The Entertainer Blogger Award

I hadn’t been nominated for this award before, so it was great to have an opportunity to take part and answer the questions that come along with it. I was tagged by Ronyell at Rabbit Ears Productions Blog, Joana at Book Needers, and Azia at The Uncharted Word. Thanks so much for the tag everyone, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

  • Display the award picture in your post.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all entertaining!

Why did you start a blog in the first place?

Before Reading Every Night I had three other blogs which all eventually fizzled out, and honestly for a while I was sure this one would go the same way, so I knew I wanted to start a blog again because I loved everything about having one. Also because I read really fast and my friends either couldn’t keep up or don’t enjoy the same books as I do I didn’t have anyone to talk to about what I’d just read.

That was really the main reason, needing someone to talk to and fangirl over all my favourite series.

What is your favourite book?

Oh I couldn’t choose just one. Instead I’m going to choose my top three which, if you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’re probably well aware of.

The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon

The Bone Season2

Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab

shades-of-magic-uk-series

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus

All of these  are beyond amazing books. If you check out my reviews you’ll find them full of praise and full of me essentially mindlessly gushing over the stories, the characters, the world-building, etc. These are books I recommend over and over again, to pretty much everyone, so if there’s a story/series you haven’t picked up then do so as soon as you can.

What do you dislike the most?

When it comes to bookish pet peeves nothing annoys me more than when the cover design is changed in the middle of a series. It always ruins the look of the series on my bookshelves, and more often than not I need to spend even more on books to have a matching collection.

Outside of the bookish world it’s when people walk really slowly in front of me, and then stop in the middle of the path so I have to dodge around them so I don’t walk into them. I work in London and there are always people who do just that, and I’m always the one stuck behind them.

What is your favourite food item from the mall?

We don’t really have malls in England. The closest I have is Lakeside shopping centre which I guess is the UK equivalent of a mall, and the closest I’m ever going to get. Whenever I go there I always get some form of fast food, KFC or Pizza Hut, unhealthy yeah but kind of a guilty pleasure.

What is your favourite pastime?

Asides from reading, which is an obvious choice given the subject of my blog, I really enjoy baking. I haven’t baked anything in ages, blogging has a habit of taking up all my spare time, so it’s a pastime I really need to get back into but I always loved spending an afternoon cooking up some treats.

  1. Loved your answers! I hate when people stop in the middle of the away too! It makes me really exasperated >. But I’m glad you loved them so much! I definitely have to get to it!
I love cooking! I’m not as good backing but I love trying it. Btw your treats look amazing!!! 😍

    1. stupid WordPress… It cut a bit (again) … I have yet to read the Bone Season! I read the first chapters and I really liked the idea but I haven’t bought the book just yet because it’s pretty massive and I already have way too many to read :> But I’m…

      1. Oh I’ve had WP do that to my comments as well. 🙂
The Bone Season is incredible, but yeah I can see how it may be a little intimidating. It’s a heavy book at times what with the world building. Still I hope you manage to get to it one day soon, and I hope you really enjoy it as well. 😀 ❤️

    2. Thanks so much, and yeah you’d think it would be easier to move to one side, then they wouldn’t get people accidentally knock into them either. God it just really bugs me.
It’s a lot of fun isn’t it, baking, and there are so many recipes to try out as well. Thanks again Joana. 🙂 ❤️

  2. LOL, thanks for the tag back, my friend! ❤ I LOVE to bake as well, but your treats look sooooo much better than mine haha. So pretty! And they look delicious, too 😉 Which is your favorite recipe?? And glad to see all the usual picks on the favorite book question haha. I also dislike cover changes in the middle of a series as well. How do you feel about the cover change for the third book in the Ember in the Ashes series? I understand her reasons and I'll still buy the book, but now I gotta re-buy the first two so the covers match LOL. I was already going to rebuy the first book, so they'd all be hardcovers but now I'll just start from scratch. I'll have so many copies XD That series will be so eclectic-looking on my shelves haha

    1. Oops, forgot you tagged me in this. This is what happens when you have too many tags in your queue! 🙂
After blogging I think baking is my favourite hobby. I haven’t had much time for it but I really want to get back into it one day. Hopefully one day soon. My favourite recipe is Gingerbread Men, what’s yours?
I don’t normally variate when it comes to favourite books.
Yeah I’m never a massive fan of cover changes, but I love the new Ember cover designs and to be honest my first two have different covers so it’s kind of fitting to have the third be another different cover. 😀
We all have eclectic looking series on out shelves at one point or another. Guess it’s just part of being a bookworm right? 😀 ❤️

      1. Lol, haha. That’s all right! At least I can tag more people who deserve it 😀
I wish I had more time for baking. It’s so cathartic; it was my saving grace when I was in college. I LOVE gingerbread cookies. And mine is my lemon blueberry muffins with cinnamon crumble topping!
And that’s certainly right. Cover changes can be frustrating, but as long as the new cover design is cool, I’m mostly okay with it 🙂 My shelves can always use a bit more personality. I can’t wait to get the new book! ❤

      2. Why not? Spread the love and the tags! 😀
I wish I had more time, I feel like after this coming weekend I will have a bit more time so I’m planning to start baking again. Oh that sounds amazing, I may have to see if I find a recipe for those! 😀
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad cover change, unless we count the books that are released with the film cover. I’m never really going to be a fan of those I have to admit. 🙂

  3. Ahhhh the Shades of Magic series is AMAZING, and so is The Night Circus. Not surprised to see those on there! 😉 Oh, and The Bone Season! I hear you talk about it all the time, I can’t WAIT to read it. ❤ And I'm so jealous of your baking ability!! I am a mess when it comes to baking haha, teach me your ways. Lovely post, as always!

