So I haven’t been tagged in The Book Aesthetic Tag, not officially anyways, and I don’t normally post two tags on two consecutive days, but I’m jumping on the aesthetics bandwagon and The Book Aesthetic Tag goes so well with The Blogger Aesthetic Tag I posted yesterday that I just couldn’t resist.
I saw this tag first on Kat’s blog, Life and Other Disasters, and technically she tagged everyone so I thought that could include me as well. Even though I still have a queue of tags I’m trying to get through.
Rules:
- Thank whoever nominated you (maybe you’re bitter that you have another tag to do on top of the billions you already need to do (#relatable), still though. Someone thought of you. Be thankful. At least pretend to be.)
- Credit the creator of this tag; Michelle at The Writing Hufflepuff.
- There’s no limit of how many aesthetics you can make for a question, but think of your poor readers.
- Make your own aesthetics, please don’t steal them from someone else. Also what’s the fun in that?
Favourite Book of the Year
I am willing to say, with 100% certainly, that no one is surprised to see this book as my answer for this question.
A Conjuring of Light was not only my favourite read of 2017 so far but my most anticipated release of the year and part of my all-time favourite series. After the cliff-hanger ending to A Gathering of Shadows I needed this book in my hands, and when I finally got it not only was it worth the wait, not only did it live up to my high expectations, but it was also a perfect ending to the trilogy.
While A Conjuring of Light was my favourite new release of the year there was another book I re-read, that I’ve read plenty of times before, that is still an all-time favourite of mine.
The Night Circus is just one of those stand out books for me that is simply unforgettable. I’ve read it so many times but each time I pick it up I’m transported to the world and the circus full of magic and wonder and danger, and it feels like the first time I’m reading it all over again.
A Character you Relate to a Lot
For this tag I’m trying to pick books that I read this year, but when I saw this prompt there was only one character that came to mind. Technically I’ve read a book that features her this year so my answer still counts.
Cress has always been a character I could very easily see myself in. She spends most of her days on the satellite daydreaming of adventure and acceptance and love. All she wants is to be free, and she sees such wonder in all the new things she discovered on Earth that for some people would just be seen as everyday or even an annoyance.
A Character you Look Up to
There are more characters that I identify with than characters I look up to. When I was younger it was the characters in books I could identify with, like Hermione, so I did something slightly different for this question.
Annabeth Chase from The Heroes of Olympus series is one of my favourite characters from the Percy Jackson series. I only discovered the Percy Jackson books last year, and only read the Heroes of Olympus series this year, but if I’d started these books around the same time I was reading Harry Potter, I know she would have been a character I’d have looked up to. More than I do now I mean.
An Underrated Gem
This is the second book in a duology and it was recently released, which may explain why it feels underrated, but it’s a duology I really enjoyed so I’d love more people to discover it.
The Ship Beyond Time is the second and last book in The Girl From Everywhere series, a time travel duology with one of most unique concepts I’ve read. The Ship Beyond Times travels to a city that only exists in myths, and although the ending wasn’t quite what I’d hoped it was still an incredible book I enjoyed every page of.
A Character that Deserves More Love
I’m not sure how to take this question; whether it’s a character who deserves more love from the fandom, or a character who deserves more love in the book because they’re walking a hard path. So I chose a character who could fit both options.
Luke Hadley from the Dark Gifts series entered into his slavedays with his family but he was quickly separated from them and taken to Millmoor, a back-breaking and spirit-destroying place. He’s a character that’s changed so much since the beginning of Gilded Cage; he’s been forced to grow up beyond his years and there are probably many more hardships for him to overcome in the third book.
An Underrated OTP
When it comes to OTPs I don’t really have many, and the ones I do have are the popular ones – Kaz and Inej, Cinder and Kai, Simon and Baz – so this question was definitely a struggle to answer.
Iko and Kinney from Wires and Nerve are a relatively new pairing in the Lunar Chronicles series. It was hinted at very slightly in Winter and after Wires and Nerve I think that’s where the characters are going, but even if it’s not I love them together so much. Iko has always been one of my favourite characters so it’s great seeing her have her time in the spotlight.
I won’t be tagging anyone in The Book Aesthetic Tag, as I wasn’t tagged myself and it doesn’t seem right, but if there’s anyone else out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged. Just send me a link to your post in the comments so I can see what your answers are.
! Thanks so much, I really wanted to do an aesthetic for The Night Circus because it’s one of my all-time favourite books.

