Two Year Blogiversary: Looking Back and Giveaway

Two years ago, on Tuesday November 17th, I published my first post. It was a Top Ten Tuesday topic I really wanted to take part in, which is the only reason I can remember the day without needing to look it up. I’m not that pedantic.

Six hundred and five (this being the six hundred and fifth) posts later here I am. Today marks two years of me blogging at Reading Every Night, and I can’t believe I actually managed it. I am aware of my tendency to procrastinate more often than not, and of my habit to give up way too easily, and neither of those are things that would lead to me being a dedicated blogger but I guess I proved myself wrong there.

Two Year Blogiversary

Last year I did a Q&A, and earlier this year I wrote about what I’d learnt over the one-and-a-half years I’d been blogging for, so to celebrate my two year blogiversary today I’m going to look back at the past two years.

There will also be a giveaway, but more about that at the end of this post.

Looking Back

Over the Past Two Years…

…my blog has received 62,199 views and 26,812 visitors, which are completely insane numbers for me to comprehend. How are that many people interested in what I’m posting on here?

…my most popular post was a Top Ten Tuesday topic. Since being published my Top Ten Favourite YA Book Covers; UK Edition Vs. US Edition post has had 493 views.

top-ten-tuesday-56

…my favourite post to write was a tie between The Character Dating Profile Tag, which gave me a chance to showcase a little of my writing style before taking part in NaNoWriMo, and The Book Aesthetic Tag, which allowed me to combine an old love (books) with a new love (aesthetics).

…I’ve read 245 books, and probably added hundreds more onto my to-read list.

…the longest book I’ve read was Winter by Marissa Meyer, at 823 pages

Two Year Blogiversary - Winter

…my favourite book to read was—

Sorry, I still can’t pick just one favourite book. Honestly I don’t think I could even pick the top five.

Over the Past Two Years, Thanks to Blogging, I…

…discovered that YALC, a YA book convention in London, exists. For the past two Julys I’ve spent one hectic and insane but unforgettable weekend surrounded by fellow bookworms and some of my favourite authors.

YALC 2017 (1)

…started writing again thanks to some of the amazing posts on their WIPs I saw published by May, Marie and Esther. I am actually currently taking part in NaNo for the first time in two years and now I’m writing again I don’t know why I ever stopped.

…met some of my favourite authors, both inside of and outside of my weekends at YALC, and next week I am going to be seeing Sarah J. Maas when she comes to London.

Two Year Blogiversary - Sarah J Maas

…got promoted at work. While this isn’t strictly blogging-related I would have never had the confidence to apply for a new job if it hadn’t been for the confidence I developed while posting on Reading Every Night over the past two years.

…fell in love with the magical realism genre, and rediscovered the contemporary genre.

Two Year Blogiversary - Magical Realism

…branched out and started posting discussions. I even recently launched my own feature; Reading Around the World. Both of these I was incredibly nervous about publishing but the response from the community has been amazing. Just one more reason I love you all on here.

…received my first physical ARC from a publisher for review. It was for The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon which was one of my most anticipated releases from this year so just another reason why that first ARC was a very special one for me to receive.

Two Year Blogiversary - The Song Rising

…made some incredible and amazing friends through WordPress. The community is one of the best parts of blogging, and I know I’ve said this before and it could really be considered cliché, but it’s true. Overall I’m just thankful that I started blogging because it gave me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people.

Looking Forwards

So what does the future hold for my blog? Honestly, who knows.

Next week I will be talking a little about NaNoWriMo, and I may even be convinced to share some snippets from my current WIP.

Next month I will be taking a leap and joining Twitter, because really it’s about time.

And then next year my plans aren’t set in stone, but I’ve been playing around with an idea for a new feature that’s been stuck in my brain for a good few months now and I’m even thinking about re-designing my blog one day as well.

Giveaway

There are some incredible books being released next year, so to celebrate my two year blogiversary one person will be able to win a hardcover copy of one of their most anticipated January 2018 releases and a surprise gift.

Giveaway Books

The gift is surprise both because what it is will depend on the person who wins and because there needs to be some element of surprise for the winner when it comes to this giveaway. There are no rules or restrictions and you can pick any book you like as long as it’s a January 2018 release, you just have to be OK with giving me your address if you win.

To enter is simple, because even a year on from my first giveaway I still don’t know how to do the Rafflecopter thing, just comment on this post and let me know; looking back at your own blogging journey, the experiences you’ve had since you first started posting, what advice would you give to a newbie blogger.

