Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to for the First Half of 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to for the First Half of 2017.

There are so many amazing books being released next year. Some of my favourite series, favourite duologies, are coming to an end and I can’t wait to see how things tie up for my favourite characters. Not to mention there are some beyond amazing debut novels being released which I have been so excited for since they were announced. This list could have gone on forever, I had more than ten books I could have picked but I kept it to the best of the best.

Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken
Release Date: 3rd January 2017

As far as time travel books go Passenger was one of the best I’ve read, and one of my favourite reads of 2016. There are a few mixed reviews out there but personally I loved it, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the second, and last book, of the duology.

All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected—Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.

Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travellers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realizes that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.

As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognizable…and might just run out on both of them.

By Your Side by Kasie West
Release Date: 31st January 2017

I binge read all of Kasie West’s YA contemporary books and she has now become a favourite author of mine. There are two new releases from her next year but I think I am more excited for By Your Side than Lucky in Love, I’m definitely interested in the concept of two characters being trapped in a library overnight.

In this irresistible story, Kasie West explores the timeless question of what to do when you fall for the person you least expect. Witty and romantic, this paperback original from a fan favourite is perfect for fans of Stephanie Perkins and Morgan Matson.

When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumours about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

Wires and Nerves, Volume 1 by Marissa Meyer
Release Date: 31st January 2017

When it comes to favourite series of mine The Lunar Chronicles is one of the ones at the top. I have read everything Marissa Meyer has released to date and now I am eagerly awaiting the release of this book. I’m so excited to see more from Iko and the rest of the Rampion crew.

In her first graphic novel, #1 New York Times and USA Today bestseller Marissa Meyer follows Iko, the beloved android from the Lunar Chronicles, on a dangerous and romantic new adventure—with a little help from Cinder and the Lunar team.

In her first graphic novel, bestselling author Marissa Meyer extends the world of the Lunar Chronicles with a brand-new, action-packed story about Iko, the android with a heart of (mechanized) gold. When rogue packs of wolf-hybrid soldiers threaten the tenuous peace alliance between Earth and Luna, Iko takes it upon herself to hunt down the soldiers’ leader. She is soon working with a handsome royal guard who forces her to question everything she knows about love, loyalty, and her own humanity. With appearances by Cinder and the rest of the Rampion crew, this is a must-have for fans of the bestselling series.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab
Release Date: 28th February 2017

Chances are everyone who follows me knows how much I love this series and how badly I need this book right now. After the ending to A Gathering of Shadows I have been desperate to find out what happens to Kell, Lila and Rhy. A year is too long to wait, and February still seems so far away.

The battle between four magical London’s comes to a head in this stunning finale to the New York Times bestselling Shades of Magic trilogy by rising star V. E. Schwab

London’s fall and kingdoms rise while darkness sweeps the Maresh Empire—and the fraught balance of magic blossoms into dangerous territory while heroes and foes struggle alike. The direct sequel to A Gathering of Shadows, and the final book in the Shades of Magic epic fantasy series, A Conjuring of Light sees Schwab reach a thrilling culmination concerning the fate of beloved protagonists—and old enemies.

The Ship Beyond Time by Heidi Heilig
Release Date: 28th February 2017

Another amazing time travel duology that became a favourite read of mine in 2016. The concept behind the way Nix and her father travelled was so unique and well written, and it came together with the characters to create an unforgettable story. I’m sure The Ship Beyond Time will be just as amazing.

The breathtaking sequel to the acclaimed The Girl from Everywhere. Nix has escaped her past, but when the person she loves most is at risk, even the daughter of a time traveller may not be able to outrun her fate—no matter where she goes. Fans of Rae Carson, Alexandra Bracken, and Outlander will fall hard for Heidi Heilig’s sweeping fantasy.

Nix has spent her whole life journeying to places both real and imagined aboard her time-travelling father’s ship. And now it’s finally time for her to take the helm. Her father has given up his obsession to save her mother – and possibly erase Nix’s existence – and Nix’s future lies bright before her. Until she learns that she is destined to lose the one she loves. But her relationship with Kash – best friend, thief, charmer extraordinaire – is only just beginning. How can she bear to lose him? How can she bear to become as adrift and alone as her father?

