Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite YA Book Covers; UK Edition Vs. US Edition

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is an all about visuals freebie, and while it was supposed to be about graphic novels I haven’t read nearly enough to make a list so I picked Top Ten Favourite YA Book Covers; UK Edition Vs. US Edition instead.

For reasons, unbeknownst to most of us, sometimes there are different covers for the UK edition and the US edition of the same book. While with most of the books I own I have been more than happy with the UK cover there are still a few where I’ve looked on at the copies people in the US have brought and gotten very jealous. There have even been a couple of very rare occasions where I’ve gone onto the US Amazon site and paid the extra shipping just to get the US covers, but that’s very rare.

A Million Worlds With You

A Million Worlds With You

Title: A Million Worlds With You

Author: Claudia Grey

Series: Firebird, #3

Publisher: Harper Teen

Release Date: November 1st 2016

Five Stars

A million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the centre of a cross-dimensional feud since she first travelled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

In the conclusion to Claudia Gray’s Firebird trilogy, fate and family will be questioned, loves will be won and lost, and the multiverse will be forever changed. It’s a battle of the Marguerites…and only one can win.

The Happiness Tag

I like to think I’m a generally happy person. I mean I have my down days, doesn’t everyone, but compare the me of today to me the me of three years ago and I can admit I am so much happier now than I was then. I was tagged by Izzi at Ravenclaw Book Club. Thanks so much for the tag Izzi, I had a lot of fun with this one and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much.

No rules for this one, it’s just a couple of lists of things that make me happy.

This is not about blood or love. This is about treason.

Stripped of her powers and her identity, and torn from the man she loves, Amani must return to her desert-girl’s instinct for survival. For the Sultan’s palace is a dangerous one, and the harem is a viper’s nest of suspicion, fear and intrigue. Just the right place for a spy to thrive…But spying is a dangerous game, and when ghosts from Amani’s past emerge to haunt her, she begins to wonder if she can trust her own treacherous heart.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Bookish Blogging Goals for 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. It was a free pick this week so I chose; Top Ten Bookish Blogging Goals for 2017.

This time last year(ish) one of the Top Ten Tuesday topics I took part in was Top Ten Resolutions I Have for 2016, so for this week’s free pick I thought it would be interesting to go back and see what resolutions I managed to keep, what ones I broke, and what ones I can work towards for 2017. I’ve never been good at keeping resolutions, most of the time I end up breaking them before January is halfway done, which is why I’ve decided to set goals rather than resolutions. That way maybe I can trick myself to keeping more this year than I did last.

ARC Review: Wintersong

Title: Wintersong

Author: S. Jae-Jones

Series: N/A

Publisher: Thomas Dunne

Release Date: February 7th 2017

Three Stars

Beware the goblin men and the wares they sell.

All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favour of more practical concerns.

But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.

Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.
