13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough
I was dead for 13 minutes.
I don’t remember how I ended up in the icy water but I do know this—it wasn’t an accident and I wasn’t suicidal.
They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but when you’re a teenage girl, it’s hard to tell them apart. My friends love me, I’m sure of it. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t try to kill me. Does it?
I haven’t read many crime/psychological thrillers, in fact I think this is the first and only book from that genre that I’ve picked up, but 13 Minutes was a brilliant read and I’d love to someday get around to more books like it. As I read I was constantly trying to put together all the pieces of the story the same way Tasha and Becca were. I ended up being completely wrong about what was happening and who was behind the it all more than once, but this book had me on the edge of my seat constantly guessing. I was always asking for five more minutes, just to finish the next chapter, then the chapter after that, and the chapter after that.
“Tasha had died in that freezing water. Tasha was the one who was lucky to be resuscitated. And it was Tasha who was faced with the truth that maybe her two best friends had something to do with it.”

What did you think of 13 Minutes? Have you read it yet or is it still on your to-read list? Let me know in the comments and let me know if you took part in this week’s Standalone Sunday as well.
I think I remember Sammie mentioning this one a while back! The premise sounds extremely promising, especially since I love me a murder mystery here and there. It’s so fun to try to piece some mysteries together! I’ll definitely have to add this one to my TBR! Thanks for sharing, Beth! ❤

Oh it’s an amazing premise, and amazing written as well. I was constantly trying to guess what was happening, who was behind what, and this book kept me guessing until the very end.
That’s all right, I really hope you enjoy this one when/if you pick it up. 🙂 ❤

I haven’t heard of this book before, but I’m definitely adding it to my TBR, it sounds amazing. ❤ I haven’t read a thriller in a very long time aha, I couldn’t remember a title if I tried. But I want to try this one someday! Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh it’s a great book Analee, and I’m glad my post managed to convince you to add it to your to-read list! 🙂
If you’re looking for a new thriller I’d highly recommend this book. I haven’t read any of Sarah Pinborough’s other books but there are plenty of amazing reviews for them.
That’s all right! 😀 ❤

Ohhh, that one sounds interesting – I never heard about it before! I’m not much into thrillers, well, I don’t read a lot of that genre but I do like to try one out once in a while, so maybe I will try that one 🙂

It’s definitely an interesting book, and I’m not normally into thrillers but this was a great one so it comes highly recommended from me! 😀 It will likely hook you on the genre like it did me! 🙂

I’ve had this on my TBR for an age!!

First and only psychological thriller! We must mend to that immediately! 😀 It sounds like you had a blast with this particular one, there must be plenty of other stories out there with the same vibe that would keep you hooked till the end! 😛

I do have a few others on my to-read list still. I guess I just haven’t managed to get around to them yet. But yes this was amazing and I’m sure there are plenty of others just as amazing. Now I need to actually get around to them! 😀

I actually have this one on my TBR even though I don’t remember adding it (this happens way too often 😂). Anyway! I really like the sound of this book. I’ve not read a lot of psychological thrillers either but I love it when a book can put you on the edge of your seat and surprise you.
I didn’t get to do Standalone Sunday this week but I was going to recommend a thriller too, Last Seen Leaving. Great minds think alike! 🙈
I’ll definitely have move this one up my TBR at some point. Great pick for this week, Beth!! 💕

I have a few books in my to-read like that as well. Still maybe now you’ve found it on there you’ll be able to get around to it soon-ish? It’s a good book, and given I’m not normally a fan of thrillers like this I think that’s saying something! 🙂
Ohh, Last Seen Leaving is one I need to get around to soon. That’s one I forgot was on my to-read list as well! 🙂
Thanks Melissa! 😀 ❤

I’m pretty sure my TBR motto is ‘so many books on her list that she forgets half of them’. 🤦😂
But yes I’ll have to move it up my list. I know I want to get around to a few thrillers during October so possibly then if I have the chance. It sounds like a great book and I’m not normally a thriller fan either so since you like it I have a feeling I will too. 😊
You should so read Last Seen Leaving! It’s kind of normal contemporary mixed with a thriller, if that makes sense. It’s really good.
You’re welcome, Beth!! 😁💕

That’s probably mine as well. Half of my TBR list is in my head and it’s almost too easy for me to forget things that I try and remember that way.
Thriller October, sounds like a good plan, either way if you do get around to this book I’m sure you’ll love it.
I’m actually going to try and get around to Last Seen Leaving before the end of this month. I have it on my Kindle ready to go, just a few books I need to read first! 😀

Mine’s completely on goodreads but even then I’ll add a book and then go to add it again several times. I really need to go through it one of these days. 😂
Always need some creepy or suspenseful reads around Halloween! My reads for last year didn’t work out so well but I blame that on the Six of Crows induced reading slump I was in.
Yay! If you do end up getting around to it this month I hope you enjoy it. 😁♥

Once I create my Goodreads profile I will have my TBR list there, and probably forget half the books that are currently sitting in my head.
Ohh, in terms of creepy reads I would recommend Slasher Girls Monster Boys. It’s a novella collection; completely amazing and definitely creepy enough for a Halloween read! 🙂

I’ll definitely have to look that one! I can never get enough Halloween reads. 😁

In that case I think you’ll love that one! 😀

This sounds amazing! I enjoy the occasional thriller but I don’t think I’ve heard of this one before. Once I finish my review books I might try to get into thrillers – I’ve not been in the mood to read my usual SFF genres and need something just a bit more fast-paced and gripping. 🙂

It’s a great book and one I’d highly recommend as well. It made me want to pick up more thriller reads, and one day I will for sure! 😀
I think you’d really enjoy this one in that case Reg, sounds like it would be a nice change from your usual genres if they’re not catching your attention at the moment. 🙂

I just Googled this and I think it’s being made into a Netflix movie? All the more reason to pick it up. Thanks, Beth. 😉

Ohh, I had no idea about that. I need to go Google it myself now, and maybe sign up for a Netflix account while I’m at it! 😀

Oooh this looks good!!! I’m not much of a thriller reader but I’ll give it a go!!

It’s a great book, and I loved it despite not be much of a thriller reader either so it’s one I’d definitely recommend. 🙂

Another one I haven’t heard of! But I have heard of this author and also hear many people say they like her books. That’s my sign I should read this! I love thrillers and you should definitely read more of them! 😊 Thanks, Beth, for the recommendation.

This is definitely one of the more obscure standalones I’ve reviewed on my blog. I’ve heard some good things about Behind Her Eyes, and if it’s anything like 13 Minutes I’m sure it’s amazing as well.
That’s all right, I hope you enjoy this one when you pick it up Megan! 🙂

I have this one in my TBR! I loved her adult thriller, Behind Her Eyes, and this one sounds just as awesome!

I haven’t read Behind Her Eyes yet but I’ve seen some good reviews for it, and if it’s anything like this one I’ll probably love it too. I hope you enjoy this book when you get around to it Mikaela. 🙂
