Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Could Re-Read Forever.
It was actually one of my New Year’s resolutions to get more re-reading done this year, and granted it’s only February but I’m doing pretty well at the moment. So far I’ve re-read the His Dark Materials trilogy and I really hope to pick up the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series soon as well. This week was the perfect week for me to search through some of the old books I read, and loved, and will maybe get around to picking up later this year.
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
It’s almost funny that Poison Study made my list this week when last week I had Dawn Study on my list of books I’d take off my TBR list, but this is a favourite of mine. Asides from my copies of Harry Potter, Poison Study is probably the most battered book on my shelves, that’s how often I’ve read it.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
For me this is that light-hearted and comedic fantasy book that I always re-read when I’m feeling down. I love the magic, love the humour, love the characters, and love the relationship between Simon and Baz. Whenever I’m stuck for something to read I’ll pick up my copy of Carry On.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
The Shades of Magic series is an all-time favourite of mine, so I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see it on my list this week. Now that all three books have been released this is a series I want to read from beginning to end, from page one of A Darker Shade of Magic to page 666 of A Conjuring of Light.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Again this is another all-time favourite of mine, and book I talk about a lot. I re-read The Night Circus last year and I was swept away by the magic in the world Erin Morgenstern created. Every time I pick up this book I fall into the story like it’s the very first time I’m reading it all over again.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling
Honestly, I feel like if this book wasn’t on my list this week I’d have to hand in my bookworm badge.
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
In my opinion Illuminae isn’t just about the story or the characters, it’s about the format and the way the story is told within the pages of the book. It wasn’t just the fast paced adventure Kady and Ezra had that I loved about Illuminae, but the design and how gorgeous this book was from start to finish.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Fairytale retellings are a weakness of mine, and I don’t think there’s an author out there who’s written a fairytale retelling I’ve loved as much as Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series. I’m not sure if the series has finished for good with Wires and Nerve Volume Two, but I finished Winter in 2015 so it’s beyond time for a re-read of this series.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
When I talk about this book the main thing I mention is the setting. For me Laini Taylor put Prague on the map with Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I fell in love with the city as much as I fell in love with the story and the characters. This is one of my favourite series, and again it’s beyond time for me to re-read it.
Red Rising by Pierce Brown
I recently re-read the first two books in the Red Rising Saga, in preparation for finally getting around to Morning Star and for the release of Iron Gold, and god they were incredible. I was on the edge of my seat, despite knowing how they’d end, and I feel like I’ll always feel the same no matter how many times I re-read them.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I’m not a massive fan of historical fiction but The Book Thief was just one of those stand out stories I had to pick up and that, once I did pick it up, I fell in love with.
So what do you think? Did you take part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, if so let me know what books you would never get tired of re-reading.
I absolutely love this list!! YES a million times over to Carry On! And to be honest, I’ve read all of these and would happily reread them all (I began listing them and then realised I was just repeating back your whole list lol! Which just shows how perfect it is!) ❤

Thanks so much! 🙂 Carry On is that one book I always reach for when I want something light hearted and fluffy in places. Ahh thanks, and I guess this also works to prove how amazing these books are too right? 🙂 ❤️

You’re welcome! I so agree!! Absolutely 😀 ❤

I definitely agree about Harry Potter and The Night Circus! I finally read The Night Circus in January and was blown away by the magical writing. I enjoyed Illuminae but the others I have yet to read!

Oh I’m really glad you loved it, The Night Circus is my all-time favourite standalone book ever, and I don’t think I could ever get tired of it no matter how many times I read it. 🙂
And in that case I hope you enjoy the others as well! 😀

Harry Potter is also a series i could just re read over and over and never get bored!
Also, yes to Illuminae!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR OBSIDIO! I’m so glad that it’s nearly here! I also loved Cinder, Red Rising and DOSMAB – so I could re read those as well and never get bored!
I do also have The Night Circus on my tbr (as well as my shelf 😬), so I really need to get to that!
Great list 😊❤️

Yeah it’s just such a classic isn’t it? And it always has that sense of nostalgia alongside the story which means I’ll always love it. 🙂
Obsidio is going to be EPIC, you can just tell. Oh we have such similar taste in books it seems Lauren. I’m actually re-reading the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and loving it even more I think.
Try and get around to The Night Circus soon, it’s beyond incredible and I’d love to hear what you think of it.
Thanks! 😀 ❤

