Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Most Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2017.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Most Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2017.

There were so many amazing, and highly anticipated, books released during the first half of 2017 that I focused too much on those and haven’t paid a lot of attention to what’s being released throughout the second half of the year. Unsurprisingly there are a lot of books, again highly anticipated, being released throughout the second half of the year.

Top Ten Tuesday #67

Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab
Release Date: June 13th 2017

V.E. Schwab is one of my all-time favourite authors, so anytime she has a book due-to-be-released it’s always on my most anticipated releases list. While I wasn’t as much of a fan of her Monsters of Verity series as I was her Shades of Magic series I still loved it, and can’t wait for the second book.

Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human, no matter how much he once yearned for it. He’s a monster with a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.

Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows – one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons – it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
Release Date: June 13th 2017

When I read Every Heart a Doorway I thought it was a standalone, until looking on Goodreads I saw it was the first book in a series. I loved the concept behind the first book, and was so glad to see the author was expanding it by actually going into one of the fantasy worlds in this second book.

Twin sisters Jack and Jill were seventeen when they found their way home and were packed off to Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children.

This is the story of what happened first…

Jacqueline was her mother’s perfect daughter—polite and quiet, always dressed as a princess. If her mother was sometimes a little strict, it’s because crafting the perfect daughter takes discipline.

Jillian was her father’s perfect daughter—adventurous, thrill-seeking, and a bit of a tom-boy. He really would have preferred a son, but you work with what you’ve got.

They were five when they learned that grown-ups can’t be trusted.

They were twelve when they walked down the impossible staircase and discovered that the pretence of love can never be enough to prepare you a life filled with magic in a land filled with mad scientists and death and choices.

The Savage Dawn by Melissa Grey
Release Date: July 6th 2017

While they weren’t all-time favourites of mine I loved the first two books in The Girl at Midnight series. The Savage Dawn is the conclusion to the trilogy and I think it will likely end up being the best of the series, and after the way the second book ended I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

The sides have been chosen and the battle lines drawn.

Echo awakened the Firebird. Now she is the only one with the power to face the darkness she unwittingly unleashed…right into the waiting hands of Tanith, the new Dragon Prince. Tanith has one goal in mind: destroy her enemies, raze their lands, and reign supreme in a new era where the Drakharin are almighty and the Avicen are nothing but a memory.

The war that has been brewing for centuries is finally imminent. But the scales are tipped. Echo might hold the power to face the darkness within the Dragon Prince, but she has far to go to master its overwhelming force. And now she’s plagued by uncertainty. With Caius no longer by her side, she doesn’t know if she can do it alone. Is she strong enough to save her home and the people she loves?

Whether Echo is ready to face this evil is not the question. The war has begun, and there is no looking back. There are only two outcomes possible: triumph or death.

Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy by Ameriie (Editor)
Release Date: July 13th 2017

Normally anthologies aren’t my thing, although the only two I’ve read so far I have ended up really enjoying so maybe I should look into them more. Either way the second I saw what this anthology was about, and who some of the authors writing stories were, it went to the top of my to-read list.

Leave it to the heroes to save the world—villains just want to rule the world.

In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains’ points of view.

These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like “Medusa,” Sherlock Holmes, and “Jack and the Beanstalk” provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains’ acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage—and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!

Featuring writing from…

Authors: Renée Ahdieh, Ameriie, Soman Chainani, Susan Dennard, Sarah Enni, Marissa Meyer, Cindy Pon, Victoria Schwab, Samantha Shannon, Adam Silvera, Andrew Smith, April Genevieve Tucholke, and Nicola Yoon

BookTubers: Benjamin Alderson (Benjaminoftomes), Sasha Alsberg (abookutopia), Whitney Atkinson (WhittyNovels), Tina Burke (ChristinaReadsYA blog and TheLushables), Catriona Feeney (LittleBookOwl), Jesse George (JessetheReader), Zoë Herdt (readbyzoe), Samantha Lane (Thoughts on Tomes), Sophia Lee (thebookbasement), Raeleen Lemay (padfootandprongs07), Regan Perusse (PeruseProject), Christine Riccio (polandbananasBOOKS), and Steph Sinclair & Kat Kennedy (Cuddlebuggery blog and channel).

