The Sunshine Blogger Award Part Three

Last, but by no means least, comes part three of The Sunshine Blogger Award with answers to the final lot of questions, I was tagged by Lauren at Comma Hangover, Sydney at Fire and Rain Books, and Ellie at Blogging for Dopamine. Thanks so much for the tag everyone, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions to answer.

Lauren’s Questions:

  1. If the apocalypse was coming and you had to evacuate Earth, what are three things you would take with you (both bookish and non-bookish items accepted)?

My laptop, because it pretty much has my whole life on it and I’d be lost without it. My car, because it’s my dream car and I love the sense of freedom it gives me. And my bed, because it’s comfy and I love sleeping.

  1. If you could pick up any skill and be an expert at it, what would you most like to learn and why?

I’d love to be able to pick up languages really quickly, like I said earlier I’m learning Italian but it’s slow going so having some kind of skill in languages already would be a massive help.

  1. What is the case on your phone right now and where did you get it? Does it have any significance or memories tied to it?

I don’t have a phone case, and probably won’t end up getting one either. I really should though, because I have a bad habit of dropping my phone and breaking it, but I’ve just never gotten around to it for some reason.

  1. Can you describe yourself in three fictional characters (movie or film)? Who are they? What are their traits?

Cress from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, because I too spend too much time daydreaming and off dreaming of adventures. Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, because I too am awkward and unsure in new situations and around new people. And Nix from The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig, because I too dream of travelling all over the world whenever and wherever I wish.

Three Characters

  1. If you were given a one-way ticket to anywhere and anywhen you wanted, where would you go and why?

Amsterdam. Of all the cities and countries I’ve visited it remains my favourite place in the world, and honestly I could actually see myself living there someday.

Sydney’s Questions:

  1. Where’s your favourite place to read?

In my room, in my bed. Do I sometimes fall asleep reading? Yes, quite a bit actually, but it’s always going to be the best place in my home to curl up with a good book.

  1. What book do you wish you were a part of and why?

I’ve really used this as an answer to so many questions in this tag but The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I want to be able to spend all night exploring the circus; seeing the tents and the acts with my own eyes, and tasting all the amazing foods they have on offer there.

The Night Circus

  1. Which fictional character do you want to marry?

None. I don’t really read books and pick out the characters that I would say are my book boyfriends, or who I’d want to marry. Sorry.

  1. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would probably be Warriors by Imagine Dragons. It’s my favourite song at the moment and has actually been a song that’s been my favourite the most as well. I guess I could handle listening to just that one for the rest of my life.

  1. What’s your favourite movie and why?

The Mummy. I watch this film over and over, like I mentioned in my previous post answering one of Niraja’s questions, and I just never get tired of it. Chances are it’s playing in the background while I’m reading or blogging any given evening.

the-mummy

  1. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Again like I mentioned in answer to one of Lauren’s question above it would be Amsterdam. I went there for a weekend break a couple of years back and pretty much instantly fell in love with the city.

  1. What is the best gift you’ve ever been given?

A couple of years ago, a month before my birthday, me and one of my friends went to a convention for our favourite TV show, and my favourite actor from the show was there. That was a great weekend but fast forward a month to my birthday and I’m being handed a joint present from all of my friends at dinner. It took me a while to make the connection but while at the convention my friend had gotten my favourite actor from the show to sign a birthday card for me. Definitely the best present.

  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?

It’s kind of boring but the first thing I’d do is pay off my student loans. Second would be to take all the time I needed and travel all over the world. After all if money is no object I wouldn’t need to worry about my job anymore.

  1. Do you have a bucket list? If so, what’s at the top of it?

I do have a bucket list, and it includes literally everything I want to do. Number one on that list, and it’s not so much because it’s what I want to do the most but because it was the very first thing I added, is to go sky diving (something I may have the opportunity to do next year!).

  1. What song would you say best sums you up?

I wouldn’t say it particularly sums me up but at the moment the song I seem to connect with the most is Something Just Like This by Coldplay and the Chainsmokers.

  1. What’s your favourite type of weather? Why?

I love winter weather, particularly because when it is cold and miserable and dark outside there’s nothing better than being warm and cosy inside.

