So if you’ve ever wanted to know more about my blogging process then today is your lucky day, then again I do think I done a few tags like this where I talk about the blogger behind the blog. I was tagged by The Jouska Blog and Reg at She Latitude. Thanks so much both of you for the tag, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.
Rules:
- Answer the questions below.
- Credit the creator; Jamie at A Little Slice of Jamie.
- Tag at least five people.
- Have fun!
Where do you typically write your blog posts?
In my room. I like being alone when I’m writing, be it blog posts or just writing in general, and my room is always the best place to get privacy. If there’s no one else home I’ll occasionally venture into the lounge downstairs, but that’s a rare occurrence.
How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
It does vary depending on the book I’m reviewing. I’d say the average is around an hour/an hour fifteen minutes. There are exceptions of course; I think my shortest review was written in about forty five minutes, whereas my longest one took around two hours.
When did you start your book blog?
November 17th 2015. For a few days/weeks before that I’d been considering starting another blog (I’m sure most of you are aware of my three previous failed attempts at blogging) but it was only on the 17th that I made the leap. Why? There was a Top Ten Tuesday topic I wanted to take part in.
What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Probably the time it takes. Don’t get me wrong I love blogging, but in between writing posts, replying to comments, and blog-hopping most of spare time each evening after work is gone; and that’s saying nothing of the other social media accounts I’m (slowly) acquiring.
What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Definitely the community. I feel like this is a very standard answer, but there’s obviously a reason for it and that reason is that community is absolutely amazing! Although it takes a lot of time (as per my previous answer) commenting and blog-hopping is always one of the best parts of my day.
What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
Oh I couldn’t just choose one, so instead I’m going to choose my top three.
One Year Blogiversary: Q&A Answers Parts One and Two. Part of this was because I made it to my one year blogiversary when I doubted I’d be able to at first, but the other part was getting the chance to answer all the amazing questions I was sent by my followers.
The Who Am I Tag. Of all the tags I’ve taken part in to date this has been my absolute favourite. Basically it was an excuse to take part in a load of quizzes, which I love doing anyways, and learn more about myself as well.
Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite YA Book Covers, UK Edition Vs. US Edition. A lot of the time what I read is largely influenced by how pretty the cover is, so this post was basically a long awaited reason to gush about my favourite UK and US book covers.
What is your favourite type of blog post to write?
Probably book tags and awards. There are no two tags that are the same, and I love seeing the variety in the prompts and questions. Also they normally give me a chance to feature my favourite books and basically recommend them to people all over again.
When do you typically write?
If it’s a weekday then in the evenings after I’ve gotten home from work and eaten dinner. During the weekend it’s normally afternoons and evenings, and super early the next morning because if I don’t have work the next day I don’t go to sleep until 1/2am.
Do you review every book you read?
No. There have been new releases over the past year and a half from series I started before blogging. I skip reviewing them because I’d want to go back and review the earlier books on my blog before reviewing the newer one.
How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?
If I’m feeling lazy, or I’m just really cold, I’ll sit in bed under my duvet surrounded by pillows to write. If not I’ll sit in my chair. Either way there’s normally a movie playing on repeat in the background, at the moment it’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
At the moment I am up to date on my reviews so it’s normally the same day I finish the book. I find that way it’s all still fresh in my mind, what I thought of the story and the characters. Even when I’m behind on my reviews it never normally takes longer than a week to write the review after finishing a book.
How often do you post?
It does vary but an average would be six times a week. I’m not 100% sure how I maintain this and take time to reply to comments and blog-hop, but at the moment it’s working well for me so I’m not going to question it too much.
My tags:
- Alex at Alex Reads Books
- Azia at The Uncharted Word
- May at Forever and Everly
- Nia at Shades of Paper
And if there’s anyone else out there who wants to take part, consider yourself tagged. Just send me a link to your post in the comments so I can see what your answers are.
Brilliant tag loved reading your thoughts