Fireblood by Elly Blake
Release Date: September 7th 2017

I enjoyed the first book in the series, and was really excited to discover Fireblood was being released in the same year because that meant less time to wait! Reading the blurb I’m a little anxious about the love triangle that seems to be happening but I have faith it will work out for the best.

In this action-packed sequel to Frostblood, the future of Ruby’s world and a court ruled by the love of her life depends on the uncovered secrets of her past. Perfect for fans of Red Queen and Throne of Glass.

‘With a fierce and vibrant world, richly-drawn characters, a steamy romance, and page-turning twists, Frostblood has all the elements of a great fantasy.’ – Morgan Rhodes, New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen Kingdom series

Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But the bloodthirsty Minax that was trapped inside is now haunting her kingdom and everyone she loves. The answers to its demise may lie to the south in Sudesia, the land of the Firebloods, and a country that holds the secrets to Ruby’s powers and past…

Despite warnings from her beloved Arcus, Ruby accompanies a roguish Fireblood named Kai to Sudesia, where she must master her control of fire in a series of trials to gain the trust of the suspicious Fireblood queen. Only then can she hope to access the knowledge that could defeat the rampaging Minax—which grows closer every moment. But as sparks fly in her moments alone with Kai, how can Ruby decide whom to trust? The fate of both kingdoms is now in her hands.

Tarnished City by Vic James
Release Date: September 7th 2017

After the way Gilded Cage ended I need the next book to discover what happens to all the characters, but especially Luke. I was much of a fan of the romance in the first book, but maybe that will be better in this one. Either way the Dark Gifts series has revived the dystopian genre for me.

The continuation of the darkly fantastical Downton Abbey-esque series – set in an England where curiously gifted aristocrats reign – and the commoners who are doomed to serve them attempt to spark a revolution.

The rebellion to free the lower classes from ten years of forced service to unfairly advantaged, magically powered rulers may have failed. Teenage siblings and would be revolutionaries – one imprisoned, the other desperate for aid – have seen their magical allies stripped of their power. While the mysterious young aristocrat has revealed the incredible extent of his dark gifts.

The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
Release Date: September 26th 2017

This book is a combination of my favourite things; Leigh Bardugo, the Grishaverse, myths, fairytales, and folklore. I have loved everything Leigh Bardugo has written so far, including her already-released short stories, so I am sure I will love the three new tales in this book, complete with illustrations.

Love speaks in flowers. Truth requires thorns.

Travel to a world of dark bargains struck by moonlight, of haunted towns and hungry woods, of talking beasts and gingerbread golems, where a young mermaid’s voice can summon deadly storms and where a river might do a lovestruck boy’s bidding but only for a terrible price.

Inspired by myth, fairy tale, and folklore, #1 New York Times bestselling author Leigh Bardugo has crafted a deliciously atmospheric collection of short stories filled with betrayals, revenge, sacrifice, and love.

Perfect for new readers and dedicated fans, these tales will transport you to lands both familiar and strange—to a fully realized world of dangerous magic that millions have visited through the novels of the Grishaverse.

This collection of six stories includes three brand-new tales, all of them lavishly illustrated with art that changes with each turn of the page, culminating in six stunning full-spread illustrations as rich in detail as the stories themselves.

Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
Release Date: October 3rd 2017

Last year magical realism fast became one of my favourite genres, and just as quickly Anna-Marie McLemore became one of my favourite authors. When the Moon Was Ours was one of my favourite books of 2016 so I have no doubts that Wild Beauty will be one of my favourite books of 2017.

Love grows such strange things.

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater
Release Date: October 10th 2017

Maggie Stiefvater’s series seem to be a bit hit and miss for me; I loved The Raven Cycle, but wasn’t keen on The Wolves of Mercy Falls. I’m hoping All the Crooked Saints will be a hit, the blurb certainly sounds intriguing and the cover is gorgeous, so if that’s anything to go by this book will be brilliant.

From bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater, a gripping tale of darkness, miracles, and family!

Saints. Miracles. Family. Romance. Death. Redemption.

The book takes place in the 1960s in Bicho Raro, Colorado and follows the lives of three members of the Soria family—each of whom is searching for their own miracle. There’s Beatriz, who appears to lack feelings but wants to study her mind; Daniel, the “Saint” of Bicho Raro, a miracle worker for everyone but himself; and Joaquin (a.k.a. Diablo Diablo), who runs a pirate radio station at night.

“The Soria family are saints as well, and the miracle they perform for pilgrims to Bicho Raro is as strange as most miracles are: They can make the darkness inside you visible. Once the pilgrims see their inner darkness face to face, it’s up to them to perform another miracle on themselves: banishing the darkness for good. It can be a tricky business to vanquish your inner demons, even once you know what they are, but the Sorias are forbidden to help with this part. They’ve all been told that if a Soria interferes with the second miracle, it will bring out their own darkness, and a saint’s darkness, so the story goes, is a most potent and dangerous thing.” – Maggie Stiefvater, EW interview.

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
Release Date: October 10th 2017

This seems to be a highly anticipated release for a lot of people, I’ve seen this book around WordPress a lot recently, and it’s starting to become a highly anticipated release for me as well. I am a massive fan of retellings and based on the blurb this sounds like the perfect book for me.

An East Asian fantasy reimagining of The Evil Queen legend about one peasant girl’s quest to become Empress—and the darkness she must unleash to achieve her destiny.

Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfil the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng’s majestic future. But is the price of the throne too high?

Because in order to achieve greatness, she must spurn the young man who loves her and exploit the callous magic that runs through her veins—sorcery fuelled by eating the hearts of the recently killed. For the god who has sent her on this journey will not be satisfied until his power is absolute.

So what do you think? Did you take part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, if so let me know what your most anticipated reads for the second half of 2017 are.

  1. So far, the only thing O’ve read by V.E. Schwab is the SOM trilogy! I have yet to read This Savage Song. Hopefully I can get to it sometime this summer before the sequel comes out 😀 Vicious is also on my summer TBR! And I’ll read anything by Leigh Bardugo so I’m excited for the Language of Thorns too! So far, I’ve liked most of what I’ve read by Maggie S. So I’m really excited to see what Crooked Saints is all about 😀 Haven’t heard of he other ones, but I’ll look into them some more. Great picks Beth! 🙂

    1. Well in my opinion her Shades of Magic series is the best of the best but her other books are really good too so I’m sure you’ll love them when you get around to them Azia. Vicious especially is an amazing read! 😀
I’m the same, anything Leigh Bardugo releases is a must-read for me, and if I enjoy All the Crooked Saints it will be the same for Maggie Stiefvater’s books too.
Thanks so much Azia! 😀 ❤

  2. Our Dark Duet!!! The only series I’ve read from Schwab, so I guess it explains why its the only book in this list that strikes me first and the hardest! Looking forward to your thoughts on it. I might not buy it on release though, This Savage Song could gladly stand as a fantastic stand-alone in my memory if this finale flops in any way possible (is that even possible though? hahaha)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Oh if This Savage Song is the only series you’ve read by V.E. Schwab then you need to start A Darker Shade of Magic. That book, and actually that series, is an ultimate all-time favourite of mine.
Honestly I don’t think it’s possible for any of V.E. Schwab’s books to flop, but I’ll be sure to let you know what I think when I’ve finished Our Dark Duet, just in case. 🙂

  3. I am SO out of the loop that I barely know any of these releases! Well, save for Our Dark Duet (of course) and Wild Beauty, which I have on my own list (as you know, haha). I’ve heard of All the Crooked Saints before, but I read somewhere that it’s potentially offensive to certain cultures so I’m a bit uncertain about picking it up.