The giveaway will be open until I post my November recap on November 30th. I’ll be emailing the winner the following day and will announce it on my blog within the next week.

Good luck everyone.

  1. I am always looking for new blogs to follow that are about books! I never know what to read, but I always have an urge to do it! It’s so nice to get suggestions this way.

Obviously, I am new to your blog. I haven’t been blogging very long, though my blog has been around almost 3 years… I took a 2+ year break to focus on school shortly after I first started my blog. It has been incredible to get back into the swing of things and continue with writing!

My best piece of advice for a newbie blogger is to get involved in the blogging community! The connections I’ve made through the WP Community Pool, my Facebook blogging groups, and just through simply stumbling upon random blogs have been amazing! I have met people from all over the world with completely different stories. I read blogs in every niche you can think of, and I absolutely love it! Don’t come into this blogging world with the single goal of making money. Come in to learn, to write, to explore, to meet, and to be free!

Thank you for this giveaway opportunity! I will (hopefully) be doing one myself soon! As soon as I reach the mighty 500!

    1. Oh if you’re looking for book recommendations, pretty much anything I’ve read is something I’d highly recommend! 😀
I think it’s great you’ve managed to get back into blogging after a break. I know all too well how real life can get in the way of blogging and honestly I wouldn’t be able to manage this and school as well. 🙂
That’s great advice, and something I think is so important as well. I’ve always said that one of the main reasons I’ve made it to my two year blogiversary is that I’ve interacted with the community and made all those connections that are so important to grow a blog. Also I’ve made some great friends here too. 😀
That’s all right, it’s going to be a tradition on my blog now,. A giveaway for every blogiversary I reach. 🙂

      1. I will be perusing your entire blog looking for books I would likely enjoy. Right now, I’m just finishing Zoo. I’m also starting the Harry Potter series (I’ve only ever seen the movies…oops!), and I’m about midway through rereading the A Series of Unfortunate Events books! But I just got a new Kindle as an early birthday present, so I am hoping to download a lot of new books! 🙂
I can’t wait to join your journey to many future blogiversaries! 🙂

      2. Ha, go for it, and let me know if you come across any that you end up really loving. I’m always looking for more people I can talk to about the books we both love! 😀
Oh that’s incredible. I haven’t read Zoo myself but Harry Potter is one of my ultimate all-time favourite series, and A Series of Unfortunate Events was one of my childhood favourites too! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Will do! 🙂 Zoo was pretty good. I watched the TV series before reading the book, and literally the ONLY thing that was similar between the two was they both had two of the same character names. They were completely different!

I’m already LOVING Harry Potter! It is also a bit different from the movies so far (I’m only on book one still). 😀

I can’t wait to see some of the other books you write about!

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Oh I’ve seen adaptations like that. I can’t think of any TV ones but the Percy Jackson movie is pretty dissimilar to the book.
Well I hope you continue to enjoy that series. Yeah they’re pretty solid film adaptations but there are a few differences here and there. 🙂

  3. I am so late to reading this post and OMG I’m so sorry?? I’ve been checking out like 0 posts recently bc school BUT NOW I CAN JUST SCREAM.

    1. I know that I haven’t known you for thaaaaaaaat long, BUT I am so happy for you!! 2 YEARS IS A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT AND YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF YOUR BLOG. And yes that character dating profile was. the. best. thing. ever. YOU GOT THE CHARACTERS SO RIGHT!!
    2. AGAIN YOUR blog is fantastic and I absolutely adoreeee it and you out so much hard work into it you should be so happy with yourself!!! THIS IS SO FANTASTIC I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!

    3. omg I LOVE YOU A giveaway???? BUT YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE GETTING FREE BOOKS FOR ALL YOUR HAD WORK!!!

    4. looking back on my own blogging journey, the advice that I would give to a new blogger is that its not about the stats. Its abut the hard work, and the dedication. Everyone finds there own way with blogging and finds their own rhythm and flow, and its all about patience, and no matter what, they should keep blogging for them, and keep on blogging what they are passionate about — it’s okay to change things up, maybe blouson about a few things is best at first, because then you can find what you’re most passionate blogging about. For example, I first started this as a lifestyle blog, with movie reviews, general life updates and school tips, best ways to make sure you had a great morning, etc. But then I got more and more into books, and I wanted to talk about it more and more, and slowly I started following more book blogs and here I am, talking with amazing people about books and I couldn’t imagine a life without it!!