Time is suuuuuch an issue. When life keeps me busy (this week for example), I start to realize how blogging becomes so much harder. I just enjoy the community and posting reviews, that it’s almost impossible for me to not do it. I’m still super surprised by the frequency at which you post (6 per week) is insane!! Got to say that’s probably super effective for your blog too. Keep up the amazing work Beth! I’m not surprised that you managed to keep this blog alive for a whole year. You can totally do it for 100 years. 😉

It really really is, there’s just never enough of it. Yeah there are times when blogging is harder for me too, I always try and make time for it but there are days you have to put it to one side to deal with real-life problems. I spend a lot of time on WordPress, add to that how little time I spend asleep and I guess I make the time to post that frequently. 🙂
Thanks so so much Lashaan! 😀 I’m hoping to keep this blog alive for another year at least. I’m taking it a year at a time for now.

Wonderful answers, Beth! Blogging is definitely a rewarding experience but it sure is a time-consuming activity. But it’s all worth it in the end because we get to interact with so many fascinating and wonderful bloggers in the community 🙂 And I remember that favorite book covers post! That was a very enjoyable one to read! Book tags are so much fun, especially when you actually have the time to do them haha. I love seeing everyone’s answers to those. And I love how often you post. Your content is never boring either 😀 Thanks so much for the tag! I’ll try to get around to it once I’ve caught myself up on all my reviews because oh lord am I behind LOL

Thanks so much Azia! 🙂 Yes it takes a lot of time blogging but I never regret it, and that’s part of why I’m still blogging even now. If I wasn’t enjoying it I would have given up long ago. 🙂
Oh I’m really glad you liked reading that post Azia, kind of makes it worth while posting here to know people love to read what I write. 😀
Book tags have introduced me to more than a few books I probably wouldn’t have discovered otherwise, I think I discovered THUG through a book tag before ever reading a review for it, and that’s one of my favourite reads of this year.
That’s all right, I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your answers and don’t worry because I’m really behind as well! 😀

That’s exactly right 😀 I never regret it either. I just love being part of the community and sharing my thoughts with everyone else!
I love book tags for that! I always find new books to look into, as well 🙂
Yay! And glad I’m not the only one haha 😉

Same here, it’s nice posting and hearing from people in the community who agree or want to discuss their thoughts with you. Especially because I love talking about books and this is the only place I can do that!
I think everyone on here has to be in a similar situation when it comes to tags! 😀

I agree that blogging takes SO MUCH time. Sometimes it feels like I spend more time book blogging than actually reading books 🙂 Great tag!

Oh it really does, and yeah I feel like that as well, especially because I can read books quite quickly. Still it’s worth it in the end to talk to all the friends I’ve made so far. Thanks so much Holly. 🙂

It is crazy how you manage to have such a blogging rhythm and blog hop while having to work and everything else. I am and will always be fascinated by that, I have no idea how you manage to do it all. Do you sleep at all? Ahah 🙂
It’s so great you can write the review for the books you’ve read very quickly – I soooo wish I could manage to do that, for some reason I can’t beacuse I always need to write the reviews I missed before and…well, it’s endless ahah 🙂
Lovely answers, Beth 🙂

To be honest I really don’t get as much sleep as I probably should. Also with my three hours commute to and from work that gives me a lot of time to read or reply to comments on the train most days. Either way my schedule works well at the moment so I’m not going to question it too much.
Well I’m up to date on my reviews at the moment but that may change at some point and I’ll be a few weeks behind or something. 🙂
Thanks so much Marie! 😀 ❤

These are definitely my favorite kinds of tags to read as it really allows the blogger to talk more about themselves and how they blog! I really loved reading all of your answers!
I have major respect for you for being able to post 6 times a week when you’re doing this on your own! I have no idea how you do it!

