Publisher: Delacorte Press

Release Date: 27th June 2017

Lada Dracul has no allies. No throne. All she has is what she’s always had: herself. After failing to secure the Wallachian throne, Lada is out to punish anyone who dares to cross her blood-strewn path. Filled with a white-hot rage, she storms the countryside with her men, accompanied by her childhood friend Bogdan, terrorizing the land. But brute force isn’t getting Lada what she wants. And thinking of Mehmed brings little comfort to her thorny heart. There’s no time to wonder whether he still thinks about her, even loves her. She left him before he could leave her.

What Lada needs is her younger brother Radu’s subtlety and skill. But Mehmed has sent him to Constantinople—and it’s no diplomatic mission. Mehmed wants control of the city, and Radu has earned an unwanted place as a double-crossing spy behind enemy lines. Radu longs for his sister’s fierce confidence—but for the first time in his life, he rejects her unexpected plea for help. Torn between loyalties to faith, to the Ottomans, and to Mehmed, he knows he owes Lada nothing. If she dies, he could never forgive himself—but if he fails in Constantinople, will Mehmed ever forgive him?

As nations fall around them, the Dracul siblings must decide: what will they sacrifice to fulfil their destinies? Empires will topple, thrones will be won…and souls will be lost.

When I read And I Darken it wasn’t at all what I expected, but I still ended up really enjoying Lada’s journey and her story. I have high hopes for this second book, and the blurb already makes it sound like it’s going to be an amazing action-filled story.

So what does everyone think; is Lucky in Love a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?

    1. At the moment it is but honestly I feel like the time between now and then will honestly fly by. Either way yeah the perfect WoW candidate at the moment!
Definitely check out the first one Stephanie, it wasn’t what I expected it to be but in a good way; it was a great read. 😀

      1. I’ve got it in my possession, so hopefully I’ll be able to read it.
You’re right about time flying by: I remember when Stealing Snow seemed like it would never come out, and I would’ve killed for a copy of Heartless as an ARC. But now that they are released now, it is good I didn’t have them because I got to read so many other books that have been out for awhile!

      2. Yes I know that feeling, it was the same for me with Crooked Kingdom. I would have killed for an ARC of that book but by the time it was released it took me over a month to get around to it anyways. Besides sometimes books come out before you know it and the wait doesn’t turn out to be that long after all. 😀

      3. So true! Isn’t that strange? I went to the library today to return the ones I had to and keep the ones overdue that I couldn’t part with, but there was a diff librarian and she renewed all the ones I wanted renewed, and restarted a couple of them! She was awesome! Since there were no holds, she just did it. 😊
I love my library! Not checking anything else out until the books I have are read! (Even though I checked to see if anything good was on the shelf and it wasn’t, lol…old habits die hard)

      4. That is great, and at least you have a but longer to read them all now as well. I do think waiting until you’ve got through all the books you’ve checked out is a good idea. I’m trying to do the same but with books I brought but it is so hard. I definitely agree that old habits do die hard! 🙂

  1. The covers for this series are so gorgeous! I still have gotten around to reading And I Darken but I want to at some point. I’ve heard mixed things about it but I love the idea of it being a Vlad the Impaler type retelling. Great pick, Beth! 😊

    1. They really are, although this isn’t the one that will be gracing my bookshelves when it’s finally released. I still have to wait for the English cover to be revealed.
And I Darken was actually really good, it wasn’t at all what I thought it would be but I still really enjoyed it which is saying something.
      Thanks Melissa! 😀

    1. They are really gorgeous aren’t they? I love the cover for this book so much more than the first one as well! 🙂
You still have a fair bit of time to get around to And I Darken before this one is released, and I hope you really enjoy it as well! 🙂

  2. I’ve read so many mixed reviews of And I Darken that I honestly don’t know what to do. I LOVE the original story of Vlad Tepes, so when I read the blurb for the first book, I was fangirling until I saw someone mention that she had the same great expectations but it was a huge disappointment. But, seeing that you really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the sequel…oh man!!

    1. Yeah there are a few mixed reviews for it. I really enjoyed the book, it was nothing like what I expected it would be but in a good way, so I’d definitely recommend it. Especially if you love the original story of Vlad Tepes.
Choices choices right? Either way if you do pick it up I hope you enjoy it Anna. 🙂

  3. I skipped over the synopsis, because I haven’t read the first book yet! It does sound amazing though. I know that when I read it, I’m probably going to fall completely and utterly in love, but I have this problem where I just can’t seem to start books that I know I’m going to like. I waited months to start six of crows (one of my favourite books)!
Fleur @ FranklyBooks just posted WAITING ON WEDNESDAY (1)

    1. Definitely a good idea, I think there are some spoilers for the first book in this synopsis. But yeah it does sound amazing, and the first book is really good as well. 🙂
It’s great you already know you’re going to like it, I hope that turns out to be true. And I think I know what you mean about that too, sometimes it’s like the hype and anticipation is too much. (On a side note; Six of Crows is one of my all-time faves as well, have you read Crooked Kingdom yet?)

      1. I haven’t! I think I’m going to wait for christmas to get it though (even though it seems like a really really long time away).

  4. Wow. That’s a beautiful cover! Can’t really read anything about it, as I haven’t yet gotten around to the first book yet. Hopefully I’ll be reading it some time soon – though I might wait until the release date is nearer, so that I don’t have to wait that much! 🙂

    1. It definitely is, but this is the US one so it isn’t what I’ll have on my bookshelves when it’s released. Ah that’s a shame, but better to avoid the blurb for this one until you’ve read the first. I think there are some spoilers in it 🙂
Hopefully but waiting until closer to this one is a good idea. I wouldn’t say the first one ends on a cliffhanger but it will be great to jump right into the second book either way. 🙂
