Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on my Fall TBR List.

So who else is incredibly excited about all the amazing books that are being released in the second half of this year? Some of the conclusions to favourite series are mine are coming out and I cannot wait to get my hands on them. On top of that there are new series being released and even a few books which, although they have been out for a long time now, I am aiming to get around to by the end of this year.

top-ten-tuesday-40

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

This was released today and immediately after I finished work I went to the Waterstones at Piccadilly Circus and brought a copy. So much for my book buying ban. I cannot wait to get started on Crooked Kingdom; ever since I finished Six of Crows I’ve been desperate to find out how the story ends for Kaz and his gang.

When you can’t beat the odds, change the game.

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series is one of my all-time favourites, so all I needed to hear about her new book was that it was an Alice in Wonderland inspired fairytale retelling and it went to the top of my to-read list. For me Marissa Meyer plus Alice in Wonderland equals a winning combination.

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland – the infamous Queen of Hearts – she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favourite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gray

I read A Thousand Pieces of You back when it was first released and, for some reason, didn’t pick up the second book until a few months ago. That probably ended up being a wise decision given the way Ten Thousand Skies Above You ends. After that cliffhanger I was even more desperate to get my hands on this book than I was before.

A million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the centre of a cross-dimensional feud since she first travelled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

In the epic conclusion to Claudia Gray’s Firebird trilogy, fate and family will be questioned, loves will be won and lost, and the multiverse will be forever changed. It’s a battle of the Marguerites…and only one can win.

Replica by Lauren Oliver

This book only made it onto my radar recently when I started seeing the pre-release reviews on WordPress and Goodreads. It sounds interesting but for me the real selling point is the way the story is told through both Lyra’s and Gemma’s perspectives; you can read Lyra’s story first, or Gemma’s, or even alternate between the two.

Gemma has been in and out of hospitals since she was born. ‘A sickly child’, her lonely life to date has revolved around her home, school and one best friend, Alice. But when she discovers her father’s connection to the top secret Haven research facility, currently hitting the headlines and under siege by religious fanatics, Gemma decides to leave the sanctuary she’s always known to find the institute and determine what is going on there and why her father’s name seems inextricably linked to it.

Amidst the frenzy outside the institute’s walls, Lyra – or number 24 as she is known as at Haven – and a fellow experimental subject known only as 72, manage to escape. Encountering a world they never knew existed outside the walls of their secluded upbringing , they meet Gemma and, as they try to understand Haven’s purpose together, they uncover some earth-shattering secrets that will change the lives of both girls forever…

Blood for Blood by Ryan Graudin

When I was at Waterstones today picking up my copy of Crooked Kingdom what else did I see on the shelves but a copy of Blood for Blood. I immediately picked it up and brought it, even though I had it pre-ordered on Amazon as well. I can’t wait to get started because, like with Crooked Kingdom, I can’t wait to see how Yael’s story ends.

The action-packed, thrilling sequel to Ryan Graudin’s Wolf by Wolf.

There would be blood.
Blood for blood.
Blood to pay.
An entire world of it.

For the resistance in 1950s Germany, the war may be over, but the fight has just begun.

Death camp survivor Yael, who has the power to skinshift, is on the run: the world has just seen her shoot and kill Hitler. But the truth of what happened is far more complicated, and its consequences are deadly. Yael and her unlikely comrades dive into enemy territory to try to turn the tide against the New Order, and there is no alternative but to see their mission through to the end, whatever the cost.

But dark secrets reveal dark truths, and one question hangs over them all: how far can you go for the ones you love?

This gripping, thought-provoking sequel to Wolf by Wolf will grab readers by the throat with its cinematic writing, fast-paced action, and relentless twists.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

This series has been on my to-read list for a while now. I have read all of Patrick Ness’s other books and loved every single one of them so I have high expectations for the Chaos Walking trilogy. Also if what everyone’s been saying to me about this book is anything to go by it’s going to be amazing.

A new edition of the award-winning first novel in the Chaos Walking trilogy, with a bonus short story, The New World.