Thanks so much Swetlana, and yeah I’m the same. I always enjoy reading the tags like these, where you can get to know the blogger a little more, than any others out there.
Neither do I if I’m being honest, but at the moment it’s working for me so I’m not going to look too much into it! 😀

I loved your thoughtful answers! You are so good that it only takes you a day or two to review! I have to set deadlines for posts, lol… yeah it’s a lot of work to post almost everyday but I like that schedule too…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks so much Dani. I review books that quickly after I finish them as a necessity more than anything else. The longer I leave a review the more likely I am to forget what I read, and the events will get mixed up in my head with the other books I read in between.
When you find a schedule that works you stick to it don’t you? 🙂

Loved reading this! Great choice in movie that you’re currently watching! I need to rewatch Fantastic Beasts soon!
I’m with you, I like to review my books the same day! Sometimes it’s hard because I’ll finish a book right before I go to bed… which is a lot of the time now that I think about it, so what I do is write all my thoughts (or well most of them) on a sticky so writing the review comes easier! 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks so much Meghan. Pretty much the second I got Fantastic Beasts on DVD I re-watched it, and now whenever I’m not sure what I want to watch I go back to Fantastic Beasts again. 🙂
Nine times out of ten I finish books late afternoon/early evening, so I still have a few hours to get a review written. Most times I find if I leave it too long the events will get mixed up in my mind with the next book I pick up you know? 🙂

I know exactly what you mean. That’s why I do the sticky note thing. That way I can start a new book in the morning & remember what went on in the book I finished the night before.
That is such a good thing to do, I should start rewatching things, especially Fantastic Beasts since I loved that movie!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I may have to start doing the sticky note thing myself. Especially if I start getting a little behind on my reviews like I have been in the past. 🙂
Pretty much all I do is re-watch things, and there are so many new things I still need to get around to as well. 😀

I say it’s a really good system & I recommend it, especially if you want to start reading something right after.
Haha nice! Tell me about new things, my list is probably as long as my tbr 😛

I probably will then. There are some books I literally cannot wait to start, and this will help with allowing me to start them even sooner! 😀

It’s the same for me, especially in winter when it’s really cold outside and I’m nice and cosy surrounded by blankets and pillows as I blog! 😀

I’m always in awe of how much you post each week! I DEFINITELY could not post almost every day. XD And AYYYYY you started my blog on my birthday! So now whenever it’s my bday I’ll remember that it’s also your blogiversary. 😉 Oh my gosh, TIME is suuuuch a problem with blogging! You have to really use it wisely or face procrastination and stress. But the community more than makes up for it! I’ve made sooo many friends through my blog that I would not have stopped blogging because of time problems! And yeah, I don’t write reviews any later than a week either. Sometimes I write it in the same day — but usually I don’t, so 1) my thoughts can sit with me for a bit longer and organize themselves (because it’s usually a jumbled mess of feelings XD), and 2) I normally finish books around the nighttime. 😛 Thanks so much for tagging me! ❤

Ahh, thanks May. Honestly I’m not sure how I post as often as I do, probably because I don’t get a lot of sleep so I have more time in between work to draft and reply to comments. 🙂 Oh cool, now I’ll definitely remember your birthday as well because it’s also my blogiversary! 😀
Same here, sometimes when I’m not feeling like blogging I always think of the people I talk to on WordPress and it gives me a reason to keep going you know? I find the longer I leave reviews unwritten the easier it is for me to forget what happened and my thoughts on it. That makes sense, normally I finish books late afternoon/early evening so I’ve then got plenty of time to write the review later that evening. Plus that way I can start a new book the following day and don’t have to worry about my thoughts being mixed up between both books you know?
That’s all right, I’m excited to see your answers for this tag May! 😀 ❤

Oh, Beth, if you need more sleep, don’t feel like you don’t have to post! Always take care of yourself before blogging. 🙂 ❤
Yes, I just imagine a sad lonely life without my blogging friends… XD Oh, that's a pretty good idea! I tend to procrastinate reading… so it gets done at night. But I definitely think that my thoughts can get a little mixed up, haha!

Oh don’t worry, I don’t need more sleep I’ve just always been a night owl so I go to sleep late and wake up later. 🙂
Same here, honestly I can even remember what I did that was so great before I started blogging. I read whenever I have a spare moment, which is normally during my commutes to and from work. 😀