YES! Especially because we grew up reading them, I think it just takes me back every time 🙂
I am so stoked for Obsidio. Like, I need it already – I don’t care what I’m currently reading XD
We definitely have similar tastes in books! I bought the DOSAB series a while back in hardcover so I could have a re read as well, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet… so many amazing new releases, I don’t know where to fit re reads Into that schedule
I definitely need to pick it up soon I have heard mixed reviews, so I am looking forward to forming my own opinion 😀

Same here, I’m hoping to re-read them soon and honestly I can’t wait to dive back into the world.
Me neither, it’s going to be one of those books I drop everything to read.
I’ve managed to fit in more re-reads this year than I thought I would and it’s only March, so overall I’m making decent progress I think. 🙂
It’s good that you’re open to forming your own opinion, hopefully it will be a good one I guess. 😀

I love that Harry Potter is on so many of these lists! I could reread those books for the rest of my life, and I plan on it haha.

Same here, it just goes to show how incredible the series is that it’s something so many people still love today. 🙂

A Darker Shade of Magic, The Book Thief and Harry Potter were all on my list this week too. I also made a New Year’s resolution to reread more, but I haven’t done that yet!

Hello Beth!! ❤
Harry Potter, Carry On and ADSOM are on my list to reread as well 🙂 Now after reading this post, I feel like I absolutely have to read Poison Study and Red Rising! I can't believe that I haven't read The Book Thief yet since it is such a classic (it is on my must-read list this year!)

Hi Sophie! 🙂 ❤
Harry Potter I want to try and re-read next month, and ADSOM is high on my re-read list now all three books have actually been released. Definitely pick up Red Rising soon, god I LOVE that series, and oh the same goes for The Book Thief. That's an all-time favourite of mine. 😀

It’ll be so fun to reread Harry Potter! I love the magical feeling whenever I read that series 🙂 A while back I splurged on the box set (which has the new covers!) however I haven’t gotten around to rereading it yet- I definitely will soon! I just finished the ADSOM series so I will wait a bit before starting that again. I am looking forward to reading Red Rising and The Book Thief! 🙂

Ohh, see part of me wants to splurge and get a new copy of the whole series because my original copies are a little worn, but I already have so many different editions that I just need to wait for all seven of the illustrated ones to be released so I have a full set.
Yeah no need to reread ADSOM just yet, and oh I’m sure you’ll love Red Rising and The Book Thief, they’re incredible Sophie! 😀

Great List! Recently I want to reread ALL the books 😀 I definitely have to reread Poison Study, because I still have not read the rest of the books, even though it has been 2 years already! I loved the book – it’s one of my favorites – so I have no idea why I haven’t picked it up again. Cinder and Carry On are also on top of my reread list!

Thanks so much, and yeah I get what you mean because I’ve been feeling the re-reading bug, and talking about these books has made me want to re-read even more! 🙂
Oh I hope you get around to the rest of the Poison Study series soon then, and yeah Cinder is near the top of my to-read list too (Carry On is a book I pick up a lot when I was something lighthearted to spend a few hours on)! 😀

I’ve been in the biggest rereading mood 😀
I really hope that I get to them too, probably to the Lunar Chronicles first 🙂 Yees Carry On is perfect to make me happy and relaxed 🙂

SO many great picks on here! I adore the Night Circus, Red Rising and the Book Thief!! I also wouldn’t mind rereading Illuminae, ADSOM or Carry On either. OR I’d watch movies and TV shows about all of those since I am not that big on rereading things haha

Thanks so much Kat! 🙂 I need to pick up The Night Circus and The Book Thief soon (talking about them in this post has made me want to re-read them all the more). Illuminae is something I’m going to re-read before the release of Obsidio, and Carry On I’ve picked up so many times as well.
Ohh, TV shows of any of these books would be amazing, or movies I’m not picky. 😀

I feel like there is more room for showcasing the story and characters in TV shows, but on the long run, that can backfire quite a bit haha

I get what you mean, but so far most of the TV adaptions I’ve seen have been better than the movie ones so that’s what I’d hope for! 😀

Poison Study is so good! I have re-read it way too many times the Lunar Chronicles as well. I think my favorite Harry Potter book was the Chamber of Secrets but the Philosopher’s Stone was good as well.
Great List!

