Emoji Book Tag

I’ve done this tag before, but given how many emojis there are I can take part as many times as there are emojis left unused. I’m not one for using many emojis, other than hearts and smile-y faces, so I picked some of the more obscure ones out there. I was tagged by Sophie at Blame Chocolate. Thanks so much for the tag Sophie, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

The Emoji Book Tag

The rules for this tag are simple; pick five emoji’s and then pick five books that fit them.

Emoji Tag - Sisters

A Book with a Great Sibling Relationship

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

For this one I tried to choose a book with two sisters, and when it comes to books with sisters there is none better than The Sky is Everywhere. Even though Lennie’s sister has died you can still see the close bond the two of them have through Lennie’s memories, poems and her grief over Bailey.

The Sky is Everywhere

“My sister will die over and over again for the rest of my life. Grief is forever. It doesn’t go away; it becomes a part of you, step for step, breath for breath. I will never stop grieving Bailey because I will never stop loving her.”

Emoji Tag - Dogs Face

A Book with a Really Cute Animal

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling

Of all the beasts we met in this book I loved the Niffler the most. He’s adorable and a little greedy which reminded me of my own dog, just replace the shiny and sparkly things the Niffler goes after with any unattended food my dog will sniff out.

fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them

TINA:
Why in the name of Deliverance Dane did you let that thing loose?
NEWT:
I didn’t mean to—he’s incorrigible, you see, anything shiny, he’s all over the place—
TINA:
You didn’t mean to?

Niffler

A Book that Made me Want to Travel

Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

Books that have travel elements in are always favourites of mine because they make me want to hop on a plan and experience it all for myself. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is the ultimate road trip book, reading it you can’t help but want to see the sights and experience the world the way Amy and Roger do.

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour

“You + Me saw this…

AMERICA

Thank you for finding America with me.”

A Book I Celebrated the Release of

Lost Boy by Christina Henry

I loved Christina Henry’s dark retelling of Alice in Wonderland, and I had no idea she was releasing a new book until a few weeks after it was actually released. The next day when I stumbled across Lost Boy in Waterstones I was so excited I pulled the most ridiculous face imaginable, and of course brought the book.

Lost Boy

“Peter smiled and made me think there was only joy. Even when there was blood he made me think it was only play, until there was so much of it even Peter couldn’t pretend any more.”

A Book to Film Adaptation I Loved as Much as the Book

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The only reason I picked this book up, after having it on my to-read list for so long, was because the film was being released. The book a moving, emotional and heartbreaking story that quickly became a favourite of mine, and luckily the film was just as moving, just as emotional, just as heartbreaking and just as much a favourite of mine.

The Book Thief

“A small but noteworthy note. I’ve seen so many young men over the years who think they’re running at other young men. They are not. They are running at me.”

My tags:

As for everyone else out there reading this post, let me know what book would fit your most used emoji? And if there’s anyone out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged.

  2. Ah thanks for doing the tag, Beth! ❤ I loved most of the animals in Fantastic Beasts as well but yeah, the Niffler had a special charm to it 🙂
I have that Matson's book in my TBR and feel like I'll probably love it, if not for the romance element then for the awesome adventure/road trip it includes! I'm also curious about Lost Boy and the other retellings… Here I go expanding my TBR XD

    1. That’s all right. 😀 It was a lot of fun. Yeah in reality Newt’s job and his suitcase is something I want in my life.
If you’re interested in books with amazing travel definitely pick it up, and I still haven’t read Lost Boy myself but based on what I have read by Christina Henry it’s another book I’d recommend. 😀 ❤

  3. This is such a fun tag! and I loved your take on it!! Sky is everywhere is great for sibling relationship. Nifflers are so cute!! (just basing this on HP, not seen the movie yet) I’m really glad the book thief movie is as good as the book- I was never sure whether to watch it or not! Great post!

    1. Thanks so much! 🙂 Yeah there are a lot of books out there with great sibling relationships but The Sky is Everywhere is one that just stayed with me for the longest time.
They’re just as cute in the movie, and honestly I don’t think anything related to The Book Thief could be anything but good. I’d definitely recommend watching it.
      Thanks again! 🙂

  4. Oh this is such a fun tag, Beth, I loved your answers 🙂 The Sky is Everywhere was fantastic, I loved this book so, so much even if it broke my heart, I’m so happy to see it on your list, even if…it’s so, so sad, the bonding between the two sisters is, well, was, undeniable here ❤
And YES, Amy & Roger's Epic Detour makes me want to drive across the United States as well, with a fun playlist and friends, too ❤
    Lovely answers! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Marie. 🙂 Yeah The Sky is Everywhere is my favourite of Jandy Nelson’s books and it has such an incredible sibling relationship. It definitely broke my heart too but the development was incredible. ❤
      It's the ultimate travel/wanderlust story isn't it? 🙂
Thanks so much Marie. 🙂 ❤

  5. I don’t know why, but Peter Pan retellings are always so interesting for me to read — I’m definitely going to check Lost Boy out! 😊