AGAIN!! Congrats on two years, thats absolutely amazing and you should be so proud of yourself!!

    1. That’s all right. 🙂 I know all too well how life sometimes gets in the way of blogging, it happens to me every now and again as well. 🙂
Thanks so so much Lu. I was so thrilled to have reached two years blogging, and again thanks so much about the Character Dating Tag, I LOVED that post so I’m so glad you did too. 😀
Thanks, you’re so sweet Lu and your comment has really put a smile on my face (as I read it on the train so the strangers around me are probably wondering what has me so happy)!
I do a giveaway every year for my blogiversary (although not sure how much of a tradition I can call it given this is only the second year).
That’s brilliant advice as well (also I loved reading about that small aspect of your blogging journey so far). I’ve seen a fair few posts recently about stats and blogging and I think I’m always going to agree when people say they shouldn’t be what makes a successful blogger. Dedication and love of it should. I have three blog before this one (they all failed long before even my year blogiversary) and the reason this one has stuck is because of my love for it. 🙂
Thanks so so much Lu! 😀 ❤️

      1. AWWWWW BETHHHHHHH now im smiling!! IM GLAD MY COMMENT MADE YOU HAPPU AWWWWWW!!!!!!

whenever a tag asks for advice to new bloggers I alllwayys talk about stats bc I feel like so many go into blogging thinking of the stats sometimes and even when they dont, I think that its super easy to get whisked away with them and not think about why you really started blogging and remember the original love you had for it.
Same with me, I’ve stuck with book blogging because I feel like this community is where I can communicate and socialise with people that understand me the most — and FANGIRLING!!!!!!

        AWW you’re welcome Bethhhhh!!! ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      2. It really really did, so again thanks so much Lu! 😀 ❤ ❤
Oh that was definitely the case for me, and actually the advise you gave on stats isn't actually advise I'd seen anywhere else before but it's advise we all need to give new bloggers because I don't think stats are as important as enjoying blogging you know.
Yes fangirling with other readers is one of the best parts of blogging in my opinion! 😀 ❤

  4. Congratulations!! Your blog is stunning.
My journey as a blogger has opened me to the possibilities of new things with the happiness of meeting others. That’s why blogging makes my day.
To a new blogger I would simply say write about what gives you joy and meaning for otherwise it is pointless.
If I won I would pick the Defiant by Lesley Livingston.

    1. Thanks so much, and oh I’m so glad you enjoy my blog as well. 😀
That’s great to hear, there’s so much to discover about blogging and so much to love about it as well. It really makes my day too.
That’s great advice, and definitely important for new bloggers I think. If you enjoy blogging you’re likely to blog for ages. 🙂

  5. So, I’m still kind of on hiatus but I saw this post in my inbox and had to comment!!!

Huge congrats on 2 years, Beth!!! That’s such an awesome feat. I’m really happy you’re a part of this community because you’re honestly one of my faves ♥

Thanks so much for the giveaway! There’s so many good books coming out next year!! I’m coming up to 2 years myself and I think one of the biggest bits of advice I can give to new bloggers is to not put too much pressure on yourself! It’s okay to take breaks or not be reading a ton of books every month. It’s super simple, but something I still need to remind myself haha.

Also can’t express how excited I am for you to be joining Twitter! I’ve missed seeing you around so much whilst I’ve been away from my blog!!!!

    1. Oh thanks so much Lauren! 😀 Yes I was so proud to reach two years, I couldn’t believe it when I saw I was getting close because it seemed like something almost unachievable for me you know?
That’s all right, and oh congrats on almost reaching your two year blogiversary as well Lauren. Yes that’s definitely great advice, and something I’m still trying to get better at myself. I get stressed way too easily and a lot of it is due to the pressure I do put on myself. 🙂
Yep, it’s about time I got on to Twitter, mainly because that way it will be easier to talk to everyone from WordPress on there! 😀 ❤

  6. Happy Blogiversary!! 🎉 ❤ Two years is such a huge achievement! Also, wow you seriously published A TON of posts over these two years. I'm beyond impressed!! 😀
My advice for a newbie blogger would definitely be to interact with other bloggers. The bookish community is simply wonderful, there are so many amazing people here and everyone is very friendly. Making friends and sharing the things you enjoy with them, while learning about their hobbies and passions is amazing! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Anna. 🙂 ❤ Yeah I am thrilled to have made it two years, and it's a lot of posts as well. I never realised until this post how many it was because (and it seems weird to say this) they just all added up you know?
Great advice Anna, and it's advice I really agree with as well. One of the main reasons I made it to two years on this blog was because I interacted with people and made friends who made blogging even more worthwhile than it was before. 🙂 ❤

  7. BETHHH OMGAD I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU ❤ HUGEEE CONGRATS 😀 You always were one og greatest bloggers out there and I'm so happy for our friendship 😉 I guess oen of the advice I would give is to never give up you know. No matter what happens. Bloggign hard but the commitment is so worth it when you have a bunch of bloggers who are just adorable and committed to share the same love !

