Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Release Date: 4th April 2017

Goodreads

Lara Jean’s letter-writing days aren’t over in this surprise follow-up to the New York Times bestselling To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You.

Lara Jean is having the best senior year a girl could ever hope for. She is head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Peter; her dad’s finally getting remarried to their next door neighbour, Ms. Rothschild; and Margot’s coming home for the summer just in time for the wedding.

But change is looming on the horizon. And while Lara Jean is having fun and keeping busy helping plan her father’s wedding, she can’t ignore the big life decisions she has to make. Most pressingly, where she wants to go to college and what that means for her relationship with Peter. She watched her sister Margot go through these growing pains. Now Lara Jean’s the one who’ll be graduating high school and leaving for college and leaving her family – and possibly the boy she loves – behind.

When your heart and your head are saying two different things, which one should you listen to?

After finally getting around to reading the first two Lara Jean books I immediately added Always and Forever, Lara Jean to my to-read list despite the lack of cover and blurb. Although I felt the ending to P.S. I Still Love You could have been a satisfying end to Lara Jean’s and Peter’s story I’m really glad there’s another book being released next year.

So what does everyone think; is Always and Forever, Lara Jean a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?

  1. I cannot wait for this book!! This is where I will differ with you, when I read the ending of P.S. I Still Love You I needed more. I actually always thought this was going to be a trilogy and not a duology but when it was confirmed that a 3rd book was coming out, I was ecstatic. I didn’t feel like Lara Jean’s story had ended in P.S. I Still Love You. I am super eager to read this book like you. This is such a heartfelt cute series.

    1. Oh don’t get me wrong I’m thrilled that there’s a new book being released in this series, I guess because I’m more used to cliff-hangers in the books I read it felt like a little bit of an ending in P.S. I Still Love You. I can’t wait to get my hands on this third book but I think you must be so much more excited for it than I am, I really hope you enjoy it, and it lives up to your expectations! 😀

  2. I finally bought the first book. It’s in my book stash I’m taking to Florida. I had no idea there was a third one though. I’m planning to read every book in my little crate of new copies by the end of the year. I’m just going to pull one out of that box every time I need something to read and the first book will be one of them by 2017. 🙂

    1. Whoo, I really hope you like it in that case. Yeah I only discovered there was a third one recently and although I’m excited for it it’s not a book I’m desperate to get my hands on you know.
Ohh good luck with that! I have a list of books I need to get around to before the end of the year, no clue if I’ll end up succeeding on that goal or not though. Hopefully you get through all of yours as well! 😀

  3. The problem when books are added is that sometimes the story really is over and it’s just squeezing the lemons to make a little more :-/ I hope this book doesn’t fall into this category!

    1. Yeah that’s one of the things I’m a little worried about, just because I felt the second book ended in such a way that the series could have finished on a satisfying note you know?
I hope so as well, I’m still excited to get my hands on it when it’s released! 😀

  4. Another series I need to get around to! Every time I turn around someone is raving about these books but even though I’ve had the first book on my TBR since before it was released I haven’t picked it up. I think I might just wait until the last book is out though. Great pick, Beth! 😊

    1. I’d recommend it for sure if you want to start more YA contemporary books. I think like with Kasie West the stories are conventional YA romances but they’re still really good, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
I’d definitely say wait until the last one is released, that’s kind of what I wish I’d done but at the same time I felt the second book ended in a place that could have been a satisfying ending so I’m not desperate for this one you know.
      Thanks Melissa! ❤

      1. You’re welcome! 😊
I get what you mean. But yeah this series and then Kasie West’s books are ones I’m going to have conquer. I need to mix in some contemporaries. I should do that whole TBR jar thing we talked about but just have a contemporary jar so that when I get into fantasy slumps I can pluck one from there and read it. That would definitely help me read more YA contemporary. 😊

      2. Well I do think you’re picking the best YA contemporaries to get through first. Kasie West is now one of my favourite YA contemporary authors and I really enjoyed this series as well.
Yep, definitely do a TBR jar. I’m already starting on mine so I want to get some colourful paper to print the challenges on when I need something to read! 😀

  5. I’m SO EXCITED about this book but also kind of scared! I prefer To All the Boys than PS I Still Love You, and sometimes I wonder if there’s actually still more to the story. The cover looks gorgeous, though, and I’m planning to read this. I hope it’s good. ❤

    1. Same here, and oh I love the cover so much more than the other two books in this series! I know what you mean, I felt the way P.S. I Still Love You ended could have been a satisfying conclusion to the series but honestly the blurb for this one sounds pretty good as well.
I’m sure it’ll be amazing, and I can’t wait to read it either! ❤

      1. Yeah, I agree. I actually feel like PS I Still Love You and To All the Boys can be mushed into one longer book, minus all the video drama that Lara Jean had in the second book, haha. I guess there’s more to their story still!

      2. Yeah that video drama just seemed to go in circles didn’t it, every time it seemed like she was over it it came up again and turns out she wasn’t!
There’ll likely be a proper conclusion in the third book then, based on the blurb I doubt there’ll be a fourth one but who knows?

      3. Yeah! Although I probably wouldn’t mind a fourth book if this one goes well, just as long as Lara Jean keeps growing up. It’ll be interesting to follow a character all the way from high school to college to maybe even adult life, you know? We don’t see a lot of that. 😛

      4. I guess with YA contemporaries it always feels like there’s a chance for more books in the series. I wouldn’t say no to a fourth book but like you said it depends on how Lara Jean develops throughout. It would have to be well done especially if we saw her all way to her adult life you know?
