Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Gift Ideas for Book Lovers

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is a gift inspired freebie, so I picked Top Ten Gift Ideas for Book Lovers.

Christmas is fast approaching now, like seriously fast. How it is less than one month to go now until December 25th?! I love Christmas shopping but constantly feel like I’m either behind on all the gifts I need to buy or that I’ve forgotten someone important, plus there are some people I find it so hard to buy for. Luckily a few of my friends are just as crazy about books as I am so they’re always easy to buy for.

Special or Limited Editions

Everyone loves special or limited editions of their favourite books, not only do they have the stories we know so well but they’re always so beautifully put together.

Bloomsbury for the illustrated Harry Potter books. So far only the Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets have been released but it’s enough to start off a collection. The illustrations are gorgeous and if you have a big budget for you can even go for the deluxe editions.

bloomsbury

Barnes and Noble do collectors editions for many well known classics featuring not just one story but all of them; the complete works of Sherlock Holmes, all of the Grimm Brothers Fairytales, Alice in Wonderland with other short stories by Lewis Carroll, and so many more.

Prints

There are so many places you can buy prints for all kinds of books; the only issue is how to narrow down your choice. Do you go for prints with quotes or prints with art, prints for classic books and prints for YA ones?

Litographs takes the text from well known and popular books, they have a large collection of classic novels but a few modern and YA titles available as well, and uses it to create a print you can purchase as a poster, t-shirt, or a tote bag.

Bags

If there is one thing worse than my book buying habits it’s my handbag buying ones. I have so many despite the fact I tend to use the same bag for months on end, day and night; and don’t even get me started on tote bags.

Krukrustudio create amazing bags that look like actual books. What better way to carry your copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone than in a book that looks exactly like your edition?

Candles

Whoever first thought of combing books and candles together is a genius. Bookish candles are my second favourite thing to receive in the post, the first is obviously books, and what’s more there are so many shops out there all offering unique and amazing smelling candles.

Meraki Candles is a more recent find of mine and a shop based in England, which seems to be a rarity from what I’ve seen so far. Of course they have a few Harry Potter candles (they seem to be everywhere) but there are plenty of others that can  make your home smell more like Cabeswater or the Night Court.

Meraki Candles also do a monthly subscription box, which leads me nicely onto my next topic.

Subscription Boxes

Getting my box each month is like a mini present. I’m always so excited to see what’s in each; both in terms of the book and the bookish goodies. There are a lot of choices out there so if you’re ever stumped for gift ideas you can’t go wrong with a subscription box.

Fairy Loot is the subscription box I have gotten since July, and over the course of the five months I have been subscribed I’ve yet to be disappointed with what’s been in it. The December box is sold out and the theme hasn’t been released for January yet but whatever it is it’s sure to be amazing.

Stationary

I’m not sure if this is a book blogger thing or just a me thing but I am a huge fan of stationary. I have a collection of pretty notebooks and I’m always looking to buy more.

Literary Emporium not only have a collection of book inspired notebooks, offering you the chance to write in your own Harry Potter Potions or Divination workbook, but plenty of pencils engraved with quotes or phrases from classic books to write with.

Literary Emporium 2

Literary Emporium also have a gorgeous selection of jewellery and quote cards, all book inspired of course.

Bookmarks

Although I rarely use bookmarks when reading my books I definitely think there is no better present for a bookworm than a gorgeous bookmark so they can remember where they left off reading their favourite book.

Happy Hello create really cute magnetic bookmarks. They have bookish inspired ones, and TV and film inspired ones. The art style is adorable and you can have your favourite characters mark where you left off in your favourite book.

Behind the Pages do truly beautiful watercolour bookmarks, and there are even opportunities to buy uncoloured ones for people to decorate themselves. There are so many I’ve seen from my favourite series that I want so I know where my next paycheck will be going.

Behind the Pages also do a selection of bookish soaps and lip balms.

Sweets

Has anyone ever had a Christmas where they haven’t received some kind of sweet or chocolate in their stocking? It seems to be a staple and in my opinion the only thing better than chocolate is book inspired chocolate.

Harry Potter Studio Tour has all the sweets made popular by the series; Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, be careful because as the names suggests not all of them are nice flavours, and chocolate frogs, compete with a famous wizard card, Jelly Slugs and Peppermint Toads . It’s a little taste of a Hogwarts for everyone who never got their letter.

    1. Thanks so much Stephanie. There are so many Litograph prints I want, I will definitely be buying some when I next get paid (all my money this month went on Christmas presents!)
The book purses are amazing as well, and perfect for carrying around whatever you’re currently reading as well. 😀

  1. Bookish gifts are just amazing. So many amazing ideas on this list! But I have to say that books will always be the ultimate gift for bookworms for me! Thanks for sharing all these ideas with us, Beth! 😀

    1. They definitely are, and there are so many out there to choose from as well! 😀 But yeah I get where you’re coming from, nothing can beat a book, it’s why that tends to be what I ask for for Christmas more than anything else.
That’s all right, I’m glad you enjoyed this post. 🙂

  2. Oh. My. God. Everything is soooo gorgeous! And I basically want everything you listed! ❤ I adore bookish gifts and you have given me ideas what to buy for some of my friends. Thank you for that! 😀 Great list!

    1. I’m exactly the same, probably why I have such trouble buying Christmas presents because I always end up buying for myself as well! 😀
That’s great to hear, I hope you friends enjoy what you get them, especially if it’s something off this list. ❤
      Thanks Anna.