I actually fell in love with Peter Pan retellings through this book by Jodi Lynn Anderson. It’s called Tiger Lily and it’s is such a beautiful book, I really can’t recommend it enough if you want to read eloquent prose and feel heartbroken. It’s written in the POV of Tiger Lily, who’s a pretty minor character in Peter Pan, but Jodi Lynn Anderson really brings her to life and makes you think about how she was affected by Peter Pan & the Lost Boys. I would highly, highly recommend Tiger Lily for you to read if you like Peter Pan retellings! 😋

I enjoyed reading your answers to this tag! Great post! 😊

    1. I love all retellings if I’m being honest, but in recent years there seem to have been more Peter Pan retellings being released which I am loving.
I tried reading Tiger Lily a while back and couldn’t get into it, but maybe I should give it another go. I do love retellings and I do enjoy Peter Pan retellings so there’s no reason not to. Plus based on what you’ve said Jodi Lyn Anderson has written and incredible book.
I’ll add it back onto my TBR list then. 😀
      Thanks so much Zoie. 🙂

  6. I really like your choices!! I think they did so amazingly well with the adaptation of the Book Thief. It wasn’t 100% the same, but it hit all the emotional markers.
Thanks for tagging me. I think I did this at some point in the past already, but maybe I’ll try to do it again with different emojis. No promises though hahaha I am terrible with tags hahaha

    1. Thanks so much Kat! 😀 Yeah I don’t think I expected it to be 100% the same (what book to film adaptation is) but it was definitely one that stayed true to the book for the most part which I loved.
That’s all right, and yeah that’s what I did with this one as well. There are so many emojis out there I don’t think there’s a limit to how many times you can take part in this tag (and don’t worry I’m terrible with tags too!) 😀

  7. Love this tag, and I love emojis but I am the same I kind of stick to using the same ones all the time and there are so many. Thank you for tagging me, I can’t wait to do this tag. I didn’t know Christina Henry had brought out a new book either – however saying that I haven’t even read one book by her yet but I really want to as it’s been on my TBR to do so for so long. 😂 😃😆❤️

    1. Thanks so much, and actually I tend to use the same ones as well, mainly smiley faces and hearts! 😀 I tried to find some more unique ones for this tag.
That’s all right, and I suppose Christina Henry’s book probably couldn’t be called a new release at the moment (I’m ridiculously behind when it comes to book releases) but it’s her latest so you know it counts in my mind! 😀 ❤

      1. We are so alike with our emojis as they are the ones I mainly use too! 😂😁 Yes that is what I am going to do to when I do this tag. I am hoping to do it this week! Thank you again for tagging me. I know what you mean. It’s counted as a recent release for me, as I didn’t even know that she had brought a new book out! I need to read one of her books, are they good? ❤️😄 xx

        Liked by 1 person

      2. They’re the standard ones aren’t they? Why go for anything else when a simply smile-y face has everything we need. 🙂
That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to seeing what emojis you do choose then.
Yeah if it’s a recent one for us to have discovered it still counts. They’re definitely good, they’re dark fairytale retellings (well, the ones I read have been) and I love fairytale retellings! 🙂 ❤

      3. Oh yes I managed to get an ARC of that, and I was glad because it ended up being released in the UK way after the US and I would have hated that wait. I really enjoyed it; Marissa Meyer and Alice in Wonderland is a winning combination for me. ❤️
Have you read it? What did you think? 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Oh that’s good, as I know it did didn’t it? How you get ARC’s, and where do you get them from? Yes I know the Alice and Wonderland is great and so is Marissa Meyer. Yes I read it last year – and I loved it. Xx 😁😃

      5. Oh I get all of mine from Netgalley, it works out better for me because it’s easier to get them through the site than requesting them from publishers, and I mainly read books on my Kindle as well, especially while travelling to and from work. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Oh I see. How does requesting them work? What makes a blogger be able to request them? How do you request them from the publishers? That’s a good idea, as then you can read to and from work! 😄

        Liked by 1 person

      7. It’s pretty simple. You can signed up on the website and if the title is there and available to bloggers in your country you just request them. Then if you’re approved by the publisher you can download a Kindle or PDF version to read. 🙂

      8. Oh I see thank you. Can any blogger do it or fo you have to have a certain amount of followers or likes on your blog? Do you have Twitter or Instagram ?😁😁😆😆😃😃😄

        Liked by 1 person

      9. No, it’s literally any blogger. I don’t think you even need a blog as long as you post reviews somewhere you can request.
No Instagram or Twitter, I will hopefully be creating a Twitter account soon but likely not anytime too soon! 🙂 ❤️

    1. Thanks so much, so I take it there are some books in this post you’ve decided to add to your to-read list then.
And in that case I will definitely try and come up with a recommendation post. There are plenty of books I can think of I’d love to introduce more people to. 😀

    1. It was great fun, and I don’t tend to use many emojis other than hearts and smiley faces but I enjoyed finding books for some of the more unique emojis out there! 😀 Oh The Sky is Everywhere is actually my favourite book by Jandy Nelson, and yes The Book Thief is proof we can get an amazing book to film adaptation! 😀

    1. That’s all right, and oh in that case are any of these on your to-read list (if they are I really hope you enjoy them when you get around to them!)
Ha, yeah definitely, and there are new emojis being released all the time as well so it really could be an ongoing installment! 😀