I haven’t read The Lunar Chronicles series too many times but Poison Study I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve picked that one up.
I couldn’t even chose a favourite Harry Potter book, or I could say I have seven joint favourites! 😀

Oh man, I could (and have) read the book thief over and over and over. I also don’t tend to love historical fiction, but that one just gets me! So many of the books on your list are on mine too. I just finished the shades of magic series YESTERDAY and I already want to reread it!!

Yeah historical fiction isn’t something I normally pick up either but The Book Thief is such a beautiful, moving, and incredible book it’s kind of like the exception to all the rules! 🙂
The Shades of Magic series is amazing right?! I need to re-read the trilogy now it’s finished! 😀

Is there anyone in the world who doesn’t reread Harry Potter? 😛 I also love rereading Narnia, everything by Becky Albertalli, and The Hunger Games.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Not that I’m aware of! 🙂 But I need to re-read it soon because it’s been ages since I last picked up the series. Oh I love Becky Albertalli’s books, yes anything by her would be a brilliant re-read choice! 😀

Ahaha, HP is just such a readable series!!! I don’t support JK anymore, but rereading those books gives me so many nostalgic feelings. Same with the Percy Jackson series as well! (I’m hoping to reread The Lightning Thief this year for that nostalgia, haha.)
And omg yes Illuminae is such a great choice for a reread! I’m hoping to reread it before I read Obsidio, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to or not haha. And my #1 choice for rereading will always be the SoC duology — I reread it in December and I already want to do it again!!
Great post, Beth! 💕

I really want to read Carry On! I can’t believe I haven’t even read it! The Night Circus is so beautiful! She needs to write another book! I love this tag! Awesomeness!

Oh definitely pick up Carry On when you have a chance, it’s an incredible book (kind of obvious what I think given that I’ve included it on this list!)
God yes! I would love another book from Erin Morgenstern, but until then I’ll settle for re-reading The Night Circus over and over again.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah I have to admit some of the things I’ve heard lately about JK I feel the same way, but I’m always going to love the Harry Potter books because they’re part of my childhood. Oh I do love the Percy Jackson series too, but I didn’t read that until a year or so ago so not quite the same for me. 🙂
I am 100% planning on re-reading Illuminae and Gemina before Obsidio is released, I’ll make the time for it. Also yes I really want to try and re-read Six of Crows soon, another amazing series! 😀
Thanks so much May. 🙂

As long as you love the series that’s the main thing right? Yeah even though I’m not as much of a fan of the Study books now I still love the first three and always will. 🙂

It really is, it’s been a while since I picked that one up so a re-read is long overdue. 🙂
Poison Study is probably more YA than adult but it’s kind of one of those books that’s hard to define. It could fit in either I reckon.

The Night Circus has been on my TBR for entirely way too long! I need to get to it! Same with The Daughter of Smoke and Bone.
Of the entire Lunar Chronicles series I loved Cinder the most. There were some aspects of Winter I really liked and some of it I really hated and wanted it to be over already lol!

Oh that’s a shame about Winter, it’s been a while since I picked up The Lunar Chronicles books so I can’t remember which one I liked the best and least but I guess I’ll find out when I get to re-reading it. 🙂

I had a friend who kept BEGGING ME to read The Night Circus but we were working at Disney at the time as interns and we barely got sleep. His schedule was worse since he was friends with Mickey haha I don’t know how he found time to read! But it’s always made me curious. Then I read Caraval just to see if I liked these type of books and it was definitely interesting!
Poor Night Circus, I don’t mean to push you to the side!

I feel like the fact that your friends at Disney World found the time to read and read The Night Circus (I’m guessing here) shows even more how amazing a book it is. 😀
Oh Caraval is a great book, but The Night Circus is so so much better in my opinion. 🙂

Oh he finished it before we left for Disney but he read other books during it, I just don’t remember which. I remember I was trying to finish Catching Fire (per also his request) and I just couldnt find time/kept falling asleep when I’d try lmao! THE STRUGGLES.
But I’ve been craving an adventure somewhere else so I may pick this up soon!