Desperate to change her fate, Nix takes her crew to a mythical utopia to meet another Navigator who promises to teach her how to manipulate time. But everything in this utopia is constantly changing, and nothing is what it seems—not even her relationship with Kash. Nix must grapple with whether anyone can escape her destiny, her history, her choices. Heidi Heilig weaves fantasy, history, and romance together to tackle questions of free will, fate, and what it means to love another person. But at the centre of this adventure are the extraordinary, multifaceted, and multicultural characters that leap off the page, and an intricate, recognizable world that has no bounds. The sequel – and conclusion – to the indie darling The Girl from Everywhere will be devoured by fans of Rachel Hartman and Maggie Stiefvater. Includes black-and-white maps.

The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon
Release Date: 7th March 2017

The Bone Season is an all-time favourite series of mine; the two books that have been released are amazing, and I have high hopes for the third and the rest of the series as well. There is so much I want to see happening, so much I think will happen, and so much I think will end up breaking my heart.

Following a bloody battle against foes on every side, Paige Mahoney has risen to the dangerous position of Underqueen, ruling over London’s criminal population.

But, having turned her back on Jaxon Hall and with vengeful enemies still at large, the task of stabilizing the fractured underworld has never seemed so challenging.

Little does Paige know that her reign may be cut short by the introduction of Senshield, a deadly technology that spells doom for the clairvoyant community and the world as they know it…

Hunted by Meagan Spooner
Release Date: 14th March 2017

I’ve never read a book by Meagan Spooner on her own before, but I loved her Starbound series which was written with Amie Kaufman so I have high hopes for Hunted. Plus it’s a fairytale retelling of Beauty and the Beast so I feel like I’m bound to love it.

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Release Date: 28th March 2017

Laini Taylor’s first series was incredible, so I have been eagerly awaiting her releasing a new book ever since I finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters. Strange the Dreamer already has so much hype surrounding it but as it’s being written by Laini Taylor I know it’s going to live up to it.

A new epic fantasy by National Book Award finalist and New York Times bestselling author Laini Taylor of the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy.

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around—and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance to lose his dream forever.

What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?

The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries—including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? and if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?

In this sweeping and breathtaking new novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.

Welcome to Weep.

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi
Release Date: 28th March 2017

The Star-Touched Queen is one of my top reads of 2016, everything about this book was beautiful; the writing, the character’s the world-building. I thought it was a standalone so when it was announced there was a companion novel being released it jumped to the top of my to-read list.

Gauri, the princess of Bharata, has been taken as a prisoner of war by her kingdom’s enemies. Faced with a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. Hope unexpectedly comes in the form of Vikram, the cunning prince of a neighbouring land and her sworn enemy kingdom. Unsatisfied with becoming a mere puppet king, Vikram offers Gauri a chance to win back her kingdom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together, they’ll have to set aside their differences and team up to win the Tournament of Wishes—a competition held in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor.

Reaching the tournament is just the beginning. Once they arrive, danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans and mischievous story birds, a feast of fears and twisted fairy revels.

Every which way they turn new trials will test their wit and strength. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab
Release Date: 13th June 2017

I feel the fact that there are two books by V.E. Schwab on my list this week just goes to show how much I love her work. While This Savage Song isn’t my favourite of her book, that honour goes to the Shades of Magic series, it was still a great read and I am still so excited to get my hands on this one.

Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human, no matter how much he once yearned for it. He’s a monster with a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.

Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows – one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons – it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.

So what do you think? Did you take part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, if so let me know who some of your new favourite authors whose work you read for the first time in 2016 are.

  1. Omg…love this list!
Hey, question for you: I had a choice between picking Holding Up The Universe or A Shadow Bright and Burning to review…it didn’t click for me that A Shadow Bright and Burning was on the list until AFTER I requested Holding Up The Universe. You know I’m not much of a contemporary reader, but the description sounded interesting. Now I can’t switch my pick bc the other book is gone.
Do you think I made a stupid choice? I’m currently kicking myself because I have the library book of A Shadow but I don’t own it. And I haven’t read either. I love fantasy and I feel like I chose wrong. What do you think? I value your opinion even though it’s too late for me to do anything aboht it.