Ellie’s Questions:

  1. Are you hooked on any particular TV show at the moment? What is it?

Definitely iZombie. I’m partway through the third season now, watching the episodes as they’re released which makes it one of the only TV shows I love that I’m up to date on, and it’s been amazing. This series has everything I love; amazing storylines full of humour and tension, great acting and intriguing characters.

iZombie

  1. What was the last book you read? How did you find it?

The House of Hades by Rick Riordan. I don’t know if you can say I ‘found’ this book as it’s the continuation of a series. I discovered Rick Riordan’s books after I joined WordPress ad saw so many people talking about them and how amazing they were. I loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and if anything I love The Heroes of Olympus books so much more.

The House of Hades

  1. Battle of the entertainment mediums! Which is your favourite – books, TV, films, comic books, video games, tabletop games etc.?

Well I’m only really a fan of books, TV, and film, so out of all of those the answer is obviously going to be books. As amazing as some films are nothing can beat reading and imagining everything in your head making it as epic as possible.

  1. Is there any fictional character you have always wanted to be? Who?

There are so many; Hermione from the Harry Potter series, Gauri from A Crown of Wishes, Lila from the Shades of Magic series, Nix from The Girl From Everywhere. Basically I want to have magic and have adventures.

A Crown of Wishes

shades-of-magic-uk-series

The Girl From Everywhere

Until that day I’ll settle for reading about them.

  1. Science or technology?

Technology. While I don’t know much about either I know I couldn’t live without things like my laptop or my iPad.

  1. Have you ever read a book that you felt was written just for you? What was it?

There’s not really one specific book but the ones I normally feel the strongest about are those in the magical realism genre. Bone Gap by Laura Ruby, When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore, The Love that Split the World by Emily Henry.

Magical Realism

  1. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Hawaiian pizza. It’s not authentic Italian cuisine, and plenty of people hate the fact that pineapples have been put on pizza, but it’s my favourite and I could live off it for the rest of my life and not get bored.

  1. Can an adaptation ever be better than the original?

I don’t think so, but not in the sense of the story or the writing but more in the sense that if the original never existed then the adaptation wouldn’t either. I think it’s hard for an adaptation to be better than the source material it uses as inspiration for that reason alone.

  1. Who is the most famous person you’ve met?

In terms of authors it would probably be Patrick Ness, or Maggie Stiefvater, I’m not sure which of them would be considered more famous than the other. In terms of actors probably Mark Sheppard who seems to have been in most British TV projects.

  1. What’s your favourite season?

Winter. As I said earlier answering one of Sydney’s questions there’s just something I love about being warm and cosy inside while it’s dark, cold and miserable outside. Plus it’s Christmas.

  1. (I’m going to steal Irena’s question) Share one of your favourite quotes!

“If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember: you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is: even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.”

A.A. Milne

  1. Ahah as I’ve been slowly making my way through your posts for the past two weeks, I am 99% sure The Night Circus has been mentioned in most, if not all of your tags, including the last two parts of this award… 😛 Do not blame you at all though haha The Night Circus is so great and I totally get your love for it! I would so bring my laptop and bed as well!! ❤ SO MUCH is on my laptop (though please tell me there's wifi somewhereeeee) and sleeping is the best thing ever haha. Having magic and adventures is totally my dream as wellllllll *cries* At least we have books to partially satisfy our wishes!

    1. Yeah based on how many times I have mentioned it you can definitely tell that it’s an all-time favourite book of mine. It’s going to be that one book I will use any excuse to talk about! 😀
There wi-fi everywhere nowadays isn’t there? I’m sure there’d be somewhere on a deserted island we could connect our laptops to the internet!
If books are the closest we can get at least we have them yeah! 😀 ❤

  2. I love that you would take your bed, haha!! I’d definitely take my Kindle and iPod and the dogs!! Sometimes, chatting about your learning language helps, and I’ve tried a few methods and tools over the years, don’t hesitate to ask me! I started reimbursing my student loan this month… yikes!