Oh that's great advice, and I really agree with it. 🙂 Blogging does require a lot of commitment and it can be hard work at times but it's so worth it in the end, the last two years have really proved that for me. 😀

  8. HUGE CONGRATS BETH ON 2 YEARS!! ✨🎉🎊🎇 I’m really glad that you’ve stuck around for 2 whole years and have shared so many wonderful posts, especially reviews, showing us just how much you love what you read! I do hope you’ll be able to stick around for as long as possible and never grow tired of reading or blogging!!! As a fellow blogger myself, the biggest advice I’d give to newbies is to blog for themselves. They should never feel pressure to do it from anywhere or from anyone. Blogging should be everyone’s way of expressing themselves through writing! And man, those are some super sweeeeet books you’re offering us!!! TOO GENEROUS ❤ That edition of Batman by Marie Lu is to die for too!!!!!

    1. Thanks so much Lashaan. 🙂 ❤ I'm incredibly glad I've stuck around for this long as well, with hopefully a lot longer still left to go. I'm glad you've enjoyed my posts so much and honestly talking to everyone in the community has been a highlight of the two years blogging so far.
Great advice Lashaan, and yes definitely important. If you blog only what you think your audience wants you're never going to enjoy it as much as you could. Plus you can always tell when people are passionate about what they post and that's really the best thing when it comes to blogging.
That edition of Batman is the one I will be buying when it's released. It will match my edition of Wonder Woman! 😀

  9. Happy second blogiversary, this is such a great accomplishment and I hope you see many more. I hope you have a brilliant time meeting Sarah J. Maas.
Some of the things I’ve learned from blogging is to get involved in the community, make sure you create some sort of schedule and above all to have fun.

    1. Thanks so much. 🙂 And yep I’m thinking my fingers crossed there are many more achievements and years still to come. 🙂
I can’t wait to meet Maas, and great advice as well. Interacting with the community is a must in my opinion, and now I’ve started a schedule (this month after one years eleven and a half months of blogging) I’ve realised how helpful that is as well. 😀

In terms of advice, I think it’s just about having fun and enjoying yourself (also take breaks and don’t stress too much lol 😉 )
Thank you so much for hosting a giveaway- this is awesome!! Congrats again!! 😀

The Character Dating Profile tag was so much fun, and yep I can’t wait to meet Maas. She’s one of my all-time fave authors.
YALC is incredible, I’d say one of the best things I discovered through blogging for sure. Oh that’s great advice, and something I try and do as well. Having fun is the main thing that’s keeping me going even two years down the line. 🙂
That’s all right, and thanks so much! 😀 ❤

  12. Congratulations on two years of blogging! That sure is a long time to invest into a blog and I hope you stick around for many more to come! I really enjoy your posts and wouldn’t want to see you gone!

I feel like the one thing I would tell every blogger is to both make sure to develop some sort of schedule because I feel like it takes some sort of stress off your shoulders because you know when you’re posting and you can work towards that but to also be open to change! Sometimes things aren’t going to work out exactly the way you planned and it’s important to recognize that you need to change something and to be open to the idea of doing it! And to not be afraid to take a step back and take a break if you need it. Though that’s still something I am learning myself after almost a year of blogging.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much, and yeah it’s been a long time looking back but honestly it doesn’t feel like that long at the same time. There are times when I still consider myself a newbie blogger! 😀 I hope I stick around to, I’m hoping for plenty more years here.
Oh that’s great advice Swetlana, and actually advice I’ve only recently taken myself. I only just started posting to a schedule this month and it has made blogging a lot easier. Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t start sooner because it’s less stress like you said. Also yes definitely take breaks when you need to (although that’s something I’m still trying to learn myself as well. 😀 Maybe one day we’ll get there!)