    1. Thanks so much Stephanie. 😀
Also no I don’t think you made a stupid choice. I know you read mostly fantasy but when I started my blog I was the same, pretty much all my early reviews were fantasy or one of the sub genres, but then I started picking up YA contemporary as well and I really did enjoy that genre just as much. There’s nothing to say you only have to stick to one genre, and this may start your love of the YA contemporary genre. I think of all the books you could have picked up this was a great one. The story is interesting and the characters themselves are amazing, some of the best I’ve read in this genre. Besides I’m sure you’ll be able to get your hands on A Shadow Bright and Burning at some point. 🙂

      1. Thank you! You made me feel much better, lol. Honestly, there are only two other ppl I told about it, and they both said they wouldn’t have chosen Holding Up The Universe, which made me feel like an idiot. But I know we have such similar tastes that I trust your opinion and the description sounded good. 😉

        Liked by 1 person

      2. That’s more than all right, I’m always here if you need me for any reason! 😀
Oh that is a shame, but here’s hoping it’s a good book for you and one you’ll end up enjoying a lot. Also, hopefully we’ll have the same tastes when it comes to YA contemporary as well. 😀 You’ll have to let me know what you think of this book Stephanie! 🙂

  2. Great list! I can’t wait for A Conjuring of Light either! This trilogy is just SO good! I heard that Marissa Meyer was releasing a new book, although I had no idea what it was about! So it’s about characters from her Lunar Chronicles, I’ll probably end up reading that too! 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much Meghan. ❤ A Conjuring of Light is my most anticipated release for next year because that trilogy is at the top of my favourite books list at the moment! The ending to A Gathering of Shadows just left me desperate for the next book. 😀
I think she has a couple of books out next year but Wires and Nerves is the one I'm most excited for, just because The Lunar Chronicles you know?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. It’s been such a long wait. I know A Conjuring of Light will be worth the wait but at the same time it’s just too long.
I could be wrong, honestly there are so many books I want that are being released next year I feel like I may be mixing them up in my head! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Haha I know the feeling! I’ve been trying to get all the books I want to read next year organized, but there are just so many coming out that it’s hard to keep track. I have a bunch yet in my calendar to somewhat help me! 😝

        Liked by 1 person

      3. I haven’t even got that far so you’re ahead of me. Normally I keep a track in my head but I always forget one or two so I end up browsing the shelves at my local bookstore and finding some of the books I’ve been eagerly anticipating that I had no clue were even out yet! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

  3. The Song Rising!! You already know how excited I am for that one 😂. Although, I pre-ordered the special edition a while back and according to Amazon’s estimate I won’t get it until nearly the end of March. I’m also really excited for By Your Side, Hunted, and Strange the Dreamer. Especially By Your Side after how much I loved P.S. I Like You. I love the whole concept of being stuck in a library haha. So many great picks, Beth. Also, several series that I have yet to start but need to. 🙈

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes, I would sell my soul for a copy of that book in my hands right now, (well, maybe not my soul but I would give anything within reason!) It’s the same for me actually, my copy won’t be arriving until the middle of March and it’s just, why is it taking that long to dispatch and arrive when we’ve pre-ordered!
Hunted and Strange the Dreamer sound amazing! And I am certainly looking forwards to more Kasie West books. I’ve gone through all the YA contemporary books she has released so far and I need my next fix! 😀
Ohh, are you planning on picking up any of these series soon maybe?!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I actually got approved for an ARC of it on NetGalley and I so wish I could share it with you 😢. They still don’t have a UK request up and I don’t get why.
I know right!? Especially since we pre-order so far in advance too. I put mine in the second a link was up. It’s the first time Amazon has ever said I won’t have a pre-order the day of.
I need to read the rest of her contemporaries. That’s one of my many book goals for next year haha.
ADSOM! That one is at the top of my list for next year. I’m waiting until the last book is released and then I plan on binge reading. 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Oh that is amazing Melissa, have you started it yet? If you have I really hope you enjoy it but obviously don’t tell me any of the spoilers. Until I can get my hands on this book I’m pretty much avoiding all mentions of it because I want to go in blind!
Yeah I’ve been keeping an eye out for a UK ARC but none has been posted yet. I’ll keep on hoping though.
I don’t think this is the first time I haven’t had a book the day of it’s release but it seems like for a few books I’ve pre-ordered being released next year I’ll be having to wait a few weeks for their arrival. Kind of makes me think I should go out the day of their release and buy a copy from my bookstore instead.
Definitely the best way to go about it, I wish that’s what I’d done because the cliffhanger in A Gathering of Shadows was unreal! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Nope I haven’t yet. At first I was going to dive straight into it but then I thought about how I wanted to wait until closer to March so I have time to reread the first two. It’s taking all my willpower to not give into the temptation to read it lol. I definitely won’t spoil it for you when I do though. You don’t have to worry. 😊
I really hope they do post one soon. It would be amazing if we could buddy read it.
I wonder if there are so many highly anticipated reads next year that the pre-order volume is really high. It’s weird that it’s showing it’ll take weeks for some books.
At first I was going to read them this year but then someone told me about the cliffhanger so I was all nope I’m waiting. 😂