    1. I buy so many bags and so many notebooks. Definitely a weakness and in a way it’s kind of nice to say that about something other than books! You never know when you’re going to need a new notebook though, or a new bag so I guess we could say we storing up for an emergency. Thanks so much Marie, yeah those notebooks are gorgeous aren’t they? ❤

  3. These are all such good ideas. Every time I think I’m done with thinking of what I want, more things turn up haha! Those book bags really look like books. I actually thought it was a book, it took me a little while to see the bag ha! 😛

    1. Thanks Meghan. Yeah I want pretty much everything on this list, but I know what you mean about always finding more things to want as well! 😀
I love those bags, they really do look like books don’t they? I think it’s the perfect accessory for any bookworm! 🙂

  4. Can I have all of it? *looks at bank* Nope that’s not happening. 😂🙈
This is such a great post, Beth! You already know bookish candles are my favorite. I swear I have the worst addiction and I ended up going crazy when In The Wick Of Time had their Black Friday sale. As far as book candles go theirs are usually on the pricey side but with that sale it was perfect. Also, how did I never know you could buy Harry Potter sweets online? We used to have a store here that sold some but it’s gone now and I’m officially going to be pointing my mom in the direction of that site in the future haha. I so wish I could get a Fairy Loot subscription! That box is always gorgeous. I can’t wait to see whatever they end up doing for December! 😊

    1. That’s how I feel. Both in terms of wanting everything and having a bank account that doesn’t let me!
Thanks so much Melissa. Oh I love bookish candles. I don’t have any at the moment, I need to order some more when I get paid, so I’m using my normal candles now and it’s just not the same. I haven’t heard of In the Wick of Time but I’m guessing they’re a US company right. Meraki Candles is UK and as such the shipping isn’t too much for me.
Yeah you can get them online, I haven’t before simply because there is a shop near where I work which sells them so if I ever have a craving I can go there, but oh that sucks about your shop. Maybe there’ll be one that opens up again in the future or something.
Definitely gorgeous, and same here. I’m counting down the days until my box is dispatched and I have it in my hands! 😀

      1. You’re welcome, Beth! 💕
Yep, it’s a US company. I’ve heard of Meraki Candles! Everyone raves about them so much and their candles look amazing. I bet they smell just as great too. Sadly, I can’t order from them because of shipping for me. If only international shipping was less. It makes so many inexpensive things expensive.
I hope so! I’m tempted to search online to see if there is an online US shop that sells them. 😊

      2. I’m the same but from the other side. I had to search literally everywhere before I found Meraki Candles because the international shipping to England was so expensive. The one I got in a previous Fairy Loot box was amazing though, I will be ordering from them again.
I would spend so much more money on bookish goodies if the shipping wasn’t so much.
There’s bound to be somewhere that does. I hope you find them! 😀

      3. Well I’m glad you found a bookish candle shop that’s based where you’re able to afford the shipping. 😊
Funny enough, or possibly not, most of the bookish places I know of are either based in the UK or Australia. Aside from the US candle shops every other one I know of isn’t 😂. Like that one shop that does the magnetized bookmarks that are so cute? I’d love to order from them one day but can’t justify shipping that’s more than the product.
I actually found some on Amazon! And then universal studios has an online shop with a few. 😊

      4. Same here, if not I would have had to spend the same amount on shipping as I would be on candles and that is never a good thing is it?
That is weird because I seem to almost be the other way around. I can’t think of any off the top of my head but whenever I’m looking at products on Etsy they’re always US based.
Ohh, that’s great, and hopefully shipping will be less expensive from there as well! 😀

      5. Nope. Sometimes I wonder if it’s an Etsy thing. So many different places have a lot of different shipping prices but Etsy’s seem to be the highest. I’ve purchased from Amazon UK a few times and the shipping wasn’t cheap but was always cheaper than the product.
Yep 😊! Shipping is way less but the product is a tad more expensive lol.

      6. God knows. I guess if they’re handmade items like a lot of the stuff on Etsy is they may need to be packaged differently. Honestly who knows but until the prices are lowered I’ll stick to UK stores instead!
I purchase on Amazon US every so often, and yeah normally the shipping is worth it when compared to what you’re buying! 🙂

  5. Ugggh this list is just EVERYTHING. Those prints made my jaw drop and I love the bookmarks too. I’m desperate to get a subscription box in the New Year and FairyLoot was one of my options, how do you find it? I got my sister some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans from the Studios last year and she liked them a lot. So did my Dad, who I’m pretty sure ate half the pack! Great post as usual 🙂

    1. It’s pretty much my wishlist of things I want and things I will be buying at some point as well.
I already have one of those prints, an Alice in Wonderland one, but there are so many more I want as well. I LOVE Fairy Loot, seriously getting it every month is like a mini present for myself. I think you’ll love it as well Kate.
I tried the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans as well, some were nice but the bad flavours were really not!
      Thanks Kate. 😀

      1. My sister also has an Alice in Wonderland print and it’s so pretty! Aww man, you’ve made me want to get the Fairy Loot subscription even more now! I might treat myself when I get home, or if any of my family asks what I want for Christmas I’ll suggest that. 😀

      2. Well in that case I guess that’s a happy coincidence, though if there was a book whose character shared my name I’d love it as well! I’m definitely excited for my December box, and every box that will come after that one! It’s well worth looking into. 🙂

    1. Same here, I feel like I could have called this post Top Ten Gifts I Plan on Buying for Myself Soon! The prints are gorgeous, I already have one but there are so many others I want as well.
Everyone on here wants all the books I think, but thanks for the link. I’ll definitely check out your TTT! 😀
