Rainbow Book Tag

Pretty book covers are always going to be a weakness of mine, which I feel most people are well aware of now. The phase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ has never really applied to me and I’ve only discovered a few favourite books of mine after seeing how pretty the cover was. I was tagged by Jacquie at Rattle the Stars. Thanks so much for the tag Jacquie, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Rainbow Book Tag

Rules:

  • It must be the dominant colour of the cover not the spine!
  • If you do not own a book of a certain colour, just choose one that has the colour on it somewhere.
  • It has to be a book you own and/or has to be the exact edition you read (e.g. there are two different covers for Me Before You, you would choose the one you read).
  • Tag some people to do it! Whether they be Bloggers, Bookstagrammers or BookTubers.

    1. That’s all right! Same here, so many of the books I buy are first picked up because of their gorgeous covers, and thanks Ashley. I do love taking photos of my books, just couldn’t manage an Instagram account alongside my blog! 😀

  2. Wow these are some great book photos! I think I’m a fan of like 80% of the books you mentioned in this post – the only books I haven’t read are Poison Study and Defy the Stars. Oh and I found My True Love Gave to Me to be a slightly disappointing anthology. Out of curiosity, are these all books you loved or did you just pick a book for the color regardless of your feelings toward it?

    1. Thanks so much Rachana. 😀
Oh both Poison Study and Defy the Stars are amazing, if you’re interested in them I’d definitely say to pick them up when you next have an opportunity. That’s a shame about My True Love Gave to Me, but I get what you mean because I recently read an anthology I wasn’t too keen on. It happens.
Honestly most of these books are ones I loved, I tried to pick my favourite for each colour, though that was harder with some than others. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Dani! 😀 And this is just one small section of my bookshelves, trust me the rest of them aren’t as organised.
This was a lot of fun, oh I’m glad you’re enjoying ACOTAR so far and The Bone Season is one of my all-time favourite books. It can be a little heavy on the world building in the beginning but I’d say definitely worth the read. 🙂

  4. LOOOOOOVE THIS TAG AND ALL YOUR PHOTOS BETH!! I love seeing the UK versions of books! Sometimes I feel like you have better covers than the USA lol. I smiled seeing This Savage Song and The Night Circus, they’re just oh so gorgeous. Thank you for tagging me, this is going to be really fun to do ❤

    1. Thanks so much Gretchen, ❤ and yeah this tag was so much fun to take part in as well. I love taking photos. There are a few cases where I prefer the UK editions to the USA ones, we get some gorgeous ones over here every so often. They really are, and they're brilliant stories too. That's all right. I'll be looking forwards to seeing your picks for this one. 🙂

  5. Lovely photos Beth! gahhhh! *heart eyes emoji* whenever I see The Night Circus! If I had seen this post yesterday (know that’s impossible lol) it may have helped me decide which copy to buy from Book Depository HAHA! Brown is HARD, I’m sitting here trying to think of which book I have that is brown cuz Vicious has equal parts Orange on the cover smh LOL! enjoyed this tag 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Lilly. 🙂 Yeah whenever I see The Night Circus I’m the same, one day I really want to own a hardcover edition of that book but it’s so hard to find one.
It really is, of all the books I own (and I own a lot) Crooked Kingdom was the only one I felt applied, and I guess there were equal parts black on the cover so not sure it 100% counted.
      Thanks Lilly! 😀 ❤

      1. Goodness so would I! I spent so much time looking for the special limited edition with the red splayed edges but that’s considered a unicorn now 😂 yesterday I ordered the white paperback edition from Bookdepository 🤗 & I thought Brown would be hard, I’ll be checking my shelves tonight 😂

      2. I can imagine, if they don’t print it anymore it’s got to be hard to find a copy that isn’t going to insane amounts of money. At least you’ve now got a paperback edition at least. 🙂
I think Crooked Kingdom is the only book I have that applied. Good luck! 😀

  6. Oh my gosh, Beth! These photos are absolutely GORGEOUS! ❤ It was really cool to see all the alternate covers of these books, haha! Gosh, I just finished Gemina and while it wasn't as great as Illuminae, I still loved it! Oh dear, I really love the US cover of This Savage Song, but can't do anything about it, right? 😛

AGH ONE OF THE BOOKS ON MY SUMMER TBR WAS THE NIGHT CIRCUS AND I STILL HAVEN'T READ IT. I really need to get around to it because it seems to be a favorite of EVERYONE! Great tag, Beth! 😀 ❤

    1. Oh thanks so much May. 🙂 I really enjoy taking photos of books, I just couldn’t manage an Instagram account so every so often I’m able to take photos for my blog. Ha, yeah obviously I own the UK editions of all these books, and personally I think they’re gorgeous but that’s mainly because they’re the ones I own. Gemina is amazing, and it may not be Illuminae but still amazing right?
Oh my god definitely read The Night Circus when you get a chance May. It’s brilliant, one of my all-time favourite books, and I’d be really interested to see what you think of it too.
      Thanks so much! 😀 ❤