        Liked by 1 person

      4. That sounds like a good idea! I’m definitely going to need to re-read the first two before going into this one. This is the series I want to make sure I know every little detail of before starting a new book. Nah, I knew you wouldn’t, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for an ARC, it would be great to buddy read it with you because we’ve spent so much time fangirling over it haven’t we?
Who knows? But even if you were you’d think the fact that they were pre-orders means Amazon would have the time to get everything sorted to release the books on time you know?
        Definitely a wise decision! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Same! Especially since it’s been over a year since I last reread both books. I know there are things I don’t remember and if mentioning in the third book I might not pick up on.
It really would be! And then while reading if something crazy happens we can freak out together haha. 😊
That’s true. Either that or it’s so far out that we’re only getting estimated dates at the moment. Maybe they’ll change. One can only hope.

        Liked by 1 person

      6. It will have been about a year since I read both by the time The Song Rising is released I think. I can’t really remember anything I may be missing but I reckon by the time I start re-reading loads of things will have been mentioned I will have forgot about.
I would need someone to freak out with if something crazy did happen! 😀
Who knows, you’d certainly hope that with pre-orders you’d get the book pretty close to the release date, if not on the release date you know?

        Liked by 1 person

      7. I can’t either but I have a feeling it’ll be the same for me. The weird thing is I remember a lot from the first book but I know I’ve forgotten a ton from the second book. But that might be because I reread the first a few times while waiting for the second 😂.
Same! I swear buddy read or not we’re going to have to have a huge discussion about TSR once we both finish it haha.
        Exactly. 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      8. I haven’t actually re-read the first or the second yet. Because they both were already out when I got started I didn’t need to, and I only read them earlier this year so I try not to re-read a book I’ve already read in a year you know? But actually I agree I can remember much more of the details from the first book than I can the second.
Yes we definitely are, we’ve already had huge discussions over it and the book hasn’t even been released yet! 😀

  4. GRAPHIC NOVEL THE LUNAR CHRONICLES IKO WHAT? Wait, what? Okay I might be coming out of a cave or something right now for NOT knowing this, but I’ll run and add it to my TBR right away, I NEED that book! ❤
Also, A Conjuring of Light… I think we can never say how impatient we are about that one.
I'm glad you liked The Girl From Everywhere and Passenger. I still don't know whether or not I'll end up reading one of these books, but…well, maybe someday. Which one of these is your favorite – if you can choose ? 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I don’t think Wires and Nerves has been that well publicised you know? It doesn’t seem to be as out there in the WordPress blogging world as some of her other releases were. Still it’s gonna be amazing. I have it pre-ordered so I can get my hands on it ASAP! 😀 ❤️
Nope, words cannot describe the agony of waiting for ACOL after that cliffhanger; but soon we’ll have it in our hands, we will have read it, and then the struggle will be coming up with the words for our reviews! 😀
Both are great books in my opinion, and there are different things about each which make them so amazing, but if I could only choose one to recommend it would be Passenger. There was just something about it I enjoyed that little bit more. 🙂

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Well then I’m not too out of the loop haha. I added it to my TBR and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’m not used to reading Graphic novels , but hey, it’s IKO. I love her so much!
Oh okay, thank you so, so much! I think if I read one of these, I’ll start with Passenger then 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Nope, definitely not. I didn’t discover it until recently honestly. 🙂 I haven’t read many graphic novels but the ones I have I’ve really enjoyed so hopefully it’ll be the same story with Wires and Nerves.
I hope you enjoy Passenger too Marie. It has got some mixed reviews but I thought it was a brilliant read! 😀