    1. I know where my priorities lie, my bed is definitely one of them, but oh my Kindle, iPod and dog would also be at the top of the list.
I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Learning a language feels like a mountain I’m not quite equipped to climb yet!
It’s a lot of money. Right now I’ve kind of just accepted the fact that I’ll never be able to fully pay it all off! 🙂

  3. Thank you so much for tagging me Beth!! ❤ Really looking forward to answering your questions. They seem likes tons of fun to answer 😀 Of course, I'd love to be part of The Night Circus, too! The food there sounds mind-blowing. And those magic shows! Also, glad to see I'm not the only one obsessed with The Mummy. That movie is just so much fun to watch. I got hooked on iZombie a couple months ago. I binge watched the entire first two seasons within a week. I'm not up to date on this current season, but I plan on marathoning it this weekend to catch up! Ravi is my favorite character, although Liv is freaking amazing, too! And winter is definitely my favorite season. It's when all my favorite spices come out. Also, Christmas lol. Great post! ❤

  4. I love Hawaiian pizza as well, I’m so happy I’m not the onle one ahah. It would be so great to be able to win the lottery and don’t have to worry about money anymore – travel, buy books and everything, that would be pretty great 😀
    Lovely answers 🙂

    1. We need to start a support group for all the lovers of Hawaiian pizza out there. I’m sure there are more of us! God it really would, never having to worry about money again while buying books would be a dream come true!
Thanks so much Marie! 😀 ❤

  5. That card signed by your favourite actor is an amazing gift!! Who’s the actor? Or do you prefer keeping that a secret? Hahahah I’ve been meaning to try iZombie for quite some time now. You’re making me want to give it a shot really soon!! 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. It really was, and probably the best gift I got that year as well! I don’t mind, the actor is Richard Speight Jr. He was in Supernatural which is mine and my friends favourite show. Oh you should definitely watch it Lashaan, it’s an amazing show, I really can’t recommend it enough! 🙂

  6. This was pretty insightful, great to read all your answers! You’ve really met Patrick Ness, wow and I just want to say you have some pretty awesome friends too, with a birthday present like that!! If you like winter (and rain) then Amsterdam is perfect for living ;-). Thanks for the tag, those are really good questions and I’ve got some answers in my head, others are a bit harder.. I’ll let you know when I get to it :-).

    1. Thanks Inge, I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Yeah meeting Patrick Ness was beyond amazing, and I definitely have some awesome friends as well! 🙂 I’m not much of a fan of winter and the rain but I’d be willing to adjust if I could live in Amsterdam, besides it can’t be that much worse from the weather we get in England! 😀
That’s all right, I can’t wait to see your answers for these, and take as much time as you need for it as well. 🙂

  7. You love Hawaiian pizza too!? Seriously, I’ve always said if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be Hawaiian pizza! That pizza is just way too good for its own good and you’re probably the only person I know that likes it. I have a friend who used to always tease me for eating it because she thought it was gross but I say she’s just missing out. 😂 And if I won the lottery I would so pay off student loans and then travel the world too. I would travel and read all day and possibly write. That would be the life! Also, I’m completely with you on wanting to be Lila. If I could be any book character it would be her mainly because she and I are the complete opposite. She’s all confident and reckless and goes for everything and I’m not so I’d love to spend a day in her shoes. Plus, she can do magic! And same about your favorite place to read being your bed. I also fall asleep while reading a lot but reading in bed is the best. And I wish I was able to pick up languages quickly too. I’ve tried learning Japanese and French and while I can read a little French I pretty much failed at both. I just didn’t have the patience, I guess. Though I still really want to learn French. Great answers for this, Beth!! I loved reading them. 😁♥

    1. Yay, another Hawaiian pizza lover! I tell people I enjoy that kind of pizza and they act like it’s the worst crime I could have possibly committed when it comes to Italian food! It really is amazing, and I think other people just don’t know what they’re missing when they say it’s gross. Maybe one day you could convince your friend to try it as well. I’m sure she’d love it if she gave it a try! 🙂
Paying off my student loans is probably a boring option but it’s something I’d have to do before I could enjoy the rest of the money and travelling all over the world. That would definitely be the life!
Lila would be an amazing character to be, plus she has that really strong survival instinct so you know you’d live through anything with her. It really is, plus sometimes I even enjoy dozing a little while reading. Means I’m really relaxed! 😀
Hopefully one day you’ll be able to get back into French, and maybe you’ll be able to pick it up quicker next time around as well. Thanks so much Melissa! 😀 ❤