    1. It really is, and honestly I don’t think anyone was surprised by those answers. I talk about them a lot because they’re my favourite series. It’s the same with The Bone Season series, you definitely need to read that Analee.
Some of the things I bake can turn into a big mess, I just don’t post photos of those ones. 😀
      Thanks Analee! 🙂 ❤

  4. I hate it when the covers for books change in the middle of the series, that’s definitely my number one pet peeve when it comes to books. I hate it when people walk to slow as well and then for some reason stop in the middle of the road. That has happened to me too often and then dodging them is annoying as well…Sigh, I sometimes feel that some people never learned how to walk properly.
Okay, you just made me really hungry!! All those sweets look amazing! 😍
Thank you for tagging me!! ❤ I really enjoyed reading your answers!

    1. Urgh, same here. I don’t understand why publishers can’t continue printing the old covers when they change halfway through a series. It seems to happen to me all the time, but that may be to do with the fact that I walk really fast as is. So there’s almost always going to be someone slower blocking the pavement.
Thanks Anna, I love baking and really want to get back into that hobby soon.
That’s all right, I can’t wait to see your answers for this tag. 🙂 ❤

  5. OH YES. When people are walking soooo slowly in front of you, this drives me crazy as well. I know I tend to do that whenever I am on tourist mode, but I always try not to, or at least to walk on one side of the sidewalk as not to bother people too much.
I wish I could bake, I love eating ahah but I’m not much of a baker. Blogging takes up sooo much time ahah 🙂
Great answers for this tag, Beth! ❤ ❤

    1. Yeah I tend to do it when I’m in tourist mode too, but when I do stop in the middle of the street I try and stand to one side, rather than stopping right in the middle of the street like I see so many people in London do, leaving me to dodge around them.
Blogging takes up a lot of my time as well, but hopefully I’ll be able to bake a little in between, at least that’s my plan for the near future.
Thanks so much Marie! 😀 ❤

  6. Your answers to the favorite book doesn’t surprise me at all :p It’s so easy to get fast food at the mall. I usually go to the nearest McDonalds xD
BAKING!!! ❤ It's a fabulous other hobby and I love that it enables me to take breaks from the Internet and reading, gives my eyes a rest, and keeps my stomach happy!
Thanks so much for the nomination, love ❤

    1. Ha, yeah there’s just no more mystery when it comes to my favourite books. I’ve talked about them so much but again they’re favourites so that shouldn’t be a surprise really. 🙂
There is definitely a lot to love about baking, the yummy food you have at the end is a serious bonus in my mind!
That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your answers for this tag Meggy! 😀 ❤

  7. Right now I am craving cupcakes! Thank you 😀 (they look absolutely delicious btw!)

And people who stop in the middle of the road, arrrrggghhh! If I can be considerable and think about others around me, why can’t they?! I honestly don’t understand.. 😀
Thank you for the tag ❤

    1. I’m craving cupcakes too, or pretty much anything sweet. I’m also feeling the need to start baking again so this post helped with the “baking slump” I seemed to find myself in. 🙂
There is nothing more annoying, it happens a lot in London and I have very nearly crashed into people who have stopped for no reason right in front of me. Never fails to bug me. :/
That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your answers for this one Alex! 😀 ❤

  8. eeeeeK! thank you for tagging me Beth! now that I’m beginning to squeeze in some back-list books, I’ll def be reading The Bone Season. Confession: I’m not great at baking but I sure do love it lol!

    1. That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your answers for this one Lilly! 😀 The Bone Season is a series I’d highly recommend (obviously as it’s a favourite of mine) so I hope you do find some time for it.
As long as the things you bake taste nice that’s the most important part right? 🙂 ❤

    1. Oh my god yes, definitely definitely read The Bone Season. Like I said it’s pretty much my favourite series ever and I will recommend it to pretty much everyone! 😀
They’re making me hungry too, and also making me want to start baking something right this second.
Thanks so much Esther! 😀 ❤

  9. NOOOOOO BEEEEETH WHY WOULD YOU PUT PICTURES OF SWEETS ON YOUR BLOG UGH I CAN’T TAKE ITTTTTT 😭😂 I hope you get back to baking soon because you seem to be WONDERFUL at it! Everything looks so good, gah. 😍

Omg I’m a naturally fast walker and when people are walking slow in front of me and suddenly stop I’m just like NO MOVE WHAT ARE YOU DOING. Especially when I’m in a rush to go somewhere! And haha, I guessed those books would be your top three! I really have to read The Bone Season and The Night Circus, haha!

Great post! Oh, and thank you for nominating me! 💕

    1. I’m sorry! They’re making me hungry if I’m being honest, and they’re also making me want to get back into baking like right this very second. So I am definitely going to be doing that soon! 😀
Yeah I’m pretty much always in a rush, and I work in London so I’ve gotten used to moving at a very fast pace. Kind of annoying when I’m back home and everyone moves at a more leisurely speed. :/
Ha, yeah there’s never really much mystery there when someone asks about my favourite series. At least I’m consistent though. 🙂
Thanks May, and that’s all right! 😀 ❤

    1. It really is, and the best part is eating what you made at the end! 😀 Oh I get what you mean, I can make cookies and cakes and cupcakes really well but I’ve never managed to get the hang of brownies. I just kill them somehow.
      Thanks Dani! 😀 ❤

    1. Oh yes I love baking. I haven’t had a chance to recently because blogging seems to have taken over my whole life but I want to get back into it.
I really wanna try making macarons as well! I think they’re very hard so I’ll wish you luck. The French chocolate sounds like it’ll be yummy either way! 😀

      1. Yea…this was on a “things to do in NYC” list. It wasn’t a cheap class but we made 2 dozen macarons each and were taught by a French pastry chef. Accent and everything. His name was Demitri.