I have only heard of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by name until now but that summary is so gold. Definitely adding that one to my TBR! Great list, Beth. ❤

    1. Well you’ve got time to catch up before they’re all released Reg, and as long as you’ve heard of Our Dark Duet that’s something. I may be behind on certain releases by V.E. Schwab’s are ones I always try and keep on top of. Oh, I hadn’t heard anything like that about All the Crooked Saints, I may have to check out some reviews for that one before picking it up myself after all.
It sounds just amazing. Plenty of people seem to be talking about it at the moment and most can’t wait for it to be released. I am going to be one of them I think. 😀
      Thanks so much Reg! ❤

  4. I am so looking forward to Leigh Bardugos new book!!! 😀 and I should really get to reading Frostblood if the sequel is being released this year as well!! 🙂

  5. Several of these are second books to series that I’ve still yet to read. I need to hurry and catch up already. 😂 I especially need to read This Savage Song and Frostblood. Anyway! I am beyond excited for Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy (mostly because of Victoria Schwab and Samantha Shannon!!), The Language of Thorns, and Tarnished City. Especially Tarnished City, which we’ve already talked about a little, because of the ending for Gilded Cage. I need to know what happens next big time! I’m so glad we don’t have to wait a year after that cliffhanger. If only it was always like that. I’m also really excited for Wild Beauty but am definitely putting off reading it until I’ve read both of the author’s other books. Mainly When The Moon Was Ours because I plan on reading that one first, I’ve been putting off for way too long. Great picks for this, Beth!! 💕😃

    1. Well you still have some time before the books on this list are released, maybe enough time to get around to the first books in the series? 😀 This Savage Song is amazing, and it’s by Schwab too so I feel that’s pretty much a guarantee you’ll love it. Frostblood is a really good book as well. Because You Love to Hate Me is going to be amazing, that’s one anthology I’ve actually added to my TBR list, same with The Language of Thorns and Tarnished City. God there are just so many amazing books on here. God can you imagine if we’d had to wait any longer for Tarnished City!!! The wait we’ve had has felt like much too long.
Oh that’s a good idea, also I feel if you life Anna-Marie McLemore’s other releases that’s got to be a guarantee you’ll love Wild Beauty as well!
      Thanks Melissa! 😀 ❤

      1. I would have if I hadn’t decided it was time to binge read ToG. Which I promised myself I wouldn’t go near until the last book was released but well I couldn’t help myself. 😂 I do plan on trying to get around to both soon though. At the very least This Savage Song because I want to read the rest of Schwab’s books big time.
I seriously can’t wait for Because You Love to Hate Me! Which my question from another comment about if Schwab and Shannon were both writing for that anthology just answered itself lol.
Right? If we would have had to wait even longer for Tarnished City it would have been too long. It doesn’t even feel like I just read it at the beginning of the year. It definitely feels like it’s been longer.
        You’re welcome, Beth!! 😊💕