  5. Amazing list! I’m excited about all of them too, but I guess I’m most highly anticipating A Conjuring of Light (because OMG I just finished A Gathering of Shadows and it is SOOO GOOD and I need ACOL so bad now). I’ve also binge-read every Kasie West this year and am super excited for By Your Side and Lucky in Love! And Wires and Nervers because more Iko, yay! 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much, and yeah from the sounds of it most people are highly anticipating that release. It’s been a long wait (I finished AGOS in February) but it’ll be well worth it.
Binge reading was how I read every Kasie West book too, but then there was nothing else I could read she’d released and I swear I went into withdrawal or something. 🙂
More Iko, and hopefully more of the other Lunar Chronicle characters too! I can’t wait. 😀

  6. I can’t wait to get my hands on “The Song Rising”. I was so disappointed when the release date got pushed to 2017 and also when they changed the look of the series but when they announced the Collector’s Edition that matches the first two books the full excitement came back to me! 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I didn’t actually start the series until the end of last year and I think that was after the release date for The Song Rising was pushed back, either way I know how disappointing it is when a books release date is pushed back.
I totally know what you mean about the cover though, that’s one of my biggest pet peeves when a cover design is changed halfway through a series. Here’s hoping they continue to release the Collectors Editions for the remaining books in the series as well! 🙂

  7. Oh man! This is a great list!! I can’t wait to finish the Shades of Magic series, and I am really interested to see what happens with Nix’s story as it continues. I haven’t read many others– I try not to read stories I know are part of a series until the series is complete. Oops!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks so much Jackie! Same here, ACOL is definitely my most anticipated read for next year. I suppose we haven’t got long left until it’s released but it’s still an unbearable wait!
I have high hopes for The Ship Beyond Time, it certainly sounds amazing doesn’t it?
That’s actually a good way to go about things. I wish I could do that because then I wouldn’t have any unbearable waits for the next book in the series! 🙂

      Liked by 1 person

      1. It would be a great way to go about things if I could stick with it! As you can tell, it doesn’t always work. Book clubs are the biggest reason I might not follow my own rules, though. I’ll be rereading Shades of Magic 1 before ACOL comes out. Then I’m just binge read the whole series! 😄It’ll be great fun.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I don’t really join bookclubs or read-a-thons, simply because I’m a mood reader so having a set book to read with a deadline would never work for me. But I get drawn in by the hype of certain books and just can’t resist picking them up! 🙂
I may have to do a re-read before going into the last book. I need to be completely fresh on the events of the last two books to make the most of the third one! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Actually, it’s because I’m a mood reader I try to participate in book clubs and readathons! I find otherwise I’d only read specific genres or authors. This forces me to branch out and try other things, which is sometimes frustrating, but i never gave regret.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. It helps that diversity is so in right now in the blogging world– I definitely use the posts of my blogger friends to help me figure out what to read next. I have found a lot of great books this way!
Keep blogging, and I’ll follow your reading habits! 😀

    1. Thanks so much Lilly! Yeah I feel like anything Marissa Meyer writes connected to The Lunar Chronicles goes to the top of my to-read list, and anything V.E. Schwab writes goes to the top as well, regardless of what it is or what it’s about! 😀
I’d highly recommend The Bone Season, it’s become a favourite series of mine and I am so excited for this third book to be released! 🙂 ❤️

  9. You’ve got so many sequels here! I’m also looking forward to Our Dark Duet and ACOL, but I suppose you know that. 😉

I haven’t read The Bone Season yet but it’s on my TBR. Hopefully I’ll get to it sooner rather than later, especially now that I actually have a copy!

    1. I actually have haven’t I? I guess 2017 will be the year of sequels for me. 🙂
Yep, I think everyone who’s read that series will have A Conjuring of Light on their to-read list somewhere, just because of that ending and how long we’ve been waiting for it! 😀
The Bone Season is really good, another of my favourite series, so I’d highly recommend it, especially if you have a actual copy waiting for you! 😀

  10. AHHHHHHHH! So many sequels for books I haven’t finished yet, I’m trying to speed read as many 2016 releases as possible before the year ends! Definitely want to get to This Savage Song for sure. I’m also SUPER excited for Strange the Dreamer too! 😁

    1. I feel that way about a lot of books as well. My to-read list for the end of year keeps growing and growing and I know I won’t get around to them all but as long as I get around to them before ten next book is released that’s the important thing!
This Savage Song is a great book, and I have really high hopes for Strange the Dreamer at the moment! 🙂