Imagine you’re the only boy in a town of men. And you can hear everything they think. And they can hear everything you think. Imagine you don’t fit in with their plans…Todd Hewitt is just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man. But his town has been keeping secrets from him. Secrets that are going to force him to run…

The new edition of this unflinching novel about fear, flight and the terrifying path of self-discovery features the short story, The New World. Set before the events of The Knife of Never Letting Go, it is the story of Viola’s dramatic journey to the New World.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

I saw an amazing, glowing, five-star review for this book and ever since it’s been sitting on my to-read list. I’m hoping to get around to it before the second book is released, and I’m also hoping that I enjoy it as much as everyone else seems to. There are a few sci-fi books on my to-read list that I want to get around to before the end of the year and this is at the top of the list.

Somewhere within our crowded sky, a crew of wormhole builders hops from planet to planet, on their way to the job of a lifetime. To the galaxy at large, humanity is a minor species, and one patched-up construction vessel is a mere speck on the starchart. This is an everyday sort of ship, just trying to get from here to there.

But all voyages leave their mark, and even the most ordinary of people have stories worth telling. A young Martian woman, hoping the vastness of space will put some distance between herself and the life she‘s left behind. An alien pilot, navigating life without her own kind. A pacifist captain, awaiting the return of a loved one at war.

Set against a backdrop of curious cultures and distant worlds, this episodic tale weaves together the adventures of nine eclectic characters, each on a journey of their own.

Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter

This was one of my Waiting on Wednesday picks a few months back. As a fairytale retelling it went to the top of my to-read list, even though I had no knowledge of the original folktale it’s based off; Vassilissa the Beautiful. I was thrilled when I received this book as part of September’s Fairy Loot box and now I have no excuse not to get started on it as soon as possible.

In the enchanted kingdom of Brooklyn, the fashionable people put on cute shoes, go to parties in warehouses, drink on rooftops at sunset, and tell themselves they’ve arrived. A whole lot of Brooklyn is like that now—but not Vassa’s working-class neighbourhood.

In Vassa’s neighbourhood, where she lives with her stepmother and bickering stepsisters, one might stumble onto magic, but stumbling out again could become an issue. Babs Yagg, the owner of the local convenience store, has a policy of beheading shoplifters—and sometimes innocent shoppers as well. So when Vassa’s stepsister sends her out for light bulbs in the middle of night, she knows it could easily become a suicide mission.

But Vassa has a bit of luck hidden in her pocket, a gift from her dead mother. Erg is a tough-talking wooden doll with sticky fingers, a bottomless stomach, and a ferocious cunning. With Erg’s help, Vassa just might be able to break the witch’s curse and free her Brooklyn neighbourhood. But Babs won’t be playing fair…

Inspired by the Russian folktale Vassilissa the Beautiful and Sarah Porter’s years of experience teaching creative writing to New York City students.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Like with The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet this book has been on my to-read list since my friend read and loved it a good few years ago now. I have a copy sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to get around to it, hopefully that will happen before the end of this year.

Agnieszka loves her valley home, her quiet village, the forests and the bright shining river. But the corrupted Wood stands on the border, full of malevolent power, and its shadow lies over her life.

Her people rely on the cold, driven wizard known only as the Dragon to keep its powers at bay. But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for ten years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood.

The next choosing is fast approaching, and Agnieszka is afraid. She knows – everyone knows – that the Dragon will take Kasia: beautiful, graceful, brave Kasia, all the things Agnieszka isn’t, and her dearest friend in the world. And there is no way to save her.

But Agnieszka fears the wrong things. For when the Dragon comes, it is not Kasia he will choose.

Uprooted is a hugely imaginative, engrossing and vivid fantasy novel, inspired by folk and fairy tales by Naomi Novik, the author of the Temeraire series. It is perfect reading for fans of Robin Hobb and Trudi Canavan.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

There have been some mixed reviews since this book was released. However it is still one I want to get around to soon-ish. My expectations have been lowered somewhat, and I know what to expect from the story so hopefully that will improve my reading experience. Plus I have really enjoyed what Kendare Blake books I’ve read so far so hopefully this will be no expectation.

Three sisters. One crown. A fight to the death.

