February Recap

February is such a short month that it always feels like it’s barely started before it’s over again, but maybe that’s just me. The first two weeks of this month were a bit hit and miss when it came to my blogging schedule, but now I’m back on track, and while I didn’t manage to get as many books read as I would have liked we’ll blame that on the fact that this month is shorter than the others rather than my poor planning.

Still I feel like this was a productive month for me; I published my first discussion post, with others to come, and even received my first physical ARC from a publisher which was very exciting. All in all my 2017 is off to a great start so here’s hoping it continues that way.

Books I Reviewed

RoseBlood by A.G. Howard

This book was not as good as I expected it to be. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I’d read the original Phantom of the Opera story but as is I was just left disappointed by RoseBlood.

The Sin-Eater’s Daughter Series

The Sin-Eater’s Daughter  was a re-read for me, one I enjoyed just as much the second time around, in preparation for starting The Sleeping Prince which, if anything, was even better than the first.

By Your Side by Kasie West

While By Your Side isn’t my favourite Kasie West book it was still an amazing read. Fluffy and light it was the perfect book to spend an afternoon with, which is what I’ve come to expect from her.

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

This book deals with some very real and heartbreaking issues, it was incredibly written and nothing important was brushed under the rug or forgotten about. Adam Silvera is just an incredible author.

The Girl at Midnight Series

The Girl at Midnight was another re-read for me so I could start the second book and know what was going on. Again this was a series I enjoyed just as much the second time as I did the first.

ARC Review: The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon

This had to be one of my most anticipated books of the year so of course I was bound to love it. The Song Rising is a brilliant addition to my favourite series, the only issue I have is the (unbearable) wait for the fourth book.

Despite all appearances to the contrary this isn’t actually a lot of books for me this month, and I didn’t even spend too much on them. I managed to get the whole of The Young Elites series for £6, and four books were in a buy one get one half price deal at Waterstones which saved me a fair bit of money. In terms of managing my book buying better this year I’m not off to a bad start.

So far I have yet to get through all the books in one of my monthly TBR lists, but I have a good feeling about next months. Wires and Nerve, The Scarecrow Queen and A Conjuring of Light are all highly anticipated releases of mine that I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to sooner, and The Night Circus is an all-time favourite so I should be able to fit them all in next month.
