Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which shines a light on eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.
This week my pick is;
A Million Junes by Emily Henry
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: 16th May 2017
Romeo and Juliet meets One Hundred Years of Solitude in Emily Henry’s brilliant follow-up to The Love That Split the World, about the daughter and son of two long-feuding families who fall in love while trying to uncover the truth about the strange magic and harrowing curse that has plagued their bloodlines for generations.
In their hometown of Five Fingers, Michigan, the O’Donnells and the Angerts have mythic legacies. But for all the tall tales they weave, both founding families are tight-lipped about what caused the century-old rift between them, except to say it began with a cherry tree.
Eighteen-year-old Jack “June” O’Donnell doesn’t need a better reason than that. She’s an O’Donnell to her core, just like her late father was, and O’Donnells stay away from Angerts. Period.
But when Saul Angert, the son of June’s father’s mortal enemy, returns to town after three mysterious years away, June can’t seem to avoid him. Soon the unthinkable happens: She finds she doesn’t exactly hate the gruff, sarcastic boy she was born to loathe.
Saul’s arrival sparks a chain reaction, and as the magic, ghosts, and coywolves of Five Fingers conspire to reveal the truth about the dark moment that started the feud, June must question everything she knows about her family and the father she adored. And she must decide whether it’s finally time for her – and all of the O’Donnells before her – to let go.
Emily Henry’s The Love That Split the World was one of my favourite YA contemporary reads of this year, so when I discovered she had another book being released it went to the top of my to-read list. A Million Junes sounds amazing, and if it’s anything like The Love That Split the World then I know it’s going to be a moving story with a heartbreaking and beautiful romance.
So what does everyone think; is A Million Junes a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?
Adding it right now! Thank you, Beth!!

Wow! A Milion Junes sounds amazing (plus I’m kind of a sucker for Romeo and Juliet inspired stories). I have yet to read The Love That Split the World, but it’s definitely on my TBR. I’m really exited to be reading both of them! 🙂

It definitely does, and while I’m not really a sucker for Romeo and Juliet I am for Emily Henry’s books so I’m sure it will be amazing.
Oh I’d highly recommend The Love That Split the World, it is one of my all-time favourite books so I kind of feel like everyone should read it. I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as well Anna! 😀

I like the sound of this one! I have to admit I’m a sucker for anything that is likened to Romeo and Juliet which is funny considering I’m not a huge fan of the original play (though I love the movie remake with Leonardo DiCaprio 🙈). Definitely adding this to my TBR! I haven’t read The Love That Split the World yet but I’ve heard some good things about it, hopefully one of these days. 😊

I’ll admit to not being a huge fan of the movie, and honestly I’m not going to say I’m a huge fan of Romeo and Juliet retellings seeing as I don’t tend to seek them out, but all the ones I have read before have been really good so I have high hopes for this one. Plus I really loved her first book.
I’d definitely recommend The Love That Split the World Melissa. It is such a moving and beautiful and heartbreaking book. It’s one of my favourite YA contemporaries now so I hope if/when you do get around to it you enjoy it as much as I did! 😀

I think the main reason I like this movie is because I love Leonardo DiCaprio 😂. I don’t really seek them out either but I’ve come across a lot while looking around on Goodreads. There’s this one I know of called Romiette and Julio that I had to read for school one year where it’s reversed genders and has a ton of diversity. It’s probably one of my favorite books. 😊
I hope so too! I definitely plan on getting to it one of these days.

I’m not a massive fan of Leonardo DiCaprio so that may be why for me. 🙂 I haven’t even come across that many on Goodreads, I think there was a duology, Juliette Immortal and Romeo Redeemed (or something like that) that I remember that was actually quite good, and Romiette and Julio sounds quite interesting as well. I think I would have enjoyed the story more if I’d had to read that one in school! 😀

I looked up Juliet Immortal and it sounds really interesting. 😊
I know right? I kind of wish they would have done retellings in school rather than the actual thing. I know now they’ve put things like The Hunger Games into English classes for required reading and I’m jealous that kids now get to read that.

It was a really good book though I preferred the second one (Romeo Redeemed) just a little bit more. I think if you enjoyed the original story you’ll enjoy both of them as well.
You’re kidding right?! Wow if I’d been able to read The Hunger Games in school instead of Julius Caesar, Lord of the Flies and A Doll’s House I would have enjoyed English lessons a lot more!

I know right!? Not that I didn’t like some of the classics we read but some of them were just not for me.

Most of them were just not for me. Though I did enjoy reading MacBeth and A Midsummers Night Dream when I was in primary school! 🙂

I normally write things on my hand so I don’t forget them. Not sure if that will work for you with books though. 🙂
And yes the cover is gorgeous, luckily the story inside is just as amazing! 😀