In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.

The last queen standing gets the crown.

So what do you think? Did you take part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, if so let me know what books are on your Fall TBR list.

    1. I’m going into it with slightly lower expectations so hopefully that’ll help me enjoy it as little more. Yeah The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet is second on my immediate to-read list, I’ve heard great things about it so I have high hopes! 😀

  1. I’ve got Vassa in the Night and Replica on my Overdrive holds…I’m at the top of the list…along with just getting The Heart of Betrayal and Poisoned Blade this week! So many good books, and not enough time to read, lol!
So many good ones coming out these next couple months.
Hey, you want to do a Christmas book exchange? One book for one book? Could be US v UK covers, or it could just be one from our TBR? Or make a cute care package? You are the only one I’d really like to do this with…since we have been friends for so long, and we have such common tastes in books!

    1. Ohh so you should be getting them soon, if you haven’t already. My copy of Replica arrived while I was on holiday so I really can’t wait to get started on that one! And I know what you mean about not having enough time to read! 😀
It’s going to be a very exciting last few months of 2016.
YES, that sounds amazing! We could do it as a cute package, with little things from the UK/US along with a book as well. That’s a great idea, and like you said we do have similar taste in books as well! 😀

  2. I am currently reading Crooked Kingdom and loving the little bit I’ve read so far! Heartless I want to get too but I don’t know why I feel compelled to finish The Lunar Chronicles before getting into this new series which has nothing to do with TLC lol! I’ve had A Thousand Pieces of You on shelf since forever. Do you have a review for that one? If yes, I would love to read it. I think you and I have both discussed how bad we want to read Replica, I think!! Sorry if I’m confusing you with someone else. Vassa in the Night is another book that has caught my interest with it’s synopsis. I’ll be patiently waiting for your review =) Lilly from Lair of Books gifted my Three Dark Crowns and just like you, I’ve heard some mixed reviews so I also won’t be going in expecting much. But lets hope that it blows us both away with greatness. I really hope you enjoy all your books!!! And have a wonderful fall with amazing reads =)

    1. Oh I am so jealous! I have the book on my shelves by I can’t start it yet so I need to be extra careful to avoid all spoilers! And I know that feeling all too well. I always have to finish previous series before starting a new one an author has released, even if they’re not remotely connected. I really hope you enjoy TLC books you still have left to go, and you’ve still got a fair bit of time before Heartless is released so more than enough time to finish any books still on your to-read list by Marissa Meyer.
I do have a review for that one, and the second in the series, I think it was around May I read and reviewed those books. They’re really amazing so I hope you do pick them up and I hope you really enjoy them as well.
Possibly, I know I’ve spoken to a lot of people about Replica recently, but oh it sounds amazing!
I’ll be reading Vassa in the Night this month so as soon as I’m done I’ll post a review for it! 😀
Yeah I hope so too, I really enjoyed Kendare Blake’s previous books I’ve read but I’m going into Three Dark Crowns with low expectations, hopefully that’ll help and yeah we’ll both enjoy it.
Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy all the books you have to read this fall as well! 😀

      1. Every time I go on Tumblr and/or Twitter, I scroll by anything that says the word Crooked Kingdom in it because I also I’m trying to avoid spoilers lol.
With TLC, all I have left to read is Cress and Winter. I don’t plan on reading Stars Above or Fairest at the moment.
I also haven’t read Anna Dressed in Blood although I have both books on my shelves for almost two years now lol. What a shame right? So I might read those before I get into Three Dark Crowns.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I’ve avoided all mentions of it on social media at all. I haven’t even read any reviews on WordPress for Crooked Kingdom and I know for the most part they avoid spoilers!
Oh Cress and Winter are just amazing, I honestly think Winter is the best of the series so you’ve got a lot to look forwards to, and yeah Stars Above and Fairest aren’t necessary to the series so you can get to them whenever really!
I’ll probably read them before Three Darkest Crowns as well, just because I’ve heard much better things about the Anna books that I have Three Dark Crowns!