  13. Congratulations on two years of blogging, Beth! This is such an incredible accomplishment and I’m so glad that you started this blogging journey, otherwise we wouldn’t have met at all and…well, let’s face it, my blogging experience would be very different without you ❤ It is so amazing that blogging has brought you so much, and gave you confidence in real life as well, I'm so happy for you about that ❤ ❤
Thank you so, so much for such an incredible giveaway! I think my advice to new bloggers would be… not to be afraid, really. I used to be scared a lot, lost, not knowing what I was doing, scared of other bloggers, of reaching out and so on. Best thing is to remember why you want to blog and do it your own way, by talking about the books you want to be talking about, reaching out to the bloggers you want to, and so on. Don't be afraid to take the leap, once you do, that's when you have the most fun 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Marie! 😀 ❤ Yeah I can't fully describe how thrilled I am to have made it to two years blogging, I didn't think I'd ever get this far which just makes it all the more worthwhile to me. 🙂 You're one of my best blogging friends Marie, and without you my blogging experience would be so different as well. 🙂 ❤ Really when it comes to blogging there is so much I am thankful for.
That's all right, and that's great advice. There are times when I still get a little scared or nervous about what I post. The first time I posted a discussion I was really nervous, and the same before I published my Character Dating Profile tag, but the feedback from the community makes it worth reaching out and showed me there was nothing to be nervous about. Great advice! 🙂 ❤

  14. Many congratulations for making it to your two year anniversary, Beth! What an amazing accomplishment and no easy task, especially for those who juggle such a busy schedule along with personal hobbies. I’m so glad to have been able to come across your blog. You’ve been my inspiration for these past few months and I feel like I’m always learning something new from you. Also, your posts are always brilliant ❤ You've done so much in the past few years and it's wonderful that blogging has given you more confidence and determination to participate in the bookish community, and has also rekindled your love for writing. I loved your Dating Profile post and thought both the format and your writing style were very clever. I'd love to read some stories published by you! And your Reading Around the World feature is so fun. Happy you share those posts with us!

And my advice to a newbie blogger would be to reach out to the blogging community, leave comments, engage in conversations, and just share your love of books with the rest of us because we will always love to hear what you have to say. Be yourself and post whatever you like. And don't be pressured to post frequently and to comment everyday. The blogging community isn't going anywhere. Also, don't feel obligated to keep up with current trends. Read and review any and every book that fits your fancy, no matter the release date, and share creative posts with us that, above all else, make YOU happy.

Hope that's some good advice. Anyways, congratulations again, my friend! Looking forward to hopefully keeping up with you for several more years! 💖😁

    1. Thanks so so much Azia. Yes I have been beyond thrilled to have reached this milestone, not just because two years blogging is something I never thought I’d be able to do but because of all the people I never would have met if I gave up a few months down the line. 🙂 Time management has been something that has improved for me since I started blogging, and even this month I’ve having a schedule has made blogging a lot easier as well. I’m still learning even two years down the line. Thanks so so much Azia. 🙂 ❤ Honestly that means so much to me to hear from you, I'm so glad you love my post and so glad you've been one of the people I've met through WordPress. I'm pretty much a different person now than I was two years ago, a better person just in and of myself and a lot of that is because of blogging. I love writing again (and I was so thrilled by the response to my Character Dating Profile tag) and I love sharing my Reading Around the World feature with you all. Hopefully you'll all enjoy the new feature I've been planning. 😀
That's great advice. Yes interacting with the community is one of the main reasons I feel that this blog succeeded where my past ones didn't. I've been so much more involved in the community this time around and it's made blogging so much more fun as well. Also 100% yes to being yourself. There's no point blogging what you think people will enjoy because eventually you won't enjoy it and it's just a fast way to burn out. I never want that to happen to me and so far so good. 🙂
Thanks again Azia, and yes I'm hoping there are loads more years to come for both of us on WordPress. 😀 ❤

      1. Blogging is wonderful in that’s it’s the perfect medium to meet like-minded people and establish new connections. Scheduling is a great help when blogging. I’ve just gotten back into creating a schedule and it’s helped me to blog more frequently recently. So yeah, always learning and evolving! It’s crazy how blogging can change a person, but it certainly does have that power. And I’m very intrigued about this new feature of yours! Can’t wait to see it 😀
You’re one of my most frequent, if not the most frequent, visitor to my blog and I’m always so grateful to receive your comments, despite my elongated absences 🙂 You’re such a great blogging buddy! I’ve gotta do better but I’ve slowly been catching up these past few days. Lets hope I can maintain my momentum haha.