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Same! Whenever I tell people I love Hawaiian Pizza they either act really grossed out or like I’ve committed the ultimate food crime. But really it’s incredible and people are missing out. I want to think whoever thought it was a great idea to put pineapples on pizza! 😂 And maybe one day, though the one time I tried to get her to try it she flat out refused lol.
Nah I think it’s more responsible than boring. Besides that I would probably pay off my parents house and stuff before I could enjoy just traveling.
Right? Though I think Lila having great survival instincts is due to how much trouble she gets herself in. Kind of like she has to know how to get herself out of it. 😂
        Hopefully!! You’re welcome, Beth! 😁♥

      2. It’s weird how for some reason Hawaiian pizza is considered the worse pizza there is. Personally I find the act of putting anchovies on pizza, or any fish really, to be a horrible crime. One time I came across a pizza with walnuts on, like why would you do that?!
People really are missing out. Maybe if you keep trying with your friend one day you’ll wear her down.
Yeah that’s a good way to look at it, in a way it’s like taking away your worries before travelling, you can probably enjoy it more that way.
She really does! I can imagine she would have got into a lot of trouble before she learnt how to escape it all! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. It really is! And I completely agree about anchovies or any kind of fish on pizza, just ewww. Pineapples on pizza should be normal compared to that. Plus, it works really well flavor wise. Sweet and salty/savory go well together. And walnuts on pizza? I’ve never seen that before but that does seem weird. I mean I could see it if it was a dessert pizza but not a regular one.
I agree and maybe one day!
I can only imagine how Lila was way before she met Kell and found out about magic. You know I wouldn’t mind a prequel series about Lila when she was younger or just a short novella. 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I feel like fish in general is wrong, fish on pizza is so so wrong. There are so many weird pizza toppings you can get if you think about it. I’m still a little unsure of BBQ sauce on pizza, like why would you mess with the classic tomato sauce? It was very weird, and a normal pizza not a dessert one even. I tried it and was really really not a fan, like at all!
That would be interesting to read, but you never know maybe that’s something we get in the ADSOM special edition! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Same! I mean I don’t mind some fish, mostly when it comes to sushi, but most I don’t like at all. And fish on pizza being the biggest no. Funny enough I don’t mind BBQ sauce on pizza. I’ve had a chicken & BBQ sauce pizza before and it was really good. Not as good as pineapple pizza but not bad also. But yeah, there are a lot of weird pizza toppings. I’ve had a buffalo sauce one at one point and it was really odd. 😂
It would be amazing if that was one of the short stories in the ADSOM special edition! I so hope we get something like that. 😁

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Oh I love sushi, but yeah not a fan of other fish at all. In fact I think sushi is pretty much the only fish I do like. I don’t mind BBQ sauce but I still think it’s a little weird, and nothing can beat the classic tomato and cheese combo in my opinion.
I feel like pizza is the type of food everyone will try putting anything on at one point or another. :/
Same here, I’m just super excited for that special edition! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      7. Same and now I want sushi. 😂 Most likely. I mean I’ve also seen a taco pizza at one point. I feel like if it can be made into a topping than someone will try to make it into pizza lol. Which can either work out really well or just be plain terrible.
Me too! The second I have the special edition in my hands I’m going to drop everything to read the extra stories. 😁

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Oh, now you’ve mentioned it I want some too! OK, I think taco pizza is going a little too far. My friend once made a pizza with a cauliflower base and I think that’s too far as well!
I may have to re-review it just so I can talk about the extra stories! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Right? And you’ll never believe what I stumbled across the other day while working. Hot dog pizza! I mean that seems even further than taco pizza and really gross. I knew I had to to tell you about it after I saw it. 😂
I might have to as well. Either that or just do a mini review for the extra stories just because. 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      10. OK, yeah hot dog pizza is quite weird. It seems like people are trying to come up with more and more weird combinations forgetting that normal pizza works so well you don’t need to change it like this!
Mini reviews would work well, I do that for extra stories more often than not. 🙂