Ha, I’m the same. It’s one of my all-time favourite books so when I saw this tag I knew I had to create an aesthetic for The Night Circus! 😀

These are GORGEOUS damn 😍 I especially love the one for The Night Circus – I haven’t read that yet but the aesthetic looks so magical. I haven’t read Wire and Nerves yet, and tbh I had kind of forgotten about it – oops. I still really want to read it though!

Your aesthetics are top-notch, Beth! They’re all so beautiful! ❤ The boards for A Conjuring of Light and The Night Circus are phenomenal. The books are, too! I'm glad you picked them as your favorites, although I can't say that I'm surprised LOL. Lovely post, as usual, Beth! 😀

Thanks so much Azia. 🙂 ❤️ I just had to include both A Conjuring of Light and The Night Circus for this tag, I’ve always wanted to create something like this for them. No I don’t think anyone would have been surprised to see these books as my answer for that question. What can I say I find a favourite and I stick with it! 🙂
Thanks again Azia! 🙂 ❤️

Thanks so much Michelle. 🙂 Yeah I just had to create an aesthetic for The Night Circus for this tag, it was the one I spent the longest on simply because I wanted it to be perfect. 🙂
Oh Cress is a brilliant book too. If you pick it up I really hope you enjoy it. 🙂 ❤️

You were abso-freaking-lutely included in me tagging everyone, because what you did with those aesthetics is beyond gorgeous!!! I love so many of them and I think I discovered some more books I want to check out after seeing what you chose for them visually 😀 LOVE IT! ❤

Thanks so much Kat. I’m really glad you love these aesthetics. I’ve recently discovered the joy of aesthetics so I now want more tags to include aesthetics so I can create more. 😀
Oh if you do end up picking up any of these books I really hope you enjoy them. I definitely think the images match the books, it’s what I was going for anyways.
Thanks so much. 🙂 ❤

If you love aesthetics, maybe you should do the Book Blogger Aesthetic? It’s a tag where you do one for yourself?

Oh I have already done that one. I posted it the day before this one and it’s what led me to the joy of aesthetics.
At the moment I’m creating ones for my WIP that I’m going to be attempting during NaNo this November. 🙂

OMG, I am SO sorry! That’s embarrassing …
And YAAS for WIP stuff. I always love that. I am constantly trying to expand on my aesthetics for my WIP but I am so, so, so bad at it.

Don’t worry about it, definitely nothing to be embarrassed about. 🙂
I’m struggling because I want everything to be 110% perfect. I’ve saved so many images but I keep changing my mind about what I want to include.
I feel like I’m going to spend more time on the aesthetic than I am the writing part. 😀

Don’t be so sure just yet. I started my book last year in summer and am nowhere near done now and I love it with all my heart. Sometimes the writing takes forever too

I’m excited to get started. I’m very much in the planning stage at the moment but I’m hoping to get a lot written during NaNo, even if it’s writing that needs series editing it’s still writing.
I think as long as you love what you’re writing that’s the important part right? 🙂

I do still love Arcadia, it’s my baby 😀
And I wish you best of luck! My first NaNo worked so well for me, but now I can’t really do it. It’s weird hahaha

And thanks so much Kat, I feel I’m going to need all be luck I can get. Maybe one day you’ll be able to do NaNo again, maybe when you’ve finished Arcadia. 🙂

Hope so too 😀 but Arcadia is a priority for now. Even if I’ve barely had time to write lately, it is my passion project and hearing feedback on wattpad keeps me going no matter what.

I guess it’s better to put all your focus into one story than try and start another. That’s what I’m gonna do when I finally start writing in November.
At the moment that’s how I feel about blogging; it’s my passion project and seeing the comments is what keeps me going. 🙂

I don’t want to get distracted too much, I don’t think I could handle two different stories at the moment hahaha
And I am glad you love blogging!

Thanks so much Meghan. 🙂 I spent a lot of time on these aesthetics, and I changed the images a fair few times (I found at least 30 images for each question and only used eight, so I had a lot to sort through). All worth it in the end, I’m so happy with how these turned out.
Thanks Meghan! 😀 ❤

Thanks so much Chloe. 🙂 I used Pic Monkey to create these, they have collage templates which were a massive help for me. I tried creating some aesthetics without the templates and they ended up looking weird so I get what you mean. 🙂

You are so good at aesthetics wow! I love the one for Cress and Annabeth and even though I haven’t read the rest of the books they all just look so good that I’m sure they’re correct ahah.

Thanks so much Sydney. 🙂 Cress and Annabeth were the easiest two aesthetics to actually create, and I’m really happy with how they turned out. Ha, yeah I’m hoping the rest are accurate, I think they are at the very least. 😀