      2. Exactly. That’s why I started blogging all those years ago, because I wanted more people I could talk to about books and who I could fangirl with over my favourite series! 🙂
Now I don’t know how I ever managed without my schedule. Blogging has definitely changed me, for the better I think, and hopefully it will continue to change me for the better as well.
I’m excited for everyone to see it as well! 🙂
That’s all right, I know all too well how hard it can be to maintain blogging sometimes. Real life has a habit of getting the way when you least want it too. Ha, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you Azia! 🙂 ❤️

  15. Hey Beth! Happy 2-year blogiversary it is an amazing milestone!! It’s so wonderful that you now have so much more confidence… really isn’t it so great that something we do on computers inspires that kind of change in a person?!

As for advice to newbie bloggers… mine never changes… Don’t sweat the numbers. I know we all watch them and want them to go up but really if you aren’t having fun and enjoying the process of blogging you will get burnt out and won’t be able to sustain the time you need to become more popular. Cheers! ❤

    1. Thanks so much Dani ❤ and yes I was so thrilled when I realised I'd made it two years blogging. Especially considering at times I doubted I'd make it to my one year blogiversary. 😀 Exactly, I never would have thought it that way before but there's so much more blogging offers than you would think at first.
Yes that's great advice, and something I know a lot of bloggers will agree on. Stats are never a true indication of success, for me how much I enjoy blogging is a measure of success and worth more to me than the numbers. Also you never want to burn out blogging and only by loving it can you ensure it doesn't happen. Thanks! 😀 ❤

  16. Huge congrats! That is so exciting!
I have been blogging on and off since I was in diapers (Okay not quite, but almost!) I love the community and all the people I have met because of it. I have blogged on so many platforms (anyone remember Livejournal? uhhh me neither.. ahem) but WordPress is by far my favorite. My biggest piece of advice is to just be genuine and as authentic as you can. Don’t worry about readers, or likes or statistics. If you are authentic it will come through and people will come. 🙂
Again huge congrats! here is to another two (if not twenty!) ❤

    1. Thanks so much. Yes I was so excited when I realised I was close to my two year blogiversary. 😀
Well from the sounds of it I guess you’ve been blogging more than not then. Oh the community is just incredible, and one of my favourite parts of the blogging experience too. I don’t actually remember LiveJournal (I’ve never used it so probably why) but WordPress is the best of the best in my opinion.
That’s brilliant advice, and something I try and do even two years into blogging. It’s so much more fun when you blog for yourself rather than the stats and likes.
Thanks so much, and yep fingers crossed there’ll be a lot more years to come still. 🙂 ❤

      1. It is a great achievement! I have been! I love writing, and blogging has always been a great way to get my thoughts out 🙂 It really is! Hehe live journal was started in 2002 or 2003 right around the time of Myspace and the inception of Facebook. ( I just dated myself lol) WordPress is my favorite platform the I have used thus far (and I have used a lot! lol)
Thank you sweets! That is amazing! It really is and it shows! You have created such a great space! Keep up the amazing work! ❤

  17. CONGRATS!!!! U HAVE HAD A LOT OF SUCCESS WITH YOUR BLOG I HOPE U HAVE A LOT MORE!!!!!!!😘
If i ever had to give a newbie advice i would tell them to keep it simple! Dont start creating this intricate blog and jump into all those really awesome but very confusing posts! You dont want to confuse your readers! I also feel like u should be yourself. Dont copy others. Come up with your own style! As for my journey i have learnt that the blogging community is just the sweetest and best. I have definetly learnt to appreciate them a whole lot more! Thanks so much for this amazing opportunity! And congrats once Again!!!
P.S. i would be okay with receiving any book😂😂😂😘

    1. Thanks so much Kiara. 🙂 ❤ Yep I'm sure there is a lot more still to come from me on this blog in the future. Here's counting down the days until my three year blogiversary.
Oh that's brilliant advice, and yes definitely something important for newbies because by keeping it simple you can find your own blogging voice, and when you have your own blogging voice you'll have a lot more fun with it than you would trying to post what you think will make you popular.
That's all right, and thanks so much Kiara.
Ha, there are some incredible books being released next year. Almost too much to choose between. 🙂

Ohh, well happy birthday for January as well, I’m sure part of your celebration will include loads of book buying anyway (that’s how I tend to celebrate my birthdays). 😀

  18. Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary!!
I’m a relatively new blogger myself (I’ve been active for only 3 months), but my experience has been a very good one so far! I love the people in the community, they are all so supportive and great! I learnt that I actually love voicing my opinion, that I adore writing blog posts and seeing people react to them, comment or relate to some things I’ve written. As for an advice : be yourself and just enjoy the ride, also plan your posts and try to be creative.
If I won, I’d pick The Cruel Prince, I’m really excited about it!! 💕

