Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton

Publisher: Faber & Faber

Release Date: 2nd February 2017

Goodreads

This is not about blood or love. This is about treason.

Nearly a year has passed since Amani and the rebels won their epic battle at Fahali. Amani has come into both her powers and her reputation as the Blue-Eyed Bandit, and the Rebel Prince’s message has spread across the desertโ€”and some might say out of control. But when a surprise encounter turns into a brutal kidnapping, Amani finds herself betrayed in the cruellest manner possible.

Stripped of her powers and her identity, and torn from the man she loves, Amani must return to her desert-girl’s instinct for survival. For the Sultan’s palace is a dangerous one, and the harem is a viper’s nest of suspicion, fear and intrigue. Just the right place for a spy to thrive…But spying is a dangerous game, and when ghosts from Amani’s past emerge to haunt her, she begins to wonder if she can trust her own treacherous heart.

Although it had some problems, mainly the fact that the plot was so slow to kick into action, I really loved Rebel of the Sands. It was one of my most anticipated releases for this year and it lived up to my expectations.

Once I’d finished book two immediately went on my to-read list, and now Traitor to the Throne has a cover (a really gorgeous one that both matches and stands out from the first book) and a blurb (which makes the book sound like the action will be present from the very beginning) I’m even more excited for its release.

So what does everyone think; is Traitor to the Throne a must on anyone elseโ€™s to-read list or are there any other books that you canโ€™t wait for to be released?

  1. I’m seriously exited for this book to come out! For the most part I adored Rebel of the Sands, though I did have some small problems with it as well. The synopsis for this one sounds amazing and it made me even more exited than I was before. The cover is gorgeous as well, I love the shade of purple that it’s in. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Same here. Yeah although it had a slow start when the action kicked into gear I loved this book, and I can’t wait for the second one to be released!
It’s just a shame we’ve still got a long time to go until its release, but imagine how gorgeous the first and second books will look together on your bookshelves! ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. It’s too bad that we have to wait for a long time. (Waiting is always the worst.) They are going to look amazing together! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Traitor to the Throne was added to my TBR even before finishing Rebel of the Sands. I loved that book too pieces and can’t wait to continue the story. The cover for Traitor to the Throne is beautiful. I just love the colour combo.

    1. I added it just after because until I finished Rebel of the Sands I didn’t realise it was part of a series.
But yeah it was a great book and I really need the sequel now. It’s so stunning isn’t it, and kind of both different and similar to Rebel of the Sands! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoy Rebel of the Sands as well, it starts off a little slow but once the plot picks up it’s a really good story.
      Thanks Melissa! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Oh it’s a gorgeous cover isn’t it? And you certainly have a fair bit of time before this book is released to get around to Rebel of the Sands. Thanks so much, and thanks for the link as well I’ll definitely check out you WoW! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Yeah I can see why there are mixed reviews, the book does start off a little slow, but once the plot gets going it’s quite a good story. Either way like you said the covers are gorgeous aren’t they, it’s what attracted me to this series in the first place! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Well I’m hoping the plot for this one picks up a little quicker than it did in the first book, but yeah either way the cover is gorgeous isn’t it?
I think if you enjoyed Aladdin you should check out this series! Especially if it is one of your favourite movies as well! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. I enjoyed it a lot more when the pace picked up a little but overall I thought it was a good book. Yeah the covers are gorgeous aren’t they? And I think, based on the sound of the blurb, the plot will move faster in this second book. It certainly sounds like it will so hopefully you’ll be able to give it a chance. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It’s definitely on my most anticipated releases list as well now there’s a cover and blurb for it! I did really enjoy Rebel of the Sands, especially after the story picked up the pace a little. Either way I agree with you in that I expect great things from Traitor to the Throne as well.

  3. UGH! these covers are so pretty! I have Rebel Of The Sands since it came as an Uppercase Box pick of the month. i was so excited to read it & then it got lost in the shuffle but i’m going to have to make it a priority. I love any & ALL dessert stories, probably why Aladdin is still to this day my fave Disney movie ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. They are aren’t they? The main reason the first book made it onto my radar was because of the cover!
Rebel of the Sands is a good book so I hope you enjoy it (a little slow to start off but about half way through it starts picking up the pace).
I will admit I’m starting to love desert stories as well, just need to find more of them! ๐Ÿ˜€
