involves overseeing a team, and people know they can come to me for help if they ever need it.

Myer-Briggs (2)

They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain – Advocates will act with creativity, imagination, conviction and sensitivity not to create advantage, but to create balance.

While I do see myself as a creative, imaginative, and sensitive person I really wouldn’t say I am decisive or strong-willed. It takes me ages of going back and forth to make up my mind, and people can easily change my mind as well. I’m not a pushover or anything, I just adjust my opinions as people offer their own points of view.

If you were a character in a book, what would be some of you character strengths and flaws?

Strengths:

  • Creative – Yes, this is definitely something I would say is a strength of mine.
  • Insightful – Maybe on a good day.
  • Determined and Passionate – I wouldn’t say I’m determined but I would say I’m passionate.

Book Personality Challenge - Strenghts and Weaknesses

Weaknesses:

  • Sensitive – Sometimes I can be overly sensitive so definitely a weakness of mine.
  • Extremely Private – Yes. If there is one strength/weakness that I would say defines me overall it would be this one.
  • Perfectionist – I don’t see this as a weakness so much, just of wanted to do the job to the best of my ability.
  • Can Burn Out Easily – Yes, and this is something I think I need to work on.

I found that I shared more of the Advocate weaknesses than strengths; what does that say about me?

Do any authors share your personality type?

The only author I got was Goethe, who I’ll admit I’ve never heard of before. However there were a few other notable people who have Advocate personalities including Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, and Morgan Freeman among others.

What fictional characters share your personality type?

There were plenty of fictional characters who share my personality type, all I’ve heard of and some even favourites of mine. Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, James Wilson from House M.D. Aragorn and Galadriel from Lord of the Rings, and Aramis from The Three Musketeers.

Advocate Characters

If you were a character in a book, what job would you have?

Apparently Advocates need to find meaning in their work. That, combined with an Advocates desire to help and connect with people means in a book my job would possibly be something in healthcare; a doctor, psychologist, counsellor, or maybe a teacher if I went that route.

Book Personality Challenge - Job

In my real life I think my actual job my Advocate personality quite well. I help oversee a team, and connect with people that way.

What personality type would complete your OTP?

Advocates look for depth and meaning in their relationships. So based on this my book character wouldn’t be one who jumps into a relationship in the first book of the series, instead I’d take the time to find someone who I can truly connect with.

Book Personality Challenge - Relationship

Also Advocates don’t easily forgive manipulation or lying, so at least I have the comfort of knowing my book character wouldn’t have a relationship filled with unnecessary angst. I hate that trope.

Who are some fictional characters that would complete your OTP?

I can’t really bring myself to separate these characters so one could be the other half of my OTP so I changed my answer for this question slightly.

One of my bookish OTPs who I think define the Advocate personality when it comes to relationships are Natalie and Beau from The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry. It’s a beautiful book and they have a beautiful relationship. While writing my answers for this tag and looking through my bookshelves for possible characters to answer this question Natalie and Beau just fit perfectly.

    1. Yeah it was definitely interesting reading up about my personality type, and just taking the test in general. 🙂
I feel like I should read up on the other personality types, but if there’s only one letter different between INFJs and ISFJs we can’t be too different cant we?
      Thanks so much. 🙂 ❤

  1. Oh I love reading these posts! I’m just fascinated by psychology and even though this is obviously not an exact science it’s so interesting to see what everyone gets and how well or not they fit into the results 🙂 I haven’t met you personally (unfortunately) but I could tell your answers were very honest and fit well into my idea of you (if that makes sense).
I don’t know what my personality type is but I’ve seen some bloggers with the INFJ type, which is intriguing considering it’s a “rare” type of personality. Maybe all the bookworms have it and no one else does? 😛 I’d say it’s fitting.
I’ll be curious to find out my type now, but it’ll take a while before I get to it (I think I was tagged for this before or at least something similar). Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your post, Beth! Keep being a wonderful and caring person, and just generally lovely to everyone ❤ Always love chatting with you!

    1. Yeah it was definitely interesting seeing what the site said about my personality, I do think a lot of it fit so it’s an accurate test in my opinion. 🙂 Aww, thanks so much Sophie, and yeah that does make sense and I know what you mean. While not all aspects of INFJ fit my personality I feel like most of them did.
Yeah that’s what I noticed, there’s not many INFJ people out there but it seems like we’re all blogging. Maybe that’s just another aspect to our personality.
I’m curious as well, you’ll have to let me know when you find out because I’d be interested in the answer.
Thanks so much Sophie. As always I love chatting with you too. 🙂 ❤

    1. Yeah I do think this one fits me the best (based on what I’ve read of the others that is), and I loved the graphics the website had so I just had to include them on my post.
I do wonder if mine will change over the months/years, may be something to come back to at a future date or something. 🙂

  2. This is such an awesome tag!!! I’ll have to retake the test (cos it keeps changing for me) but I really want to do this! I love how you went through this and it’s so cool that you’re like Aramis and Jon Snow!!! Loved your answers! Thanks so much for tagging me!! ❤

    1. Yeah, I don’t think I re-took the test because I’d already taken it once before for another tag, but now I’m wondering if maybe I would have gotten another personality type if I had. Oh well, based on what I’ve read I think this one fits me the best either way.
Yeah I may not have recognized the author but I definitely recognized the characters! 😀
That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to your post for this tag. 🙂 ❤

    1. Just in the comments I’ve seen two others (three now including yourself) and we’re supposed to be a rare personality type so now I’m not sure how true that is. 🙂
Ohh, I’d love to see that post, I’d be interested in what recommendations you’d come up with for INFJs. 😀

Thank you for this as well, you reminded me that The Love That Split The World is on my TBR haha, I really need to get to it someday 🙂 x

    1. Yeah I loved taking part. 😀 I did the personality test beforehand so I knew what I was going to get, but it was answering the questions for this tag that kind of led to me learning more about myself.
Oh I hope you love it Marie, it was one of the first magical realism books I read so it definitely has a special place in my heart! 🙂 ❤

  5. I haven’t seen anything like this before! It’s very cool and interesting! I’m going to go take the test and see what it says about me. Even though I wasn’t tagged, I think I will post this tag on my blog. It’s too fun not to!🙂 And your results sound a lot like me… so I’m curious what mine will say.

    1. Before I was tagged I hadn’t either (and in all honestly after I was tagged I still haven’t) but it was a lot of fun to take part in and I ended up learning a fair bit about myself as well.
Oh definitely feel free to take part in this tag, I’d love seeing your answers for this one and yeah you can see for sure if you are an INFJ as well. 😀

  6. Yay! I’m glad you did this! These kinds of tags are so fun! I loved reading your answers for this! 😀 That’s awesome that your job fits the advocate type! I don’t know how much my protagonist type fits my job as all I do is read copy all day 😛

    1. Yeah and it was fun to take part in as well, basically I ended up learning a fair bit about myself as well. I thought so too, shows I’m on the right path when it comes to my career.
I think as long as you enjoy your job that’s the main thing right? 🙂