    1. Thanks so much. 🙂 Oh I’m sure it’ll be your two year blogiversary soon enough. Honestly it doesn’t feel like that long ago i started blogging but as of yesterday it was actually two years. 😀
Oh there are so so many incredible people in this community, and they all have really made blogging so worthwhile to me. I’ve had a lot of fun interacting with other bloggers and it’s always nice having that feedback from them on your posts and sharing your opinion as well.
Great advice, blogging is so much fun so it’s a brilliant ride to enjoy, and oh The Cruel Prince is going to be amazing isn’t it? 🙂 ❤

  19. Congratulations on two years! It look as if you’ve had a lot of fun and success!

My advice to new bloggers is to comment around and interact with the community. This is how you make friends, and, as a side benefit, it can frequently lead traffic back to your own blog, which is important when you’re starting out. No one can visit your blog if they don’t know it exists!

    1. Thanks so much Briana. Yes I am so happy with everything I’ve achieved so far blogging, and hopefully there’ll be a lot more achievements still to come. 🙂
Oh great advice. 🙂 I think interacting is the main thing when it comes to blogging. It’s a great way to make new friends and yes no one can visit your blog if you don’t put it out there. 😀

Congrats on all the amazing stats because YOU DESERVE IT. 💜 And I am sooooo happy that I (and others) inspired you to start writing again — that’s honestly so amazing to hear and I’m astonished I could inspire you?? 😂

Oh, I love this giveaway! Since I first started blogging, I’ve become so much more confident (like you), met so many amazing people (like you), have discovered an entirely different side of myself, and have grown in my love for reading! Tips for newbie bloggers: INTERACT WITH OTHERS!! Be yourself. Make your blog pretty. Post what makes you happy. And never ever give up.

    CONGRATS AGAIN, BETH!!!! 💖

    1. Thanks so so much May! 😀 I’m so thrilled I’ve made it to my two year blogiversary, honestly when I started I doubted I’d make it to one year let alone two, but I made it and it’s a really great feeling. Yes I am so glad I made it blogging long enough to meet you, you’re one of my best WordPress friends. 🙂 ❤
Yeah, it was all your posts on writing and your WIP that made me think about writing again, and eventually made me want to take part in NaNo again. 🙂
There's so so much blogging has done for us, and yes interacting with others is the main thing about blogging that helps you grow your blog. Great advice May, and thanks so much again. 🙂 ❤

  21. CONGRATS ON 2 YEARS OF BLOGGING!!!! 😀 ❤️❤️ That’s super exciting! You sure learned a lot! I love that blogging has given you the confidence to go out into your life and do things that you never thought you’d do- that’s amazing!
It’s also amazing that blogging can teach us so much, I feel like sure anyone can create a blog, but it takes guts and hardwork to keep and maintain a blog. I feel like I’ve learned that along the way… I’ve also had to learn that not everything is going to go the way that I plan it (I’m so anal in the way that I post that I have to have a post up at a certain date) I’m glad to say I’m less rigid and more carefree, thats something that took a long time for me to learn, but I’m glad I know it now!
    Happy blogiversary once more! 😀

    1. Thanks so much Meghan. 😀 ❤
It's definitely really exciting, I honestly can't believe I made it two years because like I said I am aware that I have a tendency to quit at things way too early. 🙂
I've had to learn that same lesson (I can be really anal about the way I post too) and while blogging has helped build my confidence it hasn't done much for me in terms of making me more carefree. It definitely takes hard work, but it's so worth it isn't it?
Thanks so so much Meghan. 🙂 ❤

Haha, maybe once you’ve gotten into the blogging world for years you’ll be a carefree blogger! 🙂

