The Narnia Book Tag

I loved The Narnia Chronicles when I was younger, after the Harry Potter books it was the second series I fell in love with as a child and the second series that got me hooked on reading, so a Narnia tag is just perfect beyond words for me. Le Cirque des Rêves
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I fell in love with The Night Circus and the world it was set in within the first few pages. It seemed to be a place where magic was real, and I wish more than anything that Le Cirque des Rêves would travel to my town so I could experience it for myself.

The Magician’s Nephew:
A book you think is underrated.

A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry

It seems like the majority of magical realism books are underrated, but A Fierce and Subtle Poison is one I haven’t seen anyone talk about. It’s a beautiful story, with wonderful characters set in a stunning country. I think this is a book a lot of people would enjoy if they gave it a chance.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe:
A classic that you love.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

When it comes to Classics I can’t really say I’m a fan of any. The only exception is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I read this for the first time when I was a child, and alongside Harry Potter it’s one of the defining books of my childhood.

The Horse and His Boy:
A book you picked up without knowing what it was about.

Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray

I don’t actually remember reading the blurb before requesting this book on NetGalley. I simply saw the gorgeous cover, saw the name of the author, and saw the fact that it was set in space and requested a copy. I ended up loving this book, so I’m really glad I gave it a try.

Prince Caspian:
A sequel that you loved.

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi

The first book was amazing, one of my favourite reads of 2016, so when I saw there was a companion novel I was both excited and nervous. Turns out I didn’t need to be nervous because, if anything, I ended up enjoying A Crown of Wishes even more than The Star-Touched Queen.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader:
A quest you’d like to be a part of.

Any of the ones Percy Jackson went on. I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology so I’d love to experience some of the things Percy did as he, Annabeth and Grover took on Luke and Kronos. Although maybe not The Last Battle, I likely would not have survived that one.

The Silver Chair:
A book you didn’t expect to love(…As much as you did)

I added the second part of this question on myself because I couldn’t think of any book I picked up that I didn’t expect to love.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I went in expecting to love this book, however I was unprepared for how much I actually did love The Hate U Give. It’s a powerful, moving and emotional book, a beautiful story with beautiful characters, and honestly I can’t fully describe how amazing it was finally reading it myself.

The Last Battle:
A perfect ending to a series you love.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

The wait for this book was a year, and after the cliff-hanger ending to A Gathering of Shadows it was an almost unbearable wait, but it was all worth it when I finally had my hands on A Conjuring of Light. This book was perfect, but then again I expected nothing less from V.E. Schwab.

A siblinghood or friendship you’d love to be a part of.

Blue and the Raven Boys
The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater

The friendship Blue, Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah have has become the yardstick I use to measure all friendships I see in YA novels, simply because it is the best I’ve read. Nothing’s come close yet but then again it’s going to be hard to beat the relationships Maggie Stiefvater wrote.

Eustace Scrubb:
A character who grew on you.

Lia
The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson

In the first book I wasn’t a fan of Lia’s character at all. Granted she had her good points but they were outweighed by the bad; her recklessness and lack of self-preservation. However as the series continued she was given more development and ended up becoming one of my favourite characters.

Mr Tumnus:
Your favourite mystical creature.

Dragons.

In my opinion every book could use some dragons in it. They were a brilliant addition to the Harry Potter series when they were introduced in Goblet of Fire, and I love Daenerys’ dragons from the Song of Ice and Fire series. My favourite remains Abraxos from Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series.

A character with regal qualities.

Feyre
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas

Feyre’s development throughout the series has been brilliant to read, she has gone from an impoverished hunter to the High Lady of the Night Court. Everything she has been through has only made her a stronger character, more confident in herself and her abilities.

The Wardrobe:
Your favourite hideout/place to read.

When I was a child it was actually my wardrobe; it was built into the wall so there was more than enough space for me to sit in there with my book and read. Now I’m older I normally lie in my bed, surrounded by my duvet and loads of pillows, to read.