      1. You’re welcome, and they truly do. I don’t know what it was I just couldn’t keep up with the story or bother to stay with it. Like I finished it, but it didn’t really do much for me. Hopefully you find it engaging! 🙂

  3. Beth! so many goodies! I also need to get to Uprooted & The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, I’ve had them on my TBR for quite a bit & own physical copies of them both smh. I am so ready for Heartless, it needs to be November NOW! lol. I know Vassa In The Night is going to be in October’s Owlcrate, I have a strong feeling about that so much so that I was strong enough to walk past it Monday night at Strand Bookstore. I did look back a couple of times but in the end I managed to get away. The Knife of Never Letting Go I own but I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about the way it’s written, not sure if it’s the dialect or the made up language in this fictional world. Either way, great picks! 😉

    1. Oh I feel like they’re all going to be amazing books, there’s so many brilliant ones being released in the second half of this year!
Yeah I’ve had both on my to-read list, and on my bookshelves for so long that I’m wondering why I haven’t picked them up beforehand, it’s not like there are many negative reviews out there. Oh yes, I would love to have a copy of Heartless in my hands right this second! Wow that is keeping strong, but you know you’re getting the book next month so it’s something to look forwards to isn’t it?
See I’ve only heard good things about The Knife of Never Letting Go, I mean obviously there are some negative reviews out there but the majority I’ve seen are good. I guess I haven’t been going out of my way looking for reviews you know.
      Thanks! 😀

      1. I agree, fall is looking mighty good right about now in the bookish 🌎! I also have no real reason not to have read some of these books other than my non stop book buying habits I can’t offer up much of an excuse lol. I actually was really looking forward to The Knife Of Never Letting Go & kept coming across negative reviews. I’ve learned to stay away from reviews for books that I’m really excited about until after I’ve had my go at the book but sometimes they come looking 4 you 😂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yep, it definitely is. I feel like since I started book blogging I’ve seen so many more books that are due out that I just can’t wait for. I even have things out in 2017 that are on my must-buy list! 😀
And yeah, I have the same issue with non-stop book buying habits!
I haven’t seen any negative reviews for The Knife of Never Letting Go, honestly I’ve got pretty good at avoiding reviews for books I’m waiting to read but yeah sometimes I feel the opinions and spoilers can find you. I think overall for TKONLG I’ve seen more good things than bad. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Same here, I have a running list off books being released in 2017 also on my must-buy list 😂 I thought I was doing good this month as far as book buying but alas, these last couple of days in September saw a surge in book purchases lol. I’m probably still going to read TKONLG, I’m just going to have to be in the mood for that one 😉

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I’ve already pre-ordered more than a few of the new releases coming out in 2017, I couldn’t resist! Despite being on a book buying ban I have brought a fair few books this month, kind of disappointed with myself but it’s less than I would normally buy in a month and, well, I just couldn’t resist! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Lol I had a good August where I didn’t go overboard. This month was a bit more than I would’ve liked but I also picked up books that I really want to read. Go Beth! 2017 should be exciting in the bookish 🌎😃

      1. I’ve never had an issue with Amazon before the EoS problem – and normally I wouldn’t have really cared, but they had to choose the book that I’m most excited about! 😂😂 hopefully!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Well, it didn’t arrive yesterday and they also don’t know when they are going to send it to me… that’s the last time I’m ever pre ordering anything by Amazon!! Useless…

  4. I CAN’T wait to read Crooked Kingdom! It’s my most anticipated book of this year (and ever actually). I’m most likely going to read it the moment I get my hands on it!
Wow, you already found Blood for Blood? I thought it’s coming out in November? Anyway, it’s great that you have it now as well! (Book buying bans are hard to maintain when exiting books are coming out.) I can’t wait to find out how Yael’s story ends a s well.
I can’t wait to see what you are going to think of The Knife of Never Letting Go! I hope you end up loving it as much as I did.
I have heard nothing but amazing things about The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. And I’m very exited to read it as well. I seriously need to start reading more sci-fi books and this is a good one to start with! 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I wish I could do that now I have my hands on it, unfortunately I’m going to have to wait at least a week and a bit before starting it myself so I am seriously avoiding all reviews and spoilers until I can start and finish it!
No, God that would be amazing if I’d got my hands on it that early, but it’s out next Thursday I think so only about a week early. I knew I was going to still pre-order books despite my ban but even then it’s still really hard to maintain when there are so many other books I want to get. You’ve been on book buying bans before right? How did you find them?
Oh same here, and the things everyone has been saying about this whole series have just made me even more excited to get started and raised my expectations even higher! I hope you enjoy The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet as well then, it sounds like an amazing book doesn’t to? And yeah definitely a good one if you’re looking for more sci-fi I would imagine! 😀