  22. Wow! So proud of you, Beth! I know I have been in La La Land lately with my blog and commenting, but I’m so pleased for you! You have been my inspiration for blogging and I remember when I first met you! I’m so so happy for you! Remember when we talked about what you would do for your blogoversary? 😂🙌
Umm: newbie advice for a blogger…
Oh, I know! It’s not all about the physical ARCs! If you Blog only for free books, you will be disappointed. It takes a long time and dedication – there are plenty of wonderful indie authors who would be happy to share books with you for reviews, but big pubs are picky and it doesn’t mean your blog isn’t good; there are just only so many to go around! So blog for YOU! Don’t do it for free stuff!
I am really looking forward to some of these 2018 releases!! Shadowsong is my top pick, then Unearthed and Reign of the Fallen! I’ve been also excited for Shatter, book two of Glitter! (It is finally coming out!)
I’m so happy for you and I’m still waiting for the day we do a buddy read! Thanks for the giveaway and I hope you have a great blogoversary, love!! 😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thanks so so much Stephanie, and that’s all right. I completely get how real life can get in the way of blogging because it’s something that happens to me more often than not. 🙂 Blogging has really helped with my time management skills if nothing else. 🙂
Oh I love your advice as well. I’m sure there may be people out there who are blogging for ARCs, and there are certainly people out there who will be disappointed when they don’t get review books from big publishers but it definitely doesn’t mean your blog isn’t amazing. It just means there are so many people requesting the ARCs and only a few copies they can give out. Blogging for you is always the most important thing in my mind. 🙂
There are so so so many incredible releases next year aren’t there? I’m really excited for Iron Gold and Reign of the Fallen (though I only really discovered that book recently)
Yes we definitely need to do a buddy read soon. Thanks again Stephanie and that’s all right! 😀 ❤ ❤

      1. I have Iron Gold but I haven’t read the series so I’m trading it to someone who loves it – I’ll prob do that or keep it until I do read it. I’m excited about Reign – I had it but traded that one for Heart of Iron. So I guess we will see how it goes. I’m trying to go to ALAMW bc like ALA it’s super good and there’s tons of books coming out that are amazing!
Buddy read all the way!! I just wish you had a way to message!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Oh Iron Gold is one I literally can’t wait for. 🙂 Well hopefully Reign will be good but Heart of Iron will be better so you won’t regret trading it. 🙂
In that case I hope you make it to ALAMW, and I will be joining Twitter before the end of this year so that’ll be a way we can message right! 🙂 ❤️

  23. will congrats on 2 years! your progress through these years is really amazing 3<

looking back through my journey i had so many high expectations that sometimes i felt insecure about the content that i post and kept comparing myself to others and still i try not to do that! and just enjoying what i do and be myself when writing new post. one of the great experiences i had was writing a post that just reflects my ideas and having fun writing it then people commenting on how they enjoyed reading it!
i think my advice to a newbie (and myself) is to just have fun and be yourself write your own true thoughts and feelings!

    1. Thanks so much. 🙂 Yeah it was a lot of fun looking back at everything I’d done and achieved since I’d started blogging. It’s been a long time since I started two years ago. 😀
That’s great advice, and yes it’s so important to have fun with blogging. I sometimes feel insecure about the content I post, but I’ve found there have always been people out there who love reading what I post which helps knowing there are always going to be people who agree with my discussions and thoughts on certain books which helps a lot I guess. 🙂

  24. Congrats on 2 years!!!!

My own blogging journey has been a really fun experience so far. I’ve found so many great books, and I meet some amazing bloggers.
My newbie advice would be to have a schedule, or at least a tentative one. When you first start your blog it can be easy to burn out quickly if you don’t know what you want to post. So, find a schedule that works for you and follow it as best you can.
If I won, I’d pick either Reign of the Fallen or The Cruel Prince, because those are two of my most anticipated books for next year!

    1. Thanks so much. 🙂 I’m really glad you’ve enjoyed blogging so far. It’s been an incredible experience hasn’t it and the community is such a wonderful place full of amazing people.
Oh that’s really great advice, and to be honest something I wish I’d done starting out myself. I have a schedule now and it’s made things so much easier for me.
Those are going to be great books, Reign of the Fallen is one I’ve only recently discovered but it sounds amazing! 😀

  25. First congratulations!
Second: I need to convince my husband to go to London in July 😉
Third: what I would say to a newbie? Make mistakes and learn from them. Listen to your heart and do what gives you joy not what you think would be popular. Be true to yourself, genuine. Chat with other bloggers as you said this community is incredible.
And if I’m drawn I would let you choose the book as I love surprises. All the books above seem great and others would be good too as far as it’s YA conetmporary or fantasy I would be happy 😉

Oh I hope you manage to convince your husband, I may be slightly biased but London is an incredible city, there is so much to see and do and I'm sure you'll love it here.
That's great advice, and also something that could apply to all bloggers, no matter how long they've been blogging. Honestly posting what I love and what give me joy is something I try and do even two years in. 🙂
Ha, in that case I'll have to make sure I choose you an incredible book if you do win. 🙂
      Thanks again! 😀