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Well I feel like binge reading ToG is a good choice either way, and oh I can’t wait for you to be up-to-date with this series as well because I need more people to talk to about the end of the fifth book in preparation for the sixth book to be released! 😀
Ha, yes they have both wrote a story for this anthology haven’t they? And seeing both their names in this one is the main thing that inspired me to pick it up! 😀
Same here, although I almost feel like the fact we haven’t had to wait long for the second book means we’ll either have a killer cliffhanger at the end of the second and/or a really long wait for book three! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Definitely a good choice because I am loving ToG so much! I honestly didn’t expect to love it as much as I am. I feel like SJM could write anything at this point and I would love it. 😂 I have a question though – Did you read The Assassin’s Blade before you read the rest of the series? I haven’t read it yet and I’m contemplating whether I should before I read Heir of Fire or not. And sadly I know a bit about Empire of Storms ending. There’s a lot of little spoilers that I know for the Throne of Glass books. I don’t know the full details but well enough to have a vague idea on how the most recent book ends. 🙈 I mean I’m still enjoying it despite having some spoilers but I can’t help but think it would be so much better if I had gone in more blind.
Yep and same! Especially Samantha Shannon because so far we only have TBS for her and it’s going to be interesting seeing something else non-TBS written by her. 😁
Right? That’s what I’ve been thinking. Either book two has a terrible cliffhanger or the wait for the last book is going to be really long. I would actually prefer a longer wait to another cliffhanger.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I know for a fact SJM could write anything and I would fall all over myself to read it because I know I’ll love it! I haven’t actually read The Assassin’s Blade yet, it’s on my to-read list, and one day I’ll get around to it, but when is anyone’s guess. Sorry I can’t offer more advice on this subject. 🙂
Oh that is a shame, but yeah I guess as series like this you’re always going to run into spoilers at some point or another. Hopefully you’ll still enjoy the book just as much because EoS is brilliant! Besides just think if you manage to get up to date on the series you can go into the sixth book blind, and I reckon book six will be amazing! 😀
It’s definitely going to be interesting, but I think whatever she writes is going to be amazing. She’s another author I will buy anything from! 🙂
Same here, but we could end up being really unlucky and having to deal with both, a long wait and a cliffhanger! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      5. You should so read The Assassin’s Blade! I read it and loved it more than I thought I would because I was really impatient to get into Heir of Fire. It also broke my heart but still it was incredible. 😁
I feel like it’s so easy to run into spoilers for SJM books because everyone it always talking about them whenever a new one is released. I’m starting EoS tonight so here’s to hoping. And YES! I can’t wait for book six because I’m going into that one completely blind. I’m even going to avoid the synopsis and any and all teasers or excerpts. I’m actually not read for it to end though. It’s like I just got into the amazing series and it’s about to end lol.
I agree, I think it’s going to be amazing and same. Samantha Shannon is definitely and auto buy author for me.
True and it would really suck if we did end up getting both a cliffhanger and long wait. 😂

        Liked by 1 person

      6. I’ll probably end up reading it in the run up to the release of the sixth ToG book. Until then I feel if I start it any earlier I’m just going to want the sixth book right this second. Yeah I think I know why it breaks your heart given I’ve read the rest of the series so I’ve gotta psyche myself up for that a little. 🙂
Everyone is talking about them but I managed to miss most of them when I was reading the series, not really sure how but I don’t really run into spoilers much.
Oh that’s great, you’ll have to let me know what you think of EoS right away once you’ve finished it Melissa. 🙂 That’s what I’m doing with book six too! 😀

  6. Great list! I had no idea there was a new Maggie Stiefavter book! Something to look forward too! 😀

Also I couldn’t comment on your recent wrap up post, so I’m going to comment here & say congrats on the new job! That must be super exciting, have a good holiday, are you going anywhere? I can’t wait to read more of the Percy Jackson series! I’ve read the first three books of the Olympians and I love it, I’m sad I’m almost done, but I’m happy that it’s not the complete end as there are more series with the characters! 😀

    1. Thanks so much Meghan. Yeah it seems like there were a fair few releases I was unaware of as well, but All the Crooked Saints sounds really good so hopefully it will be. 🙂
Yeah someone else mentioned that as well. I managed to fix the issue now but thanks for letting me know! 🙂 And thanks again, I’m really excited to be starting a new job, and really looking forwards to my holiday as well. I’m going to Krakow with my mum, aunt and sister, so a girl holiday! 😀
There are plenty more series with the same characters, everything Rick Riordan writes is amazing and I’m sure you’ll love the remaining books in the first series you still have to read! 😀

      1. I never know what’s coming out until I see posts like this and then I’m like, okay now I know what to expect haha!
Oh you’re welcome, I thought it was my computer acting weird. I’ve had issues with WordPress in the comments where certain letters won’t work & it’s only on WordPress, like all the keys work everywhere else, so I’m not sure what’s up with that. Glad it’s not me, and glad you got it fixed!
That’s the best way to start a new job, some time off for a holiday, that’s what I did a few months ago; it felt real nice just to have a week to myself. Ooo a girls holiday sounds like SO much fun! 😀
This is true, everything Riordan writes is so good! I can’t wait to continue! 🙂