      1. I see! Well, good luck with avoiding spoilers and reviews – that’s what I will be doing as well. (Since my copy hasn’t arrived yet.)
Wow…I didn’t know that! How in the world did I think it comes out that late?! I seriously have no idea what was going on in my head. Well, at least I will be able to read it soon. 🙂
I was never on a proper book buying ban, as they don’t really work for me. I usually do the “read X books before buying 1 new one”. I find it easier to follow and when I finish some books I can reward myself with a new one! Plus that way I can get new releases as well. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I’ve managed it for a fair few books so far; The Rose and the Dagger, Empire of Storms. I didn’t start them straight away and just avoided all mention of them until I finished. Hopefully the same will work with both Crooked Kingdom and Blood for Blood! 😀
Honestly I thought it came out later than that as well, at least around mid-October, it’s why I was so surprised to see a copy at Waterstones and why I picked it up straight away!
Well I’ve never been on a proper one either. I still pre-order books and buy my subscription boxes, for me it’s more about controlling my spending than stopping it all together. I do like your idea of reading X books before buying a new one, maybe I should try that next time! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. It seems you are going to succeed, if you have been that good with avoiding them so far! 🙂 I should be all right as well, I seem to be able to avoid spoilers as well!
I’m very glad that it comes out so soon! I seriously need to know what will happen next! I really can’t wait to read more about Yael.
Same here. It’s more about controlling my spending as well, especially since I tend to spend A TON of money on books and then they sit on my shelf for months (years). So I think it’s more of a combination of wanting to shorten my TBR list and saving money while doing that! 😀 Good luck with the ban! And I can only recommend that method, it’s worked wonders for me.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. It’s more the fact that I will not even open any review I see for those books on WordPress, or even go onto the page on Goodreads so I don’t see any reviews at all! It’s worked so far so I see no reason it won’t this time around.
Oh I definitely agree! That cliff-hanger was insane and now I just want to jump right into Blood for Blood. I still have to wait a little while before I can though.
Yeah I spent so much during July and August on books so I felt like I needed to put myself on a book buying ban just until my bank account recovered a little. Hey whatever works, works right? And thanks, I feel like I’ll need the luck, and next time I’ll definitely try you’re method as well, maybe it will work for me too! 😀

  5. Ahhh what a fantastic list, Beth! I can’t even begin to share my excitement about Replica, but I’m a huge fan of Lauren Oliver’s work, so…I can’t wait. I love the originality of this story already. And A Milion Worlds Without You! I’m eager to see how this series end, especially after the cliffhanger in that last book… 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Marie! 🙂 I’ve got it pre-ordered myself and I just can’t wait to get started on it. It will be the first Lauren Oliver book I’ve picked up so if I like it I’ll have to make a start on her others.
Oh that cliffhanger was just insane. I think you read that book before me as well so I don’t know how you’ve waited this long. I can barely wait the few months between the release of A Million Worlds and reading Ten Thousand Skies myself! 😀

  6. A lot of these are on my fall TBR as well! Mostly the first/second books for the series ones, as I haven’t gotten around to picking them up yet 🙈. There’s also a few I haven’t heard of before but am officially adding to my overall TBR – Blood for Blood for instance. It sounds so interesting! I don’t read much historical fiction but I’ve always been interested in that time period actual history wise. So, I’ll have to check it out one of these days. Great picks, Beth! 😊

