Waiting on Wednesday: Wild Beauty

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which shines a light on eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

I stopped posting the Waiting on Wednesday feature on my blog last November and I’m not going to be starting it up again, like I said back then two features a week is more than enough for me, but when I saw this book had a cover and blurb on Goodreads I couldn’t resist. This is a book by one of my favourite authors, from one of my favourite genres, and it has a beyond gorgeous cover.

This week my pick is;

Wild Beauty

Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends

Release Date: 3rd October 2017

Goodreads

Love grows such strange things.

Anna-Marie McLemore’s debut novel The Weight of Feathers garnered fabulous reviews and was a finalist for the prestigious YALSA Morris Award, and her second novel, When the Moon was Ours, was longlisted for the 2016 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. Now, in Wild Beauty, McLemore introduces a spellbinding setting and two characters who are drawn together by fate—and pulled apart by reality.

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

Having read and loved both The Weight of Feathers and When the Moon Was Ours saying my expectations for Wild Beauty are high feels like a massive understatement. Anna-Marie McLemore has become one of my favourite authors, and my favourite magical realism author so I am so excited to get my hands on this new release of hers.

So what does everyone think; is Wild Beauty a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?

    1. Well it was because I featured The Weight of Feathers that I even discovered the cover had been released for this book, and it just seemed like a perfect opportunity.
Well if the story is anywhere near as amazing as the cover is I’m sure I will. Thanks Lashaan! 😀

  1. I’m unsure about whether I want to add this book to my TBR – I really wanted to love MOON by the author, but I guess I’m just really iffy about magical realism in general. The cover for this is STUNNING though, and it sounds really lovely, so maybe I’ll give it a go. :3

    1. Oh that’s a shame about When the Moon Was Ours but I guess if you’re not a fan of magical realism in general Anna-Marie McLemore may not be the best author for you you know?
Either way if you do decide to pick this book up I hope you like it. 🙂

    1. It’s definitely one of the most gorgeous covers I’ve seen, and based on how good her previous two books have been I have really high hopes for this one as well.

  3. I swear I’m going to have to binge all of Anna-Marie McLemore’s books this year! I can’t believe I still haven’t gotten around to her other two books. Although, you know I’m making them a priority for this year. I actually added this one to my TBR the second I saw the cover and read the synopsis because it sounds like it’s going to be good. Great pick, Beth!! 😊💕

    1. You really need to. They’re all amazing books (not that I’m biased or anything having loved them myself!) and I think you’ll really enjoy them as well Melissa.
You have until October before this one is released so plenty of time to get around to her other two. It sounds like it’s going to be amazing, and thanks Melissa! 😀 ❤

    1. Same here actually, and I did the same thing when I saw the cover, I knew I just had to feature it on my blog despite not having posted a WoW post for around five/six months.
I’m sure this one will be amazing, especially if When the Moon Was Ours is anything to go by! 😀 ❤

    1. It is isn’t it? I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and seeing the cover just makes me more excited for the release date.
I think even if you don’t read much magical realism there’s still something to like about Anna-Marie McLemore’s books. I hope you do decide to pick one up one day! 🙂