      11. Hey Beth, just letting you know that for some weird reason it’s not showing a comment box on your May Recap. 😶 I went to comment but can’t. I’m thinking a weird WP glitch because I’ve noticed it happening on a few blogs lately. But I wanted to say good luck with your new job and I can’t wait to see whatever new feature you’re revealing in June. 💕😃

  8. Beth!! You sound like quite the daydreamer with the three characters you chose in the first part of the tag but I definitely don’t blame you. Which reminds me that I need to pick up Cress soon lol.
I would also love to go through the tents at The Night Circus. I love that book and that particular circus fascinates me. It’s so beautiful and magical!
I definitely would love to go to Amsterdam, it’s so cool that you see yourself living there one day. I also really need to get to the ADSOM series by Schwab this year!!!

    1. I really am a daydreamer. The amount of times I’ve been caught in my own imagination when I should have been working is countless! 😀 Oh yes, you definitely need to read Cress, it’s an amazing book and she’s an amazing character.
God that would be amazing wouldn’t it? It sounded like such an unforgettable experience in the book imagine what it would be like if we could see it in real life! 😀
I really can, it’s such a beautiful city. Oh yes, definitely read that series Gretchen, it’s one of my all-tone favourites so I recommend it to pretty much everyone! 🙂

  10. Ooh, those questions are awesome! Even though you borrowed most of them haha. Thanks so much for nominating me! 😀 ❤ Winter is my favorite season too! There's something about just curling up with a blanket and socks, and reading a good ol' book. Although in Texas it never snows, which is sad. XD

I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKE PJO! Percy and Annabeth will always be my favorite characters of that series. Also their ship will always be my favorite ship (of that series). PERCABETHHHHHHH. ❤ XD

And wow! I'm in awe of how you're keeping track of your tags and awards. I'm just like THANKS FOR NOMINATING ME and then I forget who nominated me for what. XD I probably should write it down somewhere… 😛

    1. Yeah, I figured I got nominated by a fair few people and asked some amazing questions I wanted to feature my favourites. That’s all right. I’ll be looking forwards to seeing your answers for this tag May! 😀 Oh that is a shame, but at least you get to curl up with a good book while it’s cold outside. 🙂
Yes I love PJO, I’m on the last book of the Heroes of Olympus series now and it is AMAZING! Also Percabeth are one of my OTPs as well for sure! ❤
Ha, I tried remembering them off the top of my head but that stopped working very quickly. Then I had to start writing them down or I would have forgot them all! It really does help having a list somewhere! 😀

      1. I did a big Sunshine Award round-up sometime ago, but I’ll definitely save this for a future time! And haha, I thought Blood of Olympus wasn’t as good as the other books! I think my favorite of that series would have to be Mark of Athena. YAS PERCABETH.

      2. There always seem to be a lot of Sunshine Award nominations floating around, why I had to break this one into three separate posts!
Oh so far I’ve pretty much loved everything Rick Riordan has written. I’d say The House of Hades is my favourite so far though. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Everyone has different opinions on books so maybe not. Then again with books I love I’m always eager to re-read them so maybe your mind is trying to tell you something! 😀
I just loved every single page of the whole series! 😀

  11. Thank you so much for tagging me! Your questions are so fun (I liked that you pulled them from the people who tagged you!) and I look forward to answering them… You have the best friends, what a fun gift that you’ll never forget ( even if you were to loose the card!) And I love that you love magical realism so, so much… it seemed to fit the bill for many of the questions, I’ve added a couple to my TBR! And no book boyfriends! I love that… probably because I don’t do that either…

    1. That’s all right, and yeah I was asked some amazing questions so I wanted to feature some of my favourites. I look forwards to seeing your answers for the ones I set as well! 🙂
I’ll definitely never forget that gift, and yeah they’re pretty amazing friends as well so I’m very lucky when it comes down to it. Oh that’s great to hear, magical realism is an amazing genre so I hope you enjoy the books you’ve added to your TBR list.
Nope, I may love plenty of characters from books but no book boyfriends. 😀