    1. Yeah I feel I picked the kind of books everyone would have on their TBR list this week! Actually for the most part, other than I think three of my picks, all of mine this week are first books in a series as well. So you’re not the only one who hadn’t gotten around to them yet! 😀
I haven’t gotten around to Blood for Blood yet but the first book in that series, Wolf by Wolf, is just amazing so I would highly recommend picking it up! I don’t read much historical fiction either but the books I have read from that genre are favourites of mine, and Wolf by Wolf was no exception!
      Thanks Melissa! 😀

      1. You’re welcome! ♥
If I would have had time to actually sit down and do TTT this week mine would have been full of first books in a series because I have so many on my TBR for Fall and Winter 😂. I’ve been trying to branch more into genres that I don’t normally read books from so I’ll definitely have to try to pick it up when I get the chance. Once I lower my own crazy TBR haha. 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Well there are sooo many amazing books being released this Fall and Winter, honestly it seems there are just better and better books coming out and I need more time to read them all!
I’ve been trying as well but I’ll admit a large amount of the books on my to-read list are fantasy, I need to add more YA contemporary onto this list! Also yeah lower my crazy TBR list too! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. YES! I’m feeling the exact same way. All of these incredible books are being released faster than I can read them. And also time, I need more of it in the day just for reading.
A lot of the ones on my immediate TBR are fantasy too so I probably need to do the same lol. At this point I’m wondering if my TBR can ever be tamed. There’s just so many books! 😂

      4. And at the same time it can feel like it’s still ages to go before their release. There’s no middle ground is there? I feel like I never have enough time for anything; reading and blogging!
I’ve made enough of a dent in my YA contemporary to-read list that I feel I can go back to fantasy for a while now, and honestly fantasy is always going to be my first love! ❤

      5. There really isn’t. Us book worms just can’t be pleased, we have too many books to read already yet we want more immediately haha.
Same! Time used to feel never ending but now it flys by and there isn’t enough of it.
I’m doing the same! I have so many fantasy books I want to read asap. 😊

      6. The life of a bookworm right, but I completely agree with you, I will complain about how I have too many books to get through but then the next second complain that I don’t have anything to read! 😀
I feel that’s part of growing old as well! It’s only going to get worse. 🙂

    1. Same here! I’ve pretty much been counting down the days till its release and I can’t believe it’s finally out! It’ll be the same story with Heartless and A Million Worlds with You, I can’t wait to get started on those two!
Thanks, I hope you have a great few reading months for the Fall as well! 🙂

    1. Yeah they’re popular choices for this week aren’t they? I hope you enjoy Three Dark Crowns, the September box looked amazing, and I’m am really excited to see what is in the October one as well. Vassa in the Night is definitely a book I need to get around to ASAP! 🙂

  7. UPROOTED, YES!!! I read it a while back (but haven’t reviewed it) and I love, love, love it. It’s not very often that we get a stand-alone fantasy, and this one actually wraps things up very neatly.

I’ve considered reading Vassa in the Night, but there have been mixed reviews. I’ll wait for your review to decide. 😛

Also can’t wait to see what you think of Replica!

    1. Ohh, I’ve yet to see a bad review for Uprooted and given what everyone has been saying about it I need to pick it up even sooner now! It’s great that it’s a solid standalone, you get books where it just feel rushed sometimes, especially with fantasy, so it’s great that isn’t the case with Uprooted. 🙂
I haven’t seen any reviews for it at the moment, and honestly it’s one of those books where I’ll likely avoid reviews until I’ve read it myself, but as soon as I’ve finished it I’ll post my own review so you can see what I think.
And yeah, I am so so excited to get my hands on that book it’s unreal! 😀

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah he has some amazing books out, and I think more than a few people have at least one of them on their to-read list. I have my copy of Crooked Kingdom but I’m not going to be able to get around to it for at least a week :/ same with Uprooted actually. I hope you enjoy them both when you get around to them!
Thanks for the link, I’ll definitely check out your TTT. 🙂

    1. This is the cover I have, but there are a few others out there. Honestly this one is my favourite of the lot though so I’m glad it’s the one I have.
There are a lot of amazing reviews out there, and I think it’s a semi popular book as well. Hopefully the story is as good as the cover is! ❤️