      2. In a way it’s because of posts like this I do know what’s coming out, for the most part anyway. I need to find books to feature so I go searching Goodreads for them! 😀
Wordpress does have a few bugs every now and again but I think this was potentially something I did by accident while drafting the post. Either way I managed to get it fixed thanks to you guys letting me know! 😀
I almost feel a little bad, start a new job and then immediately go on holiday, but it’s been booked for longer than I applied for the job so oh well. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. I don’t have time to go through Goodreads for new releases, but WordPress and this whole community are very helpful about what’s new!
I agree, it does, it’s annoying but manageable. Glad to hear you got it sorted out!
Oh you’re starting your new job before you go on holiday? I’ve actually known a few people who’ve done that. It’s just the holiday is planned before you know you have the job!

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Well as long as it keeps you up to date on the new releases that’s what matters right?
Thanks Meghan. I know what to check in the future as well so it’s been a learning experience.
Yep, it’s happened this time around like that. I guess it helps ease me in that I have a few upcoming breaks in between starting my new job! 😀

  7. Oooh I seem to see so little about The Savage Dawn (or the Girl at Midnight trilogy in general to be honest)! I’m so excited for it! And Language of Thorns already looks so gorgeous, I just need to hold it in my hands so I can admire it properly!

Here’s my TTT if you want to check it out 😀

    1. I only got around to The Girl at Midnight trilogy (or the two books that had been released so far) recently but I really enjoyed it, and you’re right there doesn’t seem to be much said about it which is a shame I think. 🙂
God it really does, and if Leigh Bardugo’s previous books are anything to go by the book is going to be just as amazing as the cover is!
Thanks for the link, I’ll definitely check out your TTT. 🙂

  8. Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy! yes I am so ready to meet the villains some of my favorite authors have created (Adam SIlvera lol). I’ve missed a couple debuts like Elly Blakes but I full intend to catch up. I loved This Savage Song & can’t wait for Our Dark Duet, maybe it’s cuz I play dark violin instrumentals while I read this on LOL! Maggie Stiefvater is also very hit or miss for me for the same reasons you’ve listed, loved The Raven Cycle hated the other one & may give this one a shot. &&& I’m SOOOO ready for Tarnished City that I am def pre-ordering which I don’t really do much of with my books. EPIC list Beth! 🙂

    1. Yes Because You Love to Hate Me is one anthology I will definitely be checking out. I don’t normally read anthologies but this one is definitely a must! 😀 Frostblood is a good read, and This Savage Song is amazing, then again what else could you expect from V.E. Schwab. 🙂
I’m hoping The Wolves of Mercy Falls was a fluke for me. I loved The Raven Cycle so much I want to be able to go into Maggie Stiefvater’s new release and know I’m going to love it. I guess we just need to wait and see. I have high hopes for Tarnished City, I can’t wait to have it in my hands! 😀 Thanks so much Lilly. ❤

I might also have to check out Every Heart A Doorway! I’ve seen quite a few people really praise the book lately and it has me curious for sure!

    1. You still have some time left to get around to This Savage Song. It’s a great book so hopefully you’ll really enjoy it, and then you’ll be able to really enjoy Our Dark Duet as well! 😀
I’m sure The Language of Thorns and All the Crooked Saints will be amazing, I have complete faith in both the authors. The Forest of a Thousand Lanterns is a recent discovery for me but yeah it grabbed my attention right away too. 🙂
Every Heart a Doorway is a brilliant read in my opinion, and a book I’d highly recommend as well. There is literally nothing else like it. 😀

  11. I’m super excited for Maggie Stiefvater’s new book! Her stories are always so creative and original, though I do agree that the Wolves of Mercy Falls series was sort of a miss for me as well.

    1. It does sound like it’ll be good, and after loving The Raven Cycle books I’m really hoping her new series will be a hit for me as well. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that The Wolves of Mercy Falls was just a fluke and we’ll love all the books she still has in the works! 😀

    1. Oh they really do. I was excited for both those books anyway because I’ve loved each of the authors works so far, but the covers are so gorgeous they’ve just made me even more excited! 🙂
They sound like interesting books Ellie, I hope they live up to your expectations when they’re finally released! 😀
